As the birds chirped they could not sense a weak murderous vibe flowing from the window of the south corridor.
Radha looked at her son who was looking from the window outside with a solemn look on his face. If she had not stopped him 3 days previously she had no doubt that her son would shoot the birds.
In the past, he also did not like to wake up early in the morning.
But now she knew he absolutely hated it!
Haran had also seen Radha observing him silently, but he did not say anything.Originally, in his previous life, he was a night owl. After retiring from the brigade the first thing he did was to reinforce the building with soundproof walls.
But now…forget it.
The main question in front of him was…what to do now?
He could not be an officer anymore. He had done it for 60 years and, even after that, he had been giving consultation to his juniors whenever they faced tough problems.
But as someone who had more and more insights about human nature, his interactions with people also became less and less.
He also got colder with people.
As Haran was reminiscing about his previous life, suddenly he heard shouting from outside the room.
And his mother went to check out what was going on. She came back in 10 minutes with disbelief written in her face.
"Mom. What happened?"
Radha still could not understand what was going on.
"Well, a person has died…. The relatives are saying that it is because of the doctor's negligence."
" Mom… Please don't explain in syllables. Please tell me what happened from beginning to end. I need the complete story," Haran said impatiently.
Radha looked at her son with a solemn look on her face," Haran, don't take human life so cheaply. Can't you see a person has died? Why are you acting so coldhearted?"
" Well, I am seriously bored here… So when I heard someone had died I thought there was some drama going on" Haran said sheepishly.
No way.He was scared by the aura of his mother.
Seeing that her son had accepted his mistake, Radha calmed down but still said somewhat solemnly," Well you can't disrespect the dead, is that okay?"
" Yes now please tell me what is going over there", Haran said in a somewhat controlled voice.
"A patient has died in bed…. And the relatives are clamoring that it may be due to the doctor's negligence."
" How come they are so sure it is the doctor's negligence… Do they have any evidence for that?" Haran asked, puzzled. If the hospital was going to pursue their legal rights, then these people would be damned.
" Well, the patient died with his breath ventilator on his face. The nurse had gone for a few minutes outside to attend to another patient. When she came back, she saw that this guy's chest was not following any breathing pattern. She went near the patient to check thoroughly. But by that time, the patient had already expired."
"Where were the relatives at that time?"
" They were outside, it seems…they said they had gone to arrange funds for discharge."
" Discharge", Haran hummed," Whether he was coming back to his health?"
" Yes ", Radha replied," He was admitted four days prior to you. The day before yesterday I had heard his hearty laughter… See the pettiness of life."
Haran was nowhere interested in the philosophy of life. The days of his previous life were worth enough to ponder on that. But his only weakness was gossip. And after having this big incident happening in another room and not having an inkling of why it had happened….
Haran thought that his powers were weakened. He should thoroughly understand the situation, why it has happened and what will be the consequence consequences of surviving in this world or any other world because of that situation!!
