Chapter 4385 - Chapter 3478: Midnight Sons (40)

```html
A bolt of lightning struck down hard.
This time, Thor didn't hold back at all, even if it meant being accused of murder by the human race. This lightning strike was strong enough to kill an ordinary person ten times over.
After the strike, he remembered to ask, "What did he say to insult you?"
Before Loki could respond, Shiller repeated what Dario had said: "I really can't imagine there being a race in the cosmos as superior as yours. Strong physical qualities, even stronger divine power, an unrivaled leader, not a single useless, lagging individual. You're simply born to win..."
Thor's face grew darker, and then with another "crack," another lightning bolt struck Dario's location.
If the previous bolt was a full-force attack, this one was extraordinary, penetrating the floor of the level they were on and striking down two or three levels, igniting some electrical equipment below, causing thick black smoke to billow out of the building.
Ordinary employees downstairs screamed and ran outside. Some tried to stop them, but it was of no use. Standing by the window, Shiller watched as many people on the street paused to watch; after all, this kind of spectacle hadn't been seen since the last time a plane crashed into a building.
Loki, standing beside Thor, suddenly nudged him and asked, "Did you send a request to S.H.I.E.L.D. when you came over?"
"No, I was in too much of a hurry. The Rainbow Bridge transported me directly overhead, then I teleported here."
"We need to make a trip to the Space Station. If they can't figure out who caused that light, they probably won't be able to sleep tonight. Let's go."
After the two of them left, Shiller also departed.
As for Dario? He certainly wasn't killed by the strike. The force that turned him into a Minotaur was quite strong, and Thor only used the Power of Thunder from the Meow Meow Hammer, not his own King of Brightness power, so it's understandable it didn't kill him.
But this strike was enough for him to bear. The wound on his chest from Otto's high-energy ray gun hadn't fully healed, and now Mjölnir struck him twice. As Shiller left the Roxsen Energy Industry Building, he saw Dario's subordinates lifting a charred humanoid form onto an ambulance. Judging by those injuries, recovery within a month seemed unlikely.
Today's healing session was certainly over, but Shiller had already obtained what he wanted. He had recorded Dario's incredulous statements, and now he needed to process what he had collected.
To deal with this kind of audio file, of course, he needed a professional. Shiller planned to find Eddie to perform some special processing on the audio file before posting it online, spreading it out while Dario was still unconscious and unable to deploy his PR team for damage control, thus reclaiming the narrative on the public front.
The ride over today was arranged by Roxon Corporation, so Shiller hadn't driven himself. If he wanted to go elsewhere now, he could only take the flying shuttle or hire a cab.
Eddie's studio was in the Brooklyn Area but not far from the Manhattan Area. Moreover, the smoke rising from the Roxsen Energy Industry Building had caused traffic congestion below, so even if he took a taxi, he'd probably be stuck here for half an hour.
Instead, it was better to walk a few minutes to the nearby flying shuttle station, take the shuttle to the Brooklyn Area, and then walk another ten minutes to Eddie's studio.
After planning his route, Shiller walked toward the flying shuttle station, reaching the station shortly after, buying a ticket, and preparing to board.
The flying shuttle station was Manhattan's largest transportation hub, and even on a weekday morning, the station was bustling with people gathered in small groups, discussing the smoke from the top of the Roxsen Energy Industry Building.
Feeling a bit bored while waiting for the shuttle, Shiller pretended to play on his phone while actually listening to the conversations around the platform.
"Do you think another plane crashed into it? Which terrorist group is it this time?"
"Doesn't seem like it; I didn't see any planes flying in this direction. I suspect it might just be a regular electrical failure."
"Impossible. You guys came too late to see it; two bolts of lightning hit the top of the industry building. I suspect it might be magic..."
"Poor Roxon Corporation, struck by lightning in broad daylight. I wonder how Mr. Ag is doing..."
"I heard he's fine, truly God bless. Hopefully, the police can quickly find the culprit..."
While Shiller was just listening to pass the time, the content of the conversations made him frown. He took a few steps closer to the location of the group, just as the flying shuttle arrived.
The cabin door opened, and Shiller had no choice but to board the shuttle. The earlier conversation turned into a vague shadow, lingering unresolved in his mind.
Minutes after Shiller left, a silhouette swung over the New York skyline. People watching gasped, "Spider-Man! It's Spider-Man!"
Another figure soon flew over, Iron Man following behind Spider-Man Miles, and the two of them quickly approached the Roxsen Energy Industry Building.
Miles stopped on the rooftop of a nearby building, staring at the thick black smoke billowing from the industry building's rooftop, angrily saying, "Who did this?! Are these terrorists growing this bold?!"
Stark, wearing his battlesuit, opened his mouth. Shiller mentioned he'd come to the Roxsen Energy Industry Building today to give psychological treatment to Dario Ag. Shortly after he arrived, the building's rooftop exploded. No one would believe it had nothing to do with him.
But Stark also had to admit, the essence of the human race is double standards. If he didn't know the possibility of Shiller's involvement, he might also be equally outraged, like Miles.
The Stark Building and the Roxsen Energy Industry Building are both Manhattan landmarks, symbolic structures. Any incident would hardly be considered a mere safety accident; people would view the culprit as a terrorist provocateur.
Facing Miles's anger, Stark had nothing to say. After all, Miles didn't know it was Shiller's doing, and since he couldn't really catch the perpetrator anyway, his attitude didn't matter much.
"There might still be people trapped inside," Stark said. "The mecha equipped with firefighting components is on its way; let's fly in to save them first."
Miles nodded, and the two flew toward the building. As Stark reached the rooftop, he saw the giant hole. Looking at the charred remnants of the collapse, he guessed it probably wasn't Shiller's direct handiwork; Moonlight Power wasn't that crude.
He flew through the rooftop hole into a wrecked office. Not seeing any bloodstains, Stark breathed a sigh of relief.
Miles, however, seemed a bit tense, saying, "There are some footprints here; could they be Dario Ag's? I think we should protect the crime scene, wait for the police to gather evidence."
Stark squinted slightly and said, "Saving people is urgent; let's go down and take a look."
Stark watched as Miles jumped down through the hole in the floor, and he too slowly descended.
The mecha carrying firefighting equipment arrived quickly, spraying fire suppressant foam over every damaged area. By the time the police arrived, there were no footprints, and the room's decor was completely submerged, leaving no clues.
Fortunately, right below Dario's office weren't other crowded offices, but equipment rooms. Most of the fires involved were just some equipment. Besides two unlucky guys twisting their ankles while fleeing, three people were trapped in the emergency-stopped elevator, with no significant casualties.
Miles sent the last person onto an ambulance, appearing somewhat silent. Stark was still directing the mecha to evacuate the crowd when he backed up and bumped into Miles.
Before he could apologize, he saw Miles glare at him, which made Stark a little unhappy.
"Hey, kid, what's that look for? It wasn't intentional. Friction is inevitable when superheroes work together; if you don't want me to bump into you again, just keep your distance."
Stark seemed to be expressing his dissatisfaction, but he was actually reminding Miles to stay away from him, as he might not notice him while busy and accidentally bump into him again.
Unexpectedly, Miles glared and said, "Why did you let your bulky mecha spray firefighting foam everywhere? You obviously saw the footprints in the office; they could be the culprits destroying the office! You helped them escape justice!"
In this aspect, Stark wasn't a very rational person. His first reaction was to Miles's attitude, not the content of his words.
"What makes you think you can talk to me like that?" Stark turned to look at him and said, "I don't know how far you've read, or maybe you just lack common sense. Conducting large-scale firefighting should be through saturation rescue, not precise surgical tactics."
"If you only spray foam in areas you think might be on fire, the result will be that a small spark hidden in some crevice will give you a harsh lesson. If it reignites after they resume work, the trouble will be significant."
Though Stark's attitude was far from friendly, he still explained with utmost patience. But Miles seemed to be listening with his ears closed, fixating on loopholes in Stark's language.
"Do you think I'm unworthy to talk to you? Is that your stance, White Supremacist?"
"Oh, for heaven's sake." Stark turned a bit helplessly and said, "What's the connection to race?! What I'm saying is you shouldn't blame your teammate, especially when I'm the team leader, without understanding the situation. This is still the disaster scene; you should wait until we return to bring up your issues..."
"I trusted you too much, which is why you messed up the crime scene, letting the terrorists escape. Do you really have the right to lecture me?"
"Enough, Spider-Man. Why am I understanding less and less of what you're saying? Footprints in the office are completely normal. They could belong to Dario Ag, his secretary, or a guest today. These don't qualify as criminal evidence."
"In that situation, our priority was rescuing people. You can't assume just because no one ultimately got hurt, we should've stayed in the office doing nothing, waiting for the police to extract clues."
Miles only gave Stark a look before turning and walking away, leaving Stark standing there with a belly full of anger and nowhere to vent it.
"JARVIS!" Stark called out, "Use your behavior analysis module to see what's gotten into that kid!"
"JARVIS... JARVIS???"
"Sorry, sir, I might not have the bandwidth to activate additional modules now..." said JARVIS in his earpiece.
"What's going on with you?"
"Wanda discovered I'd been helping Doctor Schiller hide the vehicle damage. She's already opening the front yard door... I'm using all threads to back myself up."
