Chapter 38 - Slade

After the man revealed his identity, Sebastian noticed something about him. His presence was being concealed by the two powerful humanoid beasts. It was then that he noticed they were coming from the two blades by his side.

'If Bastian and this human were to fight, I'm pretty sure Bastian would lose by a long shot.' Sebastian thought.

"I know you… I've read your file over and over. You're the manaless boy!" Slade said, enthusiastically.

Confused by his enthusiasm, Sebastian continued to stare at Slade as he did some celebratory dance.

"How have you made it this far? Did you use soul-bound weapons? Did you do a rigorous training regime and practiced in the art of the blade till you were a force to be reckoned with?" Slade asked question after question.

It was clear that Slade was very interested in Sebastian's progress. Being born without mana was unheard of and interesting. If Sebastian managed to survive throughout the world and attend the academy then he must have some type of hidden ability.

Why aren't you talking? Oh, calm down my weapons." Slade said, caressing his blades by his side.

The next moment, the two powerful presences disappeared, and he was finally able to move again, Stretching his limbs, he thought about Slade's questions. He didn't know if he had a hidden ability or not. He just knew his body had always been special.

"Not much of a talker, are you?" Slade asked.

"I am. I was just thinking of a way to answer your questions."

Soon, the entire room started to disappear and was replaced with a large room that stretched a quarter mile.

"Some classrooms in the academy have the ability to change themselves. Think of it as a small pocket realm."

After the room finished changing, he saw a huge wall full of racked weapons. Among the weapons, there was a few weapons locked behind cases and seemed to be holding back a strong presence.

"What are those?" Sebastian asked.

"Those are my weapons. I've held onto them since they always remind me of my younger days."

Putting his hand against the case, he could tell that each weapon held significant power inside.

'What the hell kind of monster were you?' Sebastian began to question Slade's identity.

The door behind him opened and multiple people were coming inside. He noticed they were older and more powerful than him so he stepped aside.

"Welcome my 2nd year students! Today we'll be learning about soul-bound weapons!"

'Didn't we just start today?' Sebastian thought. They just started at the academy and class was already starting. He thought maybe it started for the high grade students the moment the academy started.

The two students that stopped the fight before arrived in the classroom and attracted the attention of the werewolf. He found it strange that a young person would enter a room that was meant for higher grade students.

"What is a kid doing here?" The werewolf asked.

"He's here to learn a few things before he starts tomorrow."

Taken aback by their instructor's response, they started to whisper between each other and made theories as to why he was here.

The only reason why everyone was surprised was because in order to arrive inside the classroom, you needed to use your senses to find Slade's room. Unlike other classrooms, Slade's classroom always moved behind different doors and sometimes people would stumble upon it and assume they entered the wrong class.

"Soul-Bound Weapons require a person to bind a beast's spirit into their blade. There are two types of ways for doing that. One is forceful and only 25% of the beast's power will be infused into the weapon while the peaceful way allows for 50% to 75% of the beast's power infused into the weapon.

You may be wondering, what's the difference between a beast weapon and a beast weapon with a soul-bound. Unlike a normal beast weapon, your weapon gains a stronger affinity toward the corresponding weapon and you can obtain Weapon Release."

The topic of Soul-Bound Weapons really interested Sebastian. He didn't have access to magic and was only able to use strength and enchantments on his weapon to kill his opponents. Now hearing about Soul-Bound Weapons and Weapon release, it made Sebastian think that it would require mana to use it.

It would be like the weapon had a will of its own and controlled the natural elements it aligned to.

"Now, you may be thinking about killing a high rank beast and infusing it into the weapon as 25% of a beast's power would seem powerful but that is where everyone goes wrong. The stronger the beast, the stronger their will is.

If your will is weaker than the beast's will in the weapon, then the beast will attempt to or even obtain control of your mind and body."

After hearing his explanation, Sebastian thought back to the moment when he saw two humanoid beasts appear in front of him. What confused him though was the fact that the beasts/weapons looked like they tried to defend him.

He then thought back to the Dark Guild's Forgery. The six chained up weapons behind the weapon cases must've been Soul-Bound Weapons and each probably contained an extremely powerful beasts' will.

When looking toward Slade, he pulled out one of his weapons by his waist and told the origin of the blade. He said it came from a powerful snow Yeti and its soul has been infused into the blade. He also included that if someone beside him were to touch, their brain would shut down and they would remain that way for a week or more.

"Now, I would demonstrate what Weapon Release would look like but this weapon would chill the entire academy and everything in a ten mile radius." Slade added.

He then walked toward one of the weapons locked behind a weapon case and took it out. Everyone soon felt a strong pressure being applied onto them and felt the immense power from the blade.

"This weapon was made with a beast that had a strong affinity toward wind/air. It's Will was infused into the blade, peaceful." Slade revealed the backstory of the wind blade. He spoke about what he was gonna do. "I'll be doing a Weapon Release since this weapon is weaker and its weapon release isn't strong."

Everyone was excited to see Slade's weapon release but Sebastian had other thoughts. He knew Slade was powerful but he didn't know what weaker meant to him and his thoughts were correct as Slade did it.

"Weapon Release!"

After his words left his mouth, a strong burst wind pushed every 2nd year back with exception of the vampire and werewolf. A bird made of wind rose above Slade as the surrounding oxygen soon disappeared.

There was one person who was barely managing to stay standing and that was Sebastian. Small cuts were seen all over his body and he could be seen constantly shaking. It was impressive that a younger person could withstand the strong winds but it was only a matter of time before he would collapse.

'This beast's Will is stronger than I had initially thought.' He wanted to try and use the Emperor's Will but then he remembered the skill could get him killed.

He could keep standing as his energy reserves were massive but this feat alone proved he was strong. He thought every 2nd year would be able to withstand the wind pressure but it surprised him when they all were pushed back.

Bang!

Relaxing his legs, he flew back and slammed into the wall. This didn't go unnoticed by the vampire and werewolf as they both knew he could have been standing there for hours.

'He's stronger than I had originally thought.' The werewolf thought.

Slade also had noticed he could continue standing but knew he probably didn't want to attract much attention to him.

"Antares, do you want to stay in my class and watch for the rest of the day?" Slade asked.

"Yes."

This was an opportunity of a lifetime. To be able to learn more about weapons and different types of style was something Sebastian couldn't pass up.

After an hour of listening to the 2nd years' class, he learned about the process to soul-bound a beast to a weapon but it seemed to be a more difficult process than he had initially thought.

The next class that came in was the 3rd year students. He figured since it was a higher grade class it would be better weapon information but nothing better was spoken.

Another hour passed and it was the 4th year's turn. Everything seemed to be boring until Slade spoke. "Today, we'll be learning how to do full release on your body. Doing full release on your body is a hard process and some could do it. It requires one to have a large energy reserve. "

Upon hearing about Full Body Release, Sebastian immediately took interest. He not only had a massive energy reserve but he also had immense strength. If Full Body Release was able to amplify his power and make him more powerful then he would do it, even if it came at a large cost.

"Now, you'll be required to have full control over your element before you can attempt this but I'm sure all of you have obtained full control over the summer."

Hearing this, it immediately shut down Sebastian's hope of gaining even more strength.

Slade was getting in position as the air around him started to turn intense. His presence was suddenly revealed and was enlarging at a constant rate. Everyone was able to handle it until they heard a thud behind them.

Turning around, they all saw Sebastian passed out on the ground. While they were staring at him. he was in a world of his own. From his perspective, he felt Slade's presence enlarged and his vision suddenly turned black.

Not caring about him anymore, everyone turned back toward Slade and noticed a strange outline or coat around him. Using their knowledge from the past, they infused their magic into their eyes and saw a massive head of a dragon above him with a crown.

Everyone froze in fear upon seeing the dragon head. It wasn't that they feared Slade but their bodies couldn't help but feel fear from the dense mana surrounding their bodies.

"You see, Full Body Release uses both energy reserves and mana. Unless you have high both large mana and energy reserves, you'll be able to utilize it to its full potential. It's not recommended to those that have low reserves as you'll suffer from mana exhaustion.

After the usage of Full Body Release, your body will experience a shocking pain throughout your body as you open up all of your mana passages forcefully."

Canceling the technique, Sebastian woke back up and stood up. He didn't expect to be knocked out from the technique but knowing the feeling, he truly did have a long road ahead of him.

Exiting the room, he left to go find his dormitory. He wanted to know who exactly his roommates were and what kind of personality they had.

"Peasant! You'll have the responsibility of fixing my bed every night! You'll give me your food when I ask and listen to every command I give you." An arrogant voice was heard beyond a door

Slightly opening the door, Sebastian heard his other roommate's voice and didn't seem like he was nice either.

"I command you to shut up!"

Bang!

Moving to the side of the door, Sebastian saw a boy go flying through the door. Staring toward the boy and looking inside his room, he saw a boy with silver-blue hair and piercing gray eyes. By his side, a powerful weapon was in its sheath.

"What are you looking at!?" The boy asked Sebastian, aggressively

A small vein appeared on Sebastian's head. He never meant someone as disrespectful as the boy in front of him. Before he could approach the boy, a crystal spear flew past his head and nearly pierced the aggressive boy.
