Chapter 29 - Chapter 29- Costly Power

Hearing Wrath's words caused a anger to brew inside Tru. Its stirred heavily as his magical energy enveloped his body. He felt that he had gained control of his body again but was frozen from the rage he felt.

It felt as if his insides were on fire as the rage consumed his thoughts. He only felt hot rage when the Necrocoil's symbol glowed a deep black and the subsided to where he regained his senses. Wrath noticed this but said nothing as Tru stood before her glaring at her.

'Seems like he has his own secrets, but they will be revealed in time.' thought Wrath.

She smiled slightly before raising her hands in defeat. She stood up form her throne and went stepped towards Tru. His face ran hot as she strides towards him and his anger was replaced by something else seeing her full figure before him.

He noticed that she was curvy, unable to see from before due to her wearing her armor. She had a beautiful yet frighteneing smile that complimented her shoulder length wavy hair. She bowed slightly before looking him at him in his face.

"I will have to say I was rude before, I was in a rush to make sure I made you my champion. You see 'we' have been raveling for a few weeks together and normally by first interaction I'd have made you my Champion.

Though it seems like a lot has happened that prevented that." said Wrath. Her tone was much softer than before which partially quelled Tru's rage.

"What is this 'Champion' you continue to speak about? and why me?" asked Tru, his curiosity was growing as her worlds settled into his mind.

"I come from ancient race, the Demon race to exact. We actually refer to ourselves as Ifrit's. I'm one of the 7 rulers of my race, again my name is Wrath. We seven are the most powerful of our race but we were betrayed!" Growled Wrath.

"Betrayed? Betrayed by who exactly?" asked Tru ask he could almost feel her anger channel through him. She calmed herself and turned her back to him and walked away a few steps.

"By the Angels, who else? It was clearly that cliche. We were at war, they started losing and wanted to draw up a truce. So the other six agreed because they wanted to do other things like relax, tend to their families blah blah blah." said Wrath as she made mimicking gestures with her hands.

Tru was a bit perplexed by her response by still didn't feel satisfied with her explanation yet remained silent. "Ok now how does this have to do with the Champion part of what I asked? questioned Tru.

Wrath rolled her eyes and walked to sit on her throne. "I'll get there don't worry, till then have a seat. She waved her hand and the smoky darkness formed into a seat. Tru sighed deep and took up the seat as he waited for Wrath to explain.

"Now where was I? Oh yes the treaty" said Wrath as fury filled her eyes. "I was naturally suspicious because they're angels. Everyone has this misconception that they're good and just people, but no that's not true. They have flaws if not the most of the ancient races."

She gripped the arm of the throne tightly as she continued her story. "So naturally I was on guard when they asked for a meeting. They brought their 3 leaders, Umbraxis, Oceanus, and Luciel. Little did we know we were walking into a trap set up by Oceanus, he deceived us all even his brothers.

He had conspired with the Giants and Dwarves to trap us in 7 different weapons using Primal Speech. The spell he used was forbidden and powerful but costly. After he had us sealed, normally he would have been bedridden for a few days but he died. The cowardly bastard deserved it but it brought an end to the Ancient war." said Wrath.

Her anger was gone and replaced with a deep sadness that showed heavily as the light from her eyes dimmed. "The more powerful of us took a toll on his physical state which is why he perished moments after we were sealed. Our forces and people were wiped out following the betrayal. That's where you come in." said Wrath as the light returned to her eyes.

"Me?" asked Tru.

"Yes you, I used another ancient spell that rebuilt you from fire using my own magical energy along with the magic stones that got absorbed. You are unkillable, you never tire and never again need food or sleep. You are my champion, the one who will find my brethren and and those who betrayed us." Wrath said as she stood up and a giant plume of flame gathered behind her.

It flickered hard and intensely so much that even Tru being basically fire itself could feel the heat. He shielded his eyes as his body adjusted to the heat and light. He stared at Wrath who looked like a red fire goddess standing before him.

"Ok say I do this, how can I if I can't learn new skills or rise above rank E?" asked Tru as the fire died down. Wrath smiled and pointed to the red gauntlet on his right hand.

"That gauntlet you have there is made from Ancient Viltrium Ore. A powerful magic boosting ore that can slice through anything even a Elder Dragons' scales." answered Wrath.

Tru's eyes grew wide as he had only heard of Ancient Viltrum Ore in history lessons and legends. He held the red gauntlet up to his face when he noticed the sockets went from five to one.

"What about this socket what is it for?" curiously asked Tru as he examined it. He looked to Wrath who ignored him and sat back down.

Besides what more do you need besides a man ancient weapon and an undying body?" asked Wrath who bore a maniacal smile. "Now go my energy is fading and I believe you are needed back in the real world. I'll be in touch."

Black smoke started to cover Tru and Wrath as the darkness consumed them both. Tru's vision was fading fast when Wrath gave him a thumbs up.

"Also I'm sorry in advance!"

"What do you mean?!" questioned Tru as worry filled him. Though Wrath did not answer and he awoke back in the hut. Tru quickly stood up and looked around when he saw a tub of water. He walked over and peered at his reflection.

He could see that it wasn't a dream and his skin was now red along with having amber eyes. He touched his face and was met with the cold touch of metal as his had was covered in the red gauntlet.

"Accessory mode"

Though unlike it black counter part nothing had happened. It remained in Standard mode and wasn't able to be removed even with tugging. He groaned in frustration when he began to feel like his energy was being drained rapidly.

'What the hell is going on' asked Tru as he felt cold and sweat covered his body. He felt as if he was going to be sick when he splashed some of the water on his face. It relieved some of the feel only for it to return moments later more intense than before.

He dropped to the floor and grabbed his abdomen as the pain spread throughout his body. He would have screamed in pain if his voice had not locked up.

*ding*

"Skill Strength(Passive)- Rank D has transformed to Ifrit's Strength(Passive)- Rank S"

"Skill Fortitude(Passive)- Rank D has transformed to Ifrit's Strength(Passive)- Rank S"

"Skill Pyro Mastery(Passive)- Rank F has been lost"

"Skill Mana Mastery(Passive)- Rank F has been lost"

"Skill Ifrit's Mine(Unique)(Active)-Rank E has been lost"

The pain subsided after the last message appeared. He stood up and plunged his head in the water before coming up for air. He say beside the tub when he felt his left hand tingle. He held it up and saw black smoke come from it and take the shape of Shadow.

The black snake slithered up to Tru as the latter rubbed its head. Upon touching Shadow, Tru felt significantly better and energized. Shadow climbed up on his shoulders and rested there as Tru stood o n his feet.

He walked exited the hut and was greeted with the stars and moon in the sky. He looked around the village and saw the Gobs running around carrying food to a massive feasting table in the village center.

The table had many dishes he could recognize and others he couldn't. There were loads and piles of meat along with fruit and veggies. There was a place set for all of them including himself.

In front of the large hut in the back there was a massive bon fire blazing in front of it. Tru walked toward it when he heard a familiar voice behind him.

"Gorlo was wondering when you were going to come out!"
