Chapter 109 - Black Robe Inspection Team Spin-off · Prologue_4

Shiller, standing at the table, was replacing the new vials of serum on the rack while reminiscing about the plot of this world.

The Black Robe Inspection Team is a superhero anti-comic series. Here, almost all the superheroes with superpowers are villains, including many well-known compatriots.

These superheroes all come from a company called Vought, which arranges scenes after scenes to make these superheroes look like heroes to win public affection and earn their cash.

The TV series of The Black Robe Inspection Team has always revolved around Vought Corporation's dissatisfaction with being just a nurturing idol company; they want to privatize the war.

The reason why this series is called The Black Robe Inspection Team is because another group of people are dissatisfied with the hypocritical and cruel actions of these superheroes. Therefore, they formed the Black Robe Inspection Team to stop their evil deeds.

Lampman plays an important role in this series because he once used his superpower to kill the grandson of the previous leader of the Black Robe Inspection Team.

Vought Corporation announced to the public that Lampman had died, but in fact, he was thrown into this mental asylum and used as a human incinerator.

The mental hospital where Shiller is located is called "Forest Sage." It has a very special background and has also appeared in the TV series. In short, it is a laboratory for creating superheroes. Vought Corporation uses a special serum here to transform and nurture superheroes, develop their special abilities, and then make money out of it.

Although this is not a real mental hospital, Shiller is a real doctor. He has conducted very formal treatment for the patients here. However, during the treatment, inevitably, some troublesome people stir things up, security personnel always come out to cause trouble, so they disappear.

Perhaps because this hospital has not uploaded detailed experimental data and information for a long time, Storm Woman, one of the seven-member group, will come to inspect in advance.

The next day, approaching dusk, a luxury limousine pulled up at the slightly dilapidated entrance of the mental hospital. A black-haired woman got out of the car, walking and talking on her phone, "Either it's the data entry clerks you hired lacking in dedication, or that old server is having issues again. Hasn't it always been this way?"

With that, she opened the iron doors outside the mental hospital and walked in. Before even making it inside the building, she stopped in her tracks, then said quizzically, "...Why do I smell blood?"

The woman scrunched her nose, to which the person on the phone responded, "Storm Woman? What's up? Why aren't you speaking?"

"No... Nothing, I just..." Storm Woman narrowed her eyes as she scanned the old hospital. From its familiar exterior, she seemed to sense an odd, chilling presence.

"Hmm." She hung up the phone abruptly and then strode off inside – typical of Storm Woman's way of handling things. She was confident that nothing mysterious or spooky in the world could intimidate her.

At the top of the entrance steps, light fell on the door, causing a hazy halo to appear on the glass and obscuring Storm Woman's vision of what was inside.

She reached out a hand, hesitated briefly before the glass door, but pushed it open nonetheless.

Then, she saw inside the main lobby of the hospital, rows upon rows of neatly seated "patients" waiting their turn.

Storm Woman stood frozen in her tracks.

Storm Woman had killed many people, there was no question about that, but she had never seen so many bizarre deaths. The sight before her eyes was overwhelming, the sheer volume of information it conveyed made her mind grind to a halt.

The light streamed in from the picture windows on both sides, and all the patients sat in the same posture - their hands clutching their chest, placing their hands to the side of their necks, and tilting their heads as if in prayer.

Once her brain had processed this information, Storm Woman clutched her throat and began retching the moment she realized what had actually occurred.

Suddenly, a "click" sounded on the hospital's loudspeaker, like the sound of a microphone just turned on.

Storm Woman jumped in shock, she choked back a sudden cough, struggled to straighten her back, and gasped out, "Who? Who's there?!!"

"Patient no. 3203, please proceed to the 201 consulting room for consultation. Patient no. 3203, please proceed to the 201 consulting room..."

A low male voice sounded from the speakers, a voice Storm Woman had never heard. She shook her head, her neck muscles twitching violently. After the initial shock, an indescribable fury welled up within her.

In an instant, an invisible cyclone tore through the hospital lobby, shredding everything to pieces. Debris, dust along with limbs, and blood fell to the ground. Storm Woman, taking big gasps of air, laughed soundlessly, "You won't scare me with your cheap tricks!"

Suddenly, a voice from the loudspeaker that had fallen to the ground came again, "Please note, it's time for the patients' exercise. Non-essential personnel, please proceed immediately to the safety room and wait. Do not leave until you hear the announcement."

To repeat, it's time for the patients' exercise..."
