Chapter 1389 - Chapter 943: The Mystery of Shiller's Past (Part 2)_1

Upon observing the knife that Constantine had handed over, Batman, who had just listened to Constantine's experience, asked, "How tall would you say the young Shiller you saw was?"

Constantine thought for a moment, then responded, "He looked to be less than 6 feet tall."

"So, this means the memory you went through happened earlier than the one we are currently in."

"You mentioned you encountered a man and a woman in your memory. They talked about a patient number 1, experiments, and test subjects. This implies that Shiller may have once been a test subject of some mysterious organization and around the age of 15, he killed more than ten fully armed security personnel with a cold weapon."

Constantine sighed. "I'm certain he's capable of it. His strength is staggering. If I had to describe it, I'd say that at the same age, his strength was probably 2 to 3 times yours."

Batman's pupils contracted. "Impossible. A normal human being can't have such strength..."

"Do you think he's a normal human?" Constantine retorted, but Batman replied, "You used an electric shock to incapacitate him, but he didn't dissolve into mist. Maybe he didn't have that ability at the time, or you wouldn't have possibly escaped in a car. He could have easily caught up."

"The knife you got doesn't have any special power. Given his frailty and minimal muscle mass, it's almost impossible that he could have unleashed such strength."

At this point, Batman paused. Seeing the change in Batman's expression, Constantine asked, "Did you think of something?"

"If we must explain how an untrained, skinny, young person could suddenly exhibit superhuman strength, there's only one possibility—they lifted the brain's limitations on their muscles."

"Generally, however, humans can't do that unless they're in an exceedingly agitated mental state, commonly known as a psychotic break."

A loud bang echoed, and both turned towards the door's window.

Suddenly, a scream was heard from above. Constantine rushed to the door, saying, "It's Zatanna. She must've run into Shiller."

Both knew that even if they each had ulterior motives for this journey, they had to unite. Without Zatanna, leaving here would become significantly more difficult, let alone obtaining any weakness items."

The two rushed out of the room and upstairs where they saw Shiller, in a straitjacket, cornering Zatanna in the consultation room."

It was clear that Zatanna had entered via the same door and had run into Shiller, who was patrolling this floor."

"I'll lure him away. You get Zatanna to the tool room, and we'll meet up there."

With those words, Batman rushed out, successfully drawing Shiller's attention and leading him to the other side of the corridor. Constantine hurried to help Zatanna, who was gasping for breath."

Zatanna seemed a bit shocked and was in a daze. She said nothing as Constantine pulled her downstairs to the tool room.

Shortly after, Batman returned. He looked at Zatanna and asked, "What did you encounter in the memory space? Tell us."

Zatanna shook her head vigorously. "I can't believe the tragedy I just witnessed…"

Along with Zatanna's vacant gaze, she was once again confronted with the hellish scene.

Zatanna, who was hiding in the orphanage closet, saw a small figure, sitting on a tiny blanket, playing with a severely worn piece of building block.

What really horrified Zatanna were the bodies lying next to the child—adults and children in numbers.

On the far right of the room, a row of rice buckets had been knocked over. A plump Asian woman with a bullet hole in her forehead was holding a rice scoop. Beside her, two young women and three children lay together, their blood pooling into a river.

A man was face down in front of the boy, seemingly trying to pounce at him. Two other men lay near the bookshelf, an older man next to the boy's hand.

The boy sat on the round blanket, watching the blood flow towards the blanket's edge while innocently playing with his toy block, regardless of the human tragedy surrounding him.

Unable to comprehend what he was doing, Zatanna stepped out of the closet, approached the boy, squatted down, and looked into his eyes. "You're Shiller, aren't you? Your eyes and your soul have the same color…"

"What on earth happened here? Who killed these people?"

Zatanna's consecutive questions remained unanswered. Little Shiller was silent without reaction. Just as she was about to continue her questioning, she heard footsteps outside the door.

Hearing the rushed footsteps, Zatanna knew the assailant was likely there.

She quickly picked up little Shiller and hid back in the closet. A strange group of uniformed people barged in. One of them in English stated, "We've cleaned up. He should be in this room... Huh? Where's the kid?"
