Chapter 14

(PG-13)

Hiccup Pov:

It has been 3 days since we got the dogs. Astrid had named hers Stormfly and Snotlout named his Hookfang. School starts tomorrow and I am looking forward to it. The phones had been cool and life had been great.

Over the past few days we hung out with the twins and had a great time. They seem cool and fun. Now while they may play pranks and destroy stuff they are helpful.

Now Martial arts class and Boy scouts starts in one week from now about. Most of us cannot wait for those and Stoick actually sent some stuff for us to try. Training weights, now they aren't what your thinking.

The weights strap to our limbs and we can change it from 2 pounds to up to 10 on the wrists. We can do double that on the ankle, and after that we can double up for more training. He also sent us vests for the same purpose, going from 20 pounds to 150. He said to not go up more than 20 at a time and get used to it so it feels as if it is normal before upping it.

We started that last week around 4 days after we sent the message about the pets. So far they are taking it as a competition. To which Snotlout may win since he is the most fit. So far today he has 5 pounds on each ankle and 3 pounds on each wrist, He also has 30 on his chest. But recently Jake has been catching up having 4 pounds on his ankles and 3 on his wrists. He also has 30 on his chest.

I don't really get what is with them but yeah. Since we also had been doing so many things we each decided to keep a journal on them which I am writing this in.

For our computers it seems Jake has the highest understanding in using them and Hunter in programming. When I asked about it they just said that they used computers their entire life so they were used to them.

We were currently doing two games on the PC and one board game. Every Friday for over four hours we play Maces and Talons to improve our strategic knowledge.

On the PC we play Minecraft and Fortnite. Now apparently Jake and Hunter have already played the game. The first session that we played at the dining room table, Hunter helped us figure the game out. Though half an hour into him helping us Jake had already got diamonds!

According to Hunter he was a speed runner of sorts. He had always been good at survival games like this. Though what had happened fifteen minutes later shocked us all, even Hunter. Jake had already gotten to the final stage of the game, and won!

He said. "Normally I would do hard core so it would be harder, but you guys aren't that knowledgeable about it yet and I got carried away." He apologized for rushing since it was so easy. By the end of the session he had already built us all a base that was excellent for safety. I do not like it how he is bragging in a way, hopefully that would be the end. But it did not end with Minecraft.

Fortnite, now it came out in 2017, late 2017. Now Jake and everybody else joined us early in 2017, there is no way he could have known how to play it. But he showed us exactly how to play the game along with Hunter as if they knew it for ages. We like this game at the same level of Minecraft which we play every Sunday and Monday. We play Fortnite every Wednesday and Saturday.

Now if you take that into account we have played it for 7 hours since Every Wednesday we play for two and a half hours. An every Saturday we play for 2 hours. I am finally going to ask him why.

I stop writing in my journal and look at the time. It is 15:55, time to go play Fortnite with Everyone. I head out and everyone is gathering and when Jake arrives I ask him. "Jake, hoe come you are so good at Fortnite, you to Jackson, Emma."

They look at each other for a minute before responding. "The reason why we are so good at Fortnite and Minecraft, is because, our father was the lead developer for both of them. Therefore we tested out every, single, thing. We found any and all glitches which they patched, we are also the only ones who know how to Speed run both games in less than 24 hours, alone." Jake says.

It takes us a moment to realize what he just said. "So, you know basically everything about the two games and how to best teach someone new? An told no-one?!" Snotlout asks. "Yep, pretty much seeing as how we are not supposed to talk about our past." Jake responds.

"Well, lets stop fighting and get to the game, that good everyone?" Hannah asks to which everyone nods getting on Fortnite. By the end of the session we have completed the entirety of Stonewood. As we are leaving to do our own things Jake says. "I know something that no-one else knows about the game."

"Wait, what?! What is it?" I ask wanting to know. "Right before my dad died I was just starting on the developer team. He had me start a secret project while still keeping up with my own team. They did not like his idea, knowing it was being developed, but not by who. In the end they tortured him to stop its production thinking it would take away from battle royal. He didn't talk and in the end they said is it your son. He did not respond or even signify that he heard them. They ended up killing everyone on the team, they even went so far as to silent the family's. From my knowledge we were the only ones to escape." Jake says as Emma and Hunter comfort him as he cry's and shakes from the phycological trauma. From this I notice that he has been wearing a mask this entire time to hide it.

"We were working on the Twine Peaks Storyline, Terrain, and what came after it. I was years ahead of everyone else as well on it, technically I did the impossible. But they didn't like it they said they saw more profit in the Battle Royal. So the owner, one Benjamin Alexander, decided that he would kill as I said everyone. He shot and killed all the members he did not know if they were working on it or not. He kept the ones needed to finish the game though. Hunter and Emma had gotten to the safe house I built without anyone knowing." Jake said still trembling while being comforted by Astrid and Hannah now.

"The only reason our grandparents were not involved is when he asked me who else worked or knew about it I said. You did not need to kill anyone, after all I was the only one working on it. I don't have any backups and told no one about it. The original I left with the only person I would trust, not even my family knows them. I didn't get to finish that last work because one of his men restrained me and hit me in the back. Making me stumble facing away from him, as I was about to turn around next thing I know the world is going dark." He says getting more emotional but now keeping his calm a little more after physical effort. Just what happened and why is this so trying.
