I was out of breath.
As soon as those red trucks turned on my street, I began to sprint, following them, praying to the Lord that it was not my home. I could barely make out Teddy tailing behind me; he, too, was running. I rounded the corner, and what I saw made my heart drop. My home was engulfed in bright flames, and I could practically feel the heat from that street corner.
In a blink, I started to run again. Just as I made it to the line of officers blocking my way, firefighters began to try to control the fires. The roaring flames were out of control, i knew they feared it would spread to the rest of the building around it.
I tried to step around the Officer, but he put out his arm, hitting my chest.
"Ma'am, step back!" he shouted over the noise, alarms still ringing around us.
"This is my home! Where is my mother, my sister?!" I yell as his eyes widened and he whipped his head to the house.
