Chapter 110 - Black Robe Inspection Team Spin-off · Prologue_5

In the midst of the broadcast, Storm Woman suddenly heard faint footsteps behind her. She swung around to see a man in hospital garb, shimmering with electricity, standing behind her.

A smirk of disdain appeared on Storm Woman's face. She was about to raise her hand to kill him when she heard even more footsteps approaching from behind. She turned back around to find an endless number of hospital-gowned patients slowly moving towards her.

Storm Woman stepped back and said, "What do you think you're doing? I'm a member of the Vought Corporation's group of seven! You think you can take me down? What are you trying to do? Stop it now..."

Seeing not only did they not stop, but they actually began to quicken their pace, Storm Woman felt an unexpected pang of panic in her heart. Although she knew she could defeat them all, being surrounded by her own kind stirred an instinctual fear in her.

Storm Woman swung her hand and a patient at the forefront instantly disintegrated into a cloud of blood mist. She let out a wild laugh, thinking that this group would scream and scatter in all directions, just like what she had experienced before.

Yet, they didn't.

The patients just stood there, somewhat numbly, staring at Storm Woman and stepping slowly towards her, like a group of marionettes or mindless zombies.

Anyone facing a group that resembled the human race, yet seemingly devoid of any sense, would feel an eerie fear sprouting from their heart. Storm Woman's psyche began to shift, she wanted to raise her hand and knock them all down, but when she lifted hand, she found her fingers trembling slightly.

The increasingly strong smell of blood kept drilling into her nose, the repressive and gloomy atmosphere of the mental hospital made everything seem even more terrifying. Storm Woman's arm began to tremble, she swallowed, stepped back and said, "Just you wait, the Vought Corporation won't let you off!"

Just as she turned to leave, an ear-piercing alarm sounded again from the broadcaster, "Patient number 3203, please proceed to consultation room 201. Patient number 3203, to consultation room 201…"

"Enough!!" Storm Woman shouted. She waved her hand, sending a powerful blast that shattered the broadcast equipment, but the broadcast did not stop. Only then did she realize that the voice above her was not coming from the broadcast…

She turned around and looked up, seeing a figure standing on the second-floor corridor, looking down at her.

At this moment, Storm Woman didn't realize that her orientation and posture had become identical to those patients who were waiting in the hall earlier.

The night deepened, the faint "hua hua" sound echoed in the dark hall, a figure with a broom was sweeping the debris and severed limbs on the ground at a leisure pace.

The rows of chairs that were originally there had been reduced to fragments under Storm Woman's furious assault. Now, the only things left in the hall were a lone chair and a black-haired female "patient".

The Lampman swept the broom past the feet of Storm Woman's body. He noticed that one of her shins was limply laying on the leg of the chair. He looked down and found that the bone inside the shin had been removed.

Shaking his head without giving it much thought, he considered that maybe it was the terrifying doctor coming up with something new during the surgery.

He swept at a leisure pace, shifting the mess created during the day to one side, clearing a path for people to walk through. He didn't understand why he didn't feel scared cleaning in such a horrifying environment alongside a corpse bound in a strange pose.

Perhaps it was because he knew that a beast that had already fed was less dangerous.

The Lampman had long discovered that Doctor Schiller would only treat one patient a day. If someone had already occupied the chair, it meant everyone else was safe.

With a sigh, he considered that Doctor Schiller had been treating Storm Woman for approximately four hours. It indicated that the doctor had eaten his fill today. Perhaps all the patients can have a good night's sleep tonight, himself included.

However, things were unpredictable. Just as he had finished his work and put away the broom in the warehouse preparing for bed, he noticed a flash of light from the window on the side of the warehouse.

The Lampman squinted his eyes. Although he hadn't left the mental hospital for a long time, he could tell that the flash was a fleeting car light.

He walked over to the window, opened it, and scanned the area. He then noticed a few dark shadows moving in a small grove not far to the east of the mental hospital.

The Lampman looked back while reaching for the light switch on the wall, turning off the lights. However, after turning off the lights, instead of leaving, he returned to the window to observe the scene outside through the glass.

Sure enough, the few individuals in the grove seemed to believe that he, the janitor, had noticed nothing unusual. Their activities began to grow bolder, even turning on the car lights twice more.

The Lampman took a deep breath, knowing that something major was happening. Swiftly, he opened the door to the warehouse and started walking towards the upper floors.

He desired to return to his room to sleep as soon as possible. Because he knew that the two spurts of car lights would most likely disturb the just-fed beast from its sleep.
