Lu Chen came back into the room with a frown on his face. Gazing at the TV, he let out a sigh. "I saw the man just a few hours ago. How could he go missing? You know his assistant picked up the call. He asked if Hui Lang told me anything about where he was going or who he was going to see..." He picked up the cup and took a sip. "He sounded like Hui Lang was suicidal."
Tian scoffed. "That man would not kill himself."
"How do you know?" Lu Chen's questioning gaze fell on him.
"Oh, I know alright," Tian said. After so many years of following this fellow, he knew every single detail about him—how the man doesn't like any dirt in his house, how he doesn't tolerate any spices... "That guy is a nutjob, but he definitely won't kill himself."
"Did you know him, perhaps? And... you sound like you hate him."
Tian shrugged. "Maybe I do. That man ruined my life." He angrily hugged the piglet tighter.
The piglet let out a squeak, escaped from his hold, and bit Lu Chen's pant leg. "Squeak... squeakkk..."
Lu Chen gently picked the piglet up with a smile. "Looks like someone's hungry... I've got something for you." He happily took the piglet to the kitchen and found a bowl of old rice. "This will do for now. I'll get you some nutritious feed later."
He placed the piglet down and put the food in front of it.
The piglet squinted its eyes, let out a squeak, and simply turned away from the kitchen.
Lu Chen blankly watched this. He sniffed the old rice, which had a slightly sour smell. "I thought pigs ate anything... guess I'm wrong."
Hui Lang hurriedly wiped his nostrils on the blanket on the chair. 'Oh my god! What was that smell! People eat such old things? How could he feed that to me! Even a pig won't eat something so degrading!'
Huffing, he jumped up and sat on the cozy sofa.
The angel gazed at him. "You're a weird pig."
Hui Lang rolled his eyes.
"Oh my god, did you just roll your eyes at me? Lu Chen, let's make this into our dinner."
Hui Lang snapped up and ran away.
"That's the spirit. Don't you dare undermine me, you little piglet!" Tian happily giggled.
Lu Chen came back into the room with a defeated smile. "You really like bullying that thing."
"Nah... it's fun seeing it squeak." Chuckling, he gazed up at him. "How could it understand me, though?"
"It must have been domesticated. Pigs are smarter than dogs. They can understand you very well." He gazed back at the piglet that was hiding under a clean blanket. "I'll put out a missing poster for him. His family must be missing him."
"Ehhh, but I wanted bacon..." Tian glared at the little blanket that was moving around. "Fine..."
They both settled down, watching a movie.
Lu Chen sat next to him. "Tian... can you tell me why you left home?"
Tian slouched down on the sofa, hugging the blanket tightly. "I was thrown out. Not by choice. It's because I didn't do something. I failed to comply..."
The moment Lu Chen heard it, his heart lurched. This world was a dangerous place, especially for beautiful people like Tian. He looked like a stunning cherub with his angelic features.
He had seen such youngsters being forced to do a lot of nasty stuff by their families. He didn't want that for Tian.
Lu Chen gently hugged him into his arms. "Don't ever worry. Those people will not hurt you ever again."
"Which people?" Tian confusedly hugged him back.
"Anyone. I'll not let anyone hurt you. You are safe here."
Tian smiled dazzlingly. "Okay."
For a second, Lu Chen was stunned by that beautiful smile. Shaking his head, he continued, "Do you have any work experience?"
"No..." Tian played with the edge of the blanket. The only work he had was finding a lover for that darn stonehead. That totally doesn't count as work experience.
"Okay, that's completely fine." Lu Chen gently patted his head. "A cashier job opened up in the nearby grocery store. The store owner is too old to stand there and man the shop. If you want, you can work there. The pay is not bad."
"Yes!!!" Tian shot up, jumping. "Yes!!! With that money, we can buy food!"
Lu Chen chuckled. "Yes, we can. But you don't have to worry about food. Just save up that money."
"Okay..." Tian happily gazed at him. "You're so kind. There's a special place in heaven for kind people like you. I've heard my brothers talk about it." He then glared at the TV. "And there's a special place in hell for people like him. Stonehead."
Hui Lang poked his head out. 'What did I do...?'
