Chereads / The Strongest Primordial Werewolf / Chapter 32 - The Priest

Chapter 32 - The Priest

"I can't believe Ragnar sent me on another mission by myself." Sebastian spoke to himself.

Standing on top of a massive cathedral, Sebastian was within human territory. His current mission required him to kill five high value targets.

"Now that I think about it, I can get that dagger he spoke of." Sebastian remembered the request the voice spoke of two to three years ago.

While he was thinking about the request, he noticed his target had left the cathedral. His target was a Priest of the Holy Church. Although the priest wasn't in a high position, it didn't mean he was weak.

The only information he got about the priest was that the priest would hinder the Dark Guild in the future. But what he found strange was how exactly Ragnar knew someone would be a problem in the future.

Looking at the Priest, he noticed that the priest was being protected by a few guards around him and some assassins in the shadows. It was clear to him that the priest was indeed someone special. The only problem with the assassination mission was the unknown variables. There could hidden guards are that even he couldn't sense.

He wasn't in any ordinary place either. To become a guard in human territory, they would have to D-Rank or higher on all physical and magical capabilities. Meaning, they need to have D-Ranked durability, strength, swordsmanship, magic, and speed.

As he followed the man, he was constantly expanding his energy to find the rest of the hidden guards but he couldn't. This meant that the priest was indeed someone special and most likely had a hidden identity.

Step!

Turning quickly, Sebastian realized something wrong with the situation. If he couldn't sense the hidden guards and couldn't be heard then it could only mean one thing. Himself, the predator, had just become the prey.

As he inspected his surroundings, he felt the slightest movement four times meaning that there was four assassins around him. He already made the assumption that they already knew he was watching or they just realized they were being followed since the cathedral.

One thing was clear to Sebastian though, they hadn't realized they were already found out by him. Although they were invisible, Sebastian could hear each step taken by them and decided to wait until they were closer to strike with an element of surprise.

Step!

With a loud step, the assassins appeared a meter away from him and pulled their blades out to kill him swiftly without much noise.

Swoosh!

'Fools!'

In an instant, he had pulled out his greatsword out and swung it around in a three-sixty spin. Since the assassins were already in motion, they couldn't stop as an object that is in motion stays in motion.

Slash!

Within a second, their abdomen was cut up and their guts pilled out on the rooftop. Taken by surprise, none of them would've assumed their stealth would be easily countered.

Realizing that they had yet to go down, he appeared beside one and grabbed their head before throwing them into the other two assassins. The last one, realizing their life was about to end, decided to run and alert the others before they died.

Stab!

The guard that decided to run didn't get far as they felt a stinging pain go through their shoulder. As they looked at their shoulder, it noticed it started to change shape from a red spike to a red hook.

Soon, Sebastian pulled onto his red aura like it was lasso. The guard, realizing their fate, tried to pull a dagger out and slit their throat but was stopped by the forceful pull as the dagger had fallen out of their hand.

'I've always wondered how a human tasted.'

Opening his mouth wide, Sebastian bit down on the guard's head and removed it from their body. Trying to decide what it tasted like, he went to each dead body and bit their heads off their bodies to confirm the taste.

'It tastes slimy and soft… What did Jack called them? An oyster?' Sebastian thought.

Remembering his current objective, he stomped on the roof and berated himself for getting indulged in the taste of a human head instead of moving on after he killed them.

Expanding his energy to the maximum, he tried to feel the priest's and their guards' presence but couldn't them. While searching for the priest, he noticed someone was approaching him at a fast pace.

'I guess it's time to leave…'

_________

"Are we still being followed?" A man in a white robe asked.

"No. My men probably killed that assassin already." A six foot tall man replied.

Creek!

Opening a giant door, they walked down a set of stairs until they arrived at another door. This wasn't any ordinary door as it had symbols on it.

"He opens our eyes, he kills our foes, may the being with horns slaughter those who oppose." The man said.

The door opened and walking inside, multiple people in dark red and black robes were bowing while someone was giving a speech. Upon getting closer, a giant star-like symbol was on the ground and around the symbols were goats hung on spike.

"Did you retrieve the items we requested?" The speech giver asked.

"Unfortunately no. I haven't been able to find any information on the dagger's location or the person that wields our god." The man replied.

"We mustn't waste time. Our god needs us to free him so he may deliver divine punishment on those that oppose us and him. "

While they were chatting, one of the people that were bowing was grabbed and placed in the center of the symbol. It was obvious that the man was a sacrifice as he was excited to be selected.

Slash!

Slitting the man's throat, his blood was leaking into the crack in the symbol. The symbols began to glow as it symbolized that their god was appreciating their offerings.

"I-I am n-near..." A voice spoke from the glowing symbol.

Next Day…

Bang!

Inside of the cathedral, Sebastian was fighting against multiple Holy Church guards and wasn't winning the fight against them either. Their strength far surpassed his and they were augmenting their bodies with their magic.

Normally, he wouldn't have decided to fight in the open especially against Holy Church Guards but while he was sneaking around the cathedral, he fell into a trap and was ambushed by them.

'I must escape. I can't handle these guards.' Sebastian thought as he was slowly running out of stamina.

The only reason why he was surviving against them because his speed far surpassed theirs. But the most surprising part was the fact that they were getting tired faster than him.

Suddenly a golden hue surrounded each individuals guard and boosted their strength. With the strength boost, he noticed the guards were finally able to match his speed as smalls cuts started to appear all over his body.

'Can't keep this up!' Sebastian thought, panicking.

Before engaging on combat, he tried to escape but noticed the exit of the cathedral was being blocked by a golden ray, which built a golden gate and reinforced the window. It wasn't any ordinary magic either as he did try to use the dagger but even it couldn't get rid of all the mana. It was as if the gate was constantly being supplied with an abundance of mana.

Stab!

Finally, one of the guards managed to get a proper hit on him. After stabbing him, the guard tried to pull their sword out of Sebastian's abdomen but it was stuck as he hardened his muscles around the area.

While the guard was focused on removing their sword, Sebastian threw a quick yet powerful jab at their helmet. The guard flew through the air and was thought to be out for the count but he stood back up and rushed forward.

Sebastian's left eye flashed bright red as a wave of red energy shot out and struck the guard, sending him back into the destroyed wall. Another guard was quick to approach as they swung their blade down onto him but luckily he dodged in time and infused his fist with his red aura.

Bang!

Releasing his white aura soon after the strike, he noticed the guards were slightly slowed but not by a large margin as he still barely able to dodge their attacks. Using his black aura, a black tail formed on his behind and struck at an incoming guard from behind.

He couldn't don his black armor as it would reveal his identity and probably cause more problems in the future. Currently, he was donning his black outfit with the built-in mask and vest.

Sizzle!

His body lit up in golden flames as he finally started to utilize his Flames of Rage. Seeing this, the guards realized they were facing an Apostle of War. Mostly everyone in the world knew about the Apostles but there were certain Apostles that needed to be avoided.

"Capture!"

A strong gravitational pull took the guards by surprise. They couldn't tell what their attacker's magic was since he was using multiple skills they hadn't seen before.

Disabling his ability, he rushed a guard and slammed their head into the wall. Once the guard was into the wall, he opened his mouth wide and bit down on their head.

Crunch!

"O-oh my god! He just ate Jerry!!!" One of guards shouted.

Standing up, Sebastian turned his head around and sent a shiver down the guards' bodies as his eyes glowed. His rage could be felt radiating from his body.

"We need to last a bit longer. Reinforcements will be arriving soon!"

Hearing their words, Sebastian needed to escape, otherwise, he would surely die. Rushing to a wall, he had a plan.

"Cataclysm!"

Slamming his fist into the wall, the wall began to shake violently and crack from the power being infused within.

"Don't let him escape!"

The guards rushed toward him, ignoring their instincts to run.

Slash!

In an instant, Sebastian appeared beside a guard, surprising them, and cut their head off with a new weapon. This weapon was stolen from the dead guard Sebastian had killed.

"To use a dead man's weapon is dishonorable!" The guard shouted angrily.

The guards could use magic to end the fight easier but it would damage the interior of the cathedral, disrespecting the holy ground.

'If only these guards didn't have armor, this would've been easier.'

Stab!

Unbeknownst to Sebastian the entire time, the priest was invisible and looking for an opportunity to stab him. Luckily for him, Sebastian stood still for a while, while he was trying to assess the situation.

"Do you really think this is gonna stop me?!" Sebastian shouted with anger.

"Yes, yes it will. This dagger is coated with a Thunder Wolf Wyvern's paralysis venom. Even the strongest will falter to this venom." The priest replied.

Slowly, Sebastian's body was becoming paralyzed and sleepy. His anger and rage was the only thing that was keeping him standing but even that couldn't do much against a powerful beast's venom.

'Should I use my Emperor's Will?' Sebastian questioned himself.

Images started flashing through his head as remember what Bastian and Ragnar told. They told him that he couldn't use the Emperor's Will or he'll be killed or experimented on.

'I suppose I'll just take a break. Hopefully, he'll take me to their underground hideout or something.'

With one step, Sebastian closed the distance between him and the priest. The priest, surprised and terrified, fell back and stared at the boy as he collapsed onto the ground.

As the priest stood up, the guards came over to collect him but that's when the priest spoke up.

"Leave him to me." The Priest said.

"Sorry? He just killed one of us and nearly you." The guard replied.

"As the priest of this cathedral, I command you to leave him with me" This time, the Priest decided to use authority as the Priest.

Unable to refute, the guards mumbled something and left to get his dead comrade. Obviously, the guards were angry and suspicious about the Priest but they couldn't do anything about it. If they did, then they would be executed for going against a Holy Priest's orders.

'Damn brat! How dare he try to kill me!' The Priest kicked Sebastian.

Dragging the Sebastian, he opened a secret passage in the cathedral and four mysterious figures came out and helped him.

"Make sure to treat him with care. Be careful, the venom might wear off and he'll kill you." The Priest said.

The four figures shook in fear as they had no choice but to be careful. Although they were a part of the cult, they were the weaker members and they could feel how powerful the boy was.

'I better come up with a good explanation on what I did with the boy.'
