Hope, Such a fleeting thing. Beautiful and empowering letting man achive things beyond their wildest imaginations, fueling their drive towards a brighter, better future.
Alas the truth is far more sinister. Hope is but an illusion, hiding the truth of this ugly, decaying world. For if the blindfold of hope be lifted, man would be confronted with the unfortunate reality that is.
Wars, Famine, Death, Decline all caused by the machinations of the truly powerful, people both in the light and the shadows, holding the fate of our planet and our species within the palms of their hands.
In todays world Hope was truly and utterly bullsh*it, for what was there to hope for?
The survival of a dying world? It's life being leached out of it slowly and gradually by the parasites known as humans.
Truly the only thing to hope for was the sweet embrace of a quick painless Death.
These were the thoughts of 22 year old college student Damien Bellator as he sat in a sparsely populated metro car looking at the recent news of the ongoing genocide taking place not more than 1400 kilometers away.
The fact that this has been going on for months now with no actions being taken by the world powers was what nailed it in him. There truly was no hope for this world. With its sick, demented unrepentant residents causing untold harm upon one another.
'This is getting way too depressing now, and people wonder why I don't see a future for myself in a world like this' he lamented as he stowed away his phone back into his pocket.
His musing were abruptly halted as his body jerked sharply onto the empty seats besides him as a result of the train coming to a screeching halt.
He heard screams of pain and confusion all around him as the earth started violently shaking almost as if it were trembling jostling him out of his currently uncomfortable position as he fell onto the floor of the cabin managing to use his arms to stop his head from colliding with the sanatarily questionable floor.
Embarrassed and flustered he quickly stood up rising to his full length of 194 centimeters hoping nobody took notice of his unsightly situation, but as he looked around he noticed wasn't the only one who had taken an unfortunate trip to the floor which admittedly made him feel a lot better about his situation.
He looked left and right noticing there to be around 20 people in the whole train, which made sense considering they were approaching the last stop of the line, the one he got off at to continue his commute towards his university.
As he watched everyone starring to regain their bearings he made sure his backpack was alright while waiting for an announcement over the intercom explaining the reason for the abrupt stop.
'They probably had to stop because of the earthquake but why haven't they announced anything yet, better yet why haven't they started moving again since the ground isn't shaking anymore' he thought, slightly confused but there was a growing sense of dread in his heart that grew overwhelming when the lights in the train went out leaving the surroundings a pitch black not often seen.
There was a resurgence to the screams as a few passengers were freaked out by what was at first an inconvenience growing to become the stuff of nightmares.
Damien quickly reclaimed his seat next the his backpack and hurriedly reached into his pocket to reach for his phone, but before he could do that he could see again.
What he saw wasn't his surroundings though, instead it was an almost innocent looking transparent blue screen floating in the middle of his vision, with only four words, four words that would be a herald to a future nobody thought would come this soon.
[Welcome to the Apocalypse]
