Chapter 1390 - Chapter 943: The Mystery of Shiller's Past (Part 2)_2

The speaker immediately ran into the room, looked around, and didn't see the target he was looking for. However, another person of higher status laid his eyes on the block of Lego left behind by little Shiller.

He picked up the Lego block. When his fingers touched the block, he felt that it was still warm. "The target didn't go far, it should still be in this room, search carefully," he said.

Watching the shadow approach the wardrobe, Zatanna glanced down at young emotionless Shiller. She gritted her teeth, and the moment the figure approached the closet, flames ignited and a violent explosion sent both the person and the closet door flying.

Zatanna took young Shiller and rushed towards the door with gunfire following closely. She heard someone yelling, "Chase him! We can't let No. 1 get away! He is the one with the most promising prospect. We cannot afford to lose him!"

Shiller seemed young and skinny, but Zatanna couldn't run with a child in her arms, so she first led him a certain distance away and then conjured a ring of fire in mid-air and jumped through it with young Shiller.

All the people in the room chased them into the corridor, nobody noticing that back in the room, a ring of fire appeared mid-air, and Zatanna jumped through it with Shiller again saying, "This is a blind eye technique."

However, then she saw the bodies scattered across the floor, felt her fingertips trembling. Zatanna was no stranger to grand scenes, but the number of bodies and amount of blood in such a small room gave her chills.

At this moment, young Shiller slipped out of her hand and walked to the center of the round rug to pick up the Lego block. Zatanna quickly followed, squatted down and held his shoulder saying, "What on earth happened, Shiller, tell me about this Lego block…"

Zatanna grabbed the wrist of young Shiller and took the Lego block away without any resistance. Staring at the worn, unremarkable block, Zatanna was clueless.

But suddenly, young Shiller rushed towards the door, and Zatanna, still lost in her thoughts, didn't react in time. By the time she turned around, young Shiller had already run into the corridor.

"Come back quickly! They will kidnap you!" Zatanna yelled anxiously.

She too rushed out of the door, but the mob had already rushed over. Zatanna wanted to grab young Shiller, but a burst of gunfire made her create a magic shield to protect herself first.

At that moment, a group of people rushed up and one of them whisked young Shiller away. Zatanna's card attack knocked down several people, but she failed to stop what was happening.

The gang was very well-trained, quickly taking their target and getting into a car as Zatanna stood in the same spot, stomping her foot in frustration.

"They are definitely professionals!" Zatanna in the utility room emphasized, "They may have injected Shiller with some sort of drug, a tranquilizer perhaps, why else wouldn't he resist or say a word?"

Batman and Constantine exchanged a look, connecting their own experiences to complete the entire story.

"Shiller's childhood was probably spent in an orphanage, and based on what you said, you saw Chinese text, which means this orphanage might not be located on the East Coast, not even in America," Batman concluded.

"It's not surprising if Shiller is not American, but this information contradicts sources we previously gathered," Constantine interjected, "He should've spent his childhood in Germany. He should be a German, and he has plucked a feather from Lucifer at about the same age as the young Shiller you saw."

Zatanna frowned, replying, "No, this is not a conflict, because we don't know where those people took young Shiller, what if they brought him to Germany?"

"That's another possibility," Constantine stroked his chin and continued, "From the memories I saw, young Shiller undertook some kind of experiment. Near the end of the experiment, he reappeared in the country of the orphanage."

"The organization that experimented on him, it's unlikely they would select an experimental site in a foreign Eastern land they're unfamiliar with. In that era, the international situation was basically stable, a bipolar world had formed, and pulling off such things in other countries was not that easy."

"Did you hear them speak in a British accent?" Zatanna murmured to herself: "I think I did too, but it wasn't exactly exquisite, not as flamboyant as the way you speak…."

"There's one thing you need to consider: spies all over the world speak English, many of them not only speak English, but also the languages of many enemy countries. Or they could be natives of those countries. Language is not a decisive factor in determining someone's nationality," Batman interjected.

"If we follow our earlier train of thought, Shiller was born in an orphanage in an Eastern country. One day, a group from a mysterious organization stormed into this orphanage, killed almost everyone, and took Shiller away."

"We know that, in reality, a young Shiller once appeared in Germany. So, let's assume they took little Shiller to Germany and conducted some sort of experiment on him. This experiment gave him strength far beyond an average person's."

"Then one day, Shiller returned to the Eastern country. This could be a necessary stage of the experiment, or perhaps an accident occurred. The 'deregulation' mentioned by that group could possibly have to do with this."

Looking at Constantine, Batman continued, "But everything you experienced later suggests they didn't succeed. Shiller, who had undergone professional training and possessed superhuman strength, likely killed everyone involved at this stage."

"Then next, we get to the part that I experienced. A local organization, which called itself 'The Ninth Management Bureau', admitted Shiller to a psychiatric hospital. There's a high chance The Ninth Management Bureau discovered Shiller's abnormality, subdued him, and had him sent here for treatment."

"This can also explain why I saw in the medical records that Shiller was extremely aggressive and managed to breach security measures every time. It even mentioned that Shiller had professional training. This so-called 'professional training' might be related to professional killing, possibly provided by that mysterious organization."

"So now, our main points of doubt are a few, the first and most important is, what exactly was the experiment about? How could it have given young Shiller such enormous strength?"

Staring at the deep thought on Batman's face, Constantine said, "Didn't you just mention there's only one possibility that could give such an emaciated person such formidable strength?"

With a deep frown, Batman said, "But there are many issues with that as well. Firstly, suspending muscle restrictions will only increase strength by about 20%-30%. Even when in an extremely crazy and excited state, it could at most double."

"Furthermore, this state of excitement imposes a huge burden on the body. After suspending muscle restrictions and maintaining the excited state for a while, serious consequences might ensue. This is why psychiatric hospitals proactively use sedatives for patients who have entered the excited state."

"If they're allowed to stay excited, they might harm themselves before hurting others."

"Besides, the base value determines the degree of increase. If a person has hardly exercised his muscles, he won't be able to unleash great strength when in an excited state."

Batman fell into deep thought, yet Constantine suggested, "Is it possible that Shiller is genetically gifted?"

Just as Batman was about to rebut with probability theory, he quickly realized it might be possible. He heard Constantine say, "They kept emphasizing that patient number one is special. Considering the international situation at the time, they wouldn't have barged in if it wasn't for something very important."

"I know what you're about to say, extremely special talents are rare, but in reality, there are two standing right in front of you. Every person capable of using magic is a one in a million."

Unusually, Batman didn't adopt his usual aloof demeanor towards Constantine. After thinking for a moment, he said, "You could be right; it's possible. If it weren't for his extremely rare talent, the subsequent events might not have happened."

"Then there remains one question: how does he go from being a mental patient to becoming a psychologist?"
