When Gu Xiaobei got up in the early morning, Chen Qiumei had already prepared breakfast and placed it on the table: millet porridge, steamed bread, and small pickled vegetables.
After Liu Mei sat down, she picked up an egg without looking at anyone. Chen Qiumei gave Liu Mei a glare and passed the remaining egg to Gu Xiaodong.
Gu Xiaobei secretly curled his lip, thinking about the patriarchal preference for boys. However, Liu Mei gave Gu Xiaobei a meaningful glance.
As Gu Xiaobei picked up his bag preparing to leave, Chen Qiumei suddenly exclaimed, "Xiaobei, are you really moving out?"
"Yes, didn't I tell you? I went house-hunting on Sunday." Gu Xiaobei replied nonchalantly.
"It's so dangerous for you to live outside by yourself, and your brother, he shouldn't have agreed to this." Chen Qiumei complained to Gu Xiaodong.
"Moving out is good, otherwise I wouldn't even want to come back to this house." Liu Mei casually retorted before leaving with her bag.
