Chapter Two, "Super Powers"
==========================
I sat in complete silence, still somewhat in shock and ecstasy, but coherent enough to understand my situation.
Just based off of his words alone, it was clear he thought highly of himself, and I was sure to be killed in the end.
Adding the fact I had just murdered one of what I presume to be his henchmen...
I was surely done for.
"Do you know how... Invincible? You feel, when every time you die, you come back to life?" He asked me, my mind skipping a beat.
Was he an immortal?
"When you get to feel that encompassing, darkness, and then you just wake up."
He had crept towards me, standing just a few feet away.
"I get to die. Endlessly, and be reborn in the past, infinitely. I die today, and I will reawaken yesterday, or even a few weeks ago if I desire..." He said, kneeling to become eye level with me.
"I may be killed by even Savior himself, and I can choose to be reborn years in the past." His hand reached my chin, lightly touching it.
Of course normally I would feel disrespected, but when facing someone that could take my life in an instant, I could only stay still.
"The best part about it, is I keep all my progress!" He smiled brightly.
Looking at the man before me, I couldn't help but wonder if he differed from me.
Could he not sense I was a super like I did for him?
Surely he would be more cautious right? Even if his words were true, why would he risk an unnecessary death?
Well, it really didn't matter.
I took the chance anyway.
My hands violently jumped forward now that he was within reach.
"Gugh!"
They grasped at his neck, my hands squeezing with all their might as I bolted to my feet.
I maneuvered my way behind him, letting go and clotheslining him.
Though not with enough with enough strength to knock him over.
Instead I used the new positioning of my arm to put him in a headlock, pulling his neck up and backwards.
"Crack."
In that moment, strangely, there was a pop.
That never happened before…
Obviously, my dad grappled with me and talk me how to wrestle when I was a kid.
So, I've used this move before on girls that didn't know how to fight, but they never ended up with a broken neck…
"So I awoke in two categories?" I muttered, dropping the still live man and letting him groan limply on the floor.
There were many types of categories that peoples abilities fell under, and awakening in multiple was definitely known. If anything it was common enough to not be a secret to even us normies.
It's just that those that awaken multiple categories are, usually, serious threats with the amount of potential they possess.
I stared at the paralyzed man for a moment, my eyesight bouncing back and forth between him and my hands.
"So..., with the newfound strength I'm at least a Type 1 Savage... Then, this T-Cell consumption ability... I can't even categorize it yet." I mumbled to myself, trying to gauge my strength by testing my grip.
Of course that wouldn't work since it seemed my body overall grew stronger.
Rapidly, my eyes locked onto the man beneath me, as his breathing seemed to slow and the energy source in his… brain area, seemed to start bubbling.
Like before, I felt the pull, the source calling for me. But, this time, I felt that I had a time limit.
So of course, contrary to morally correct views, I pounced on the man.
Mercilessly, I bite straight into his head as the tugging was inexplicable.
I felt no wrongs taking a chomp out of anothers brain, only ecstasy.
I chewed the man's head thoroughly, eating nearly his entire brain, minus the stem.
It was… fulfilling… to say the least.
And, in that same moment, I felt something strange happen.
I could feel the T-Cells in my body expand and bubble, nearly tripling in size.
Then, I felt an… opening.
The vision of a tree appeared in my mind, the trunk being thick, and there being no branches or leaved.
Then suddenly, a branch sprouted, violently at that. The branch grew long, leaf after leaf sprouting from it until the branch was nearly its own miniature tree.
In that moment, I understood.
My ability did not belong to any category.
I glanced inside myself, feeling the new sensation in my brain.
It was a new ability.
Impossible! Right?
In all of history there hasn't been a single instance where a person developed a new power after having already awakened.
Not one!
Yet here I am, peaking into my… soul? Who knows, and finding a brand new extension of my super powers.
Like the man had narrated before his untimely demise, I am now an immortal.
I can die infinitely, as I can see by the blurry memories transported alongside the ability.
I can vaguely feel the hundreds of deaths of the man I've now come to know as Connor Law.
And it's hard to believe he only had this overpowered power for roughly a month.
Well, if you count his "do overs" it was nearly a year…
But that didn't matter anymore.
Now this power was mine, and from this moment forward, death wasn't the end.
I would be able to designate save points in time where I would be able to quite literally, respawn at.
That marked the beginning of my new life.
Or maybe… the beginning of my new lives? Is that more appropriate?
…
…
…
Brian Murk is a busy man.
Considering he's the District Head of the Super's Management Association here in Roswell, he doesn't have much free time.
You could only imagine the frustration and exhaustion on his face to find out there were three murders and one suspected kidnapping in one night…
Roswell was one of the safer unsafe places left in America.
Here even the Miscreants abided by the unwritten rules.
Murder gets you thrown in The Scourge, so don't commit it.
"So why in the world would you kill three people?" Murk rubbed his temples, sifting through paperwork.
From screenshots of the public opinion on the murders, to the emails from the family of one of the deceased.
"And even worse off, you cannibalize them? In all my years I've never encountered a cannibal super. The last cannibal super recorded was hundreds of years ago, why am I the one that has to deal with another?" He complained further.
"It looks like we have an investigation to commence."
