Maura and her husband walked quickly across the hospital corridor, heading towards the Intensive Care Unit. Their faces were full of anxiety, with their eyes fixed straight ahead. A few nurses and doctors could be seen passing them on the opposite side of the corridor, but the two didn't seem to notice the presence of others. They were only focused on their goal and continued to run as fast as they could. Her husband continued to guide Maura while holding her hand tightly and providing much-needed support at this difficult time. Hopefully, they would arrive at the ICU room as soon as possible.
"Be careful Maura, you just woke up from your fainting spell. You have to take it slow. We can only pray that your father is okay." Dimas said trying to encourage Maura.
Maura hesitantly approached her mother in front of the ICU room door. During this time, her mother often spoke harsh words to her, making Maura feel reluctant to talk to her. But this time, she could not help but feel worried about her father who was being treated in the room.
"Mama... sorry to interrupt. How is father? Is it getting better? Why did I get the news that Father had a stroke and entered into a hypertensive condition? Wasn't he fine earlier?" asked Maura in a soft but trembling voice.
Maura's mother looked surprised by her daughter's arrival. She froze for a bit before finally answering, "No good news yet. The doctor is still monitoring her condition there. I don't know about that." She said in a sarcastic tone
Maura bowed her head, trying to hold back her sadness and worry. But she still wanted to know more about her father's condition.
"Mama, can I come in to see my father for a while?" asked Maura again with anxious expectation.
Mrs. Maura thought for a moment and then shook her head.
"It's okay. Why would you go inside, your father is unconscious. It's useless. What are you coming back here for anyway?"
Maura couldn't believe what she was hearing. Finally, without Mona's permission, she rushed into the room and found her father lying weakly on the bed. Although she still looked pale, she felt a little relief to see her father still breathing.
"Hey, Dad, how are you?" asked Maura as she reached for her father's hand.
However, there was no response, unlike earlier. Making Maura cry bitterly. If She hadn't come home, maybe Wiranto's situation would have been fine.
"I'm sorry Dad. I'm sorry that I couldn't take care of you." Maura said in a soft voice.
Kila smiled as she saw Dimas standing and staring at the ICU door. She walked up to him and smiled flirtatiously in front of him. However, Dimas ignored her completely.
"Dim, I want to talk, is that okay? I want to discuss something with you."
"What is it? If it's something unimportant, I can't discuss it. Please don't bother me, we don't have any relationship anymore."
"I know Maura is already your second wife, but I also have the right to live with you. We have a child together, how can you just leave us?"
"I told you before, I have married Maura and want to focus on building a family with her. I won't abandon the family I've built for you guys for a child that's not mine. Don't you dare call that child mine!"
"But Dim, I know you will eventually be able to accept this child, just imagine, our child together, must be so beautiful and smart. And I have prepared everything, both for me and for our child. Please think again, don't waste this opportunity."
"I'm sorry Kila, but I've already decided to take responsibility for the existing family. I can't change my decision."
"Alright, then. I can't force you. But remember, you just ruined my life and your son's. You will regret it in the future."
"It was never our intention to ruin your life, Kila. I just want to live my life in peace with my family. I hope you can understand that. Because the one who ruined your life in the first place was yourself!"
Mona, who did not accept that her son was rejected by Dimas, certainly acted.
"Dimas, don't be insolent. You should find out what the law is for a husband who divorces his pregnant wife. Even if you insist on separating from Kila. But you can't." Mona finally spoke up and that made Kila smile.
"That's right. What my mother said, we can't separate Dimas, whether you want it or not you have to accept me and take me back to your house." Kila said trying to approach Dimas but he quickly avoided her.
"Don't dream, no I won't bring you into my house even though it's true that you and I can't separate, because you are pregnant, but I don't care because I don't want to raise a child from adultery, and also from a woman like you," Dimas said firmly and coincidentally Maura had returned from the ICU room and she was surprised to hear her husband's words.
"Stop, why are you still fighting about this? I want to ask you what you did to your father to make him like this, he was fine earlier, there is no way he suddenly entered a critical period like this, what did you do?" asked Maura with a sharp look.
Whereas all this time Maura had never done that. Let alone staring at them with a sharp gaze, talking in a high tone alone Maura did not dare.
Kila of course immediately narrowed her eyes at her sister's words.
"Why? Is that man so important to you Maura? Hasn't he always sided with me and never defended you? Then why is he currently sick you are so worried. Never mind. Let it be better if he dies quickly, so we can get his inheritance." said Kila without worrying about her father's condition.
Plak. Maura slapped Kila's face so hard that Kila fell. The anger that she had been harboring finally came out to Kila.
"Watch what you say, Kila. You are indeed my sister. But it's not appropriate for you to pray for my father to die quickly!"
