Three days, it took three days and I have a mountain of reports on my desk.
I put them into 3 groups to help organize the mess.
The first was a Hearsay pile. It was full of accounts of what people have heard around town, in the theatre troop, within the gang, hell even about what someones family wrote to them from Italy. This could come in handy for other purposes but it would be for a later time.
The second was a sets of very faint leads. Yes, they could have some clues, but it was too fuzzy for me, and so I have the people who reported those leads to investigate themselves as they could get me a better information and it makes them relax knowing they had followed my orders and I gave them new ones as reward.
