Chapter 26 - The Umbral Blade(1)

Opening his eyes, Sebastian noticed Chelsea was waking and removed the Umbral Blade from her body. Soon, she sat up and started to inspect her surroundings. Upon seeing the Black Knight, she immediately pulled out a hidden dagger and threw it at him

As soon as the dagger was in range, Sebastian grabbed it with his two fingers. Standing up, he formed a black veil and trapped her inside the veil. After seeing him approach her, she slowly started to walk back until she was backed up against the veil wall.

"Is this how you treat a person who saved your life?" Sebastian spoke.

"Saved my life?! You attacked me!" Chelsea replied.

"First off, you attacked me first by putting a dagger to my throat as I was trying to escape and I acted in self-defense."

"You… Why did you save me? You said you would kill me."

"Chelsea… I'll show my identity but you must promise me that you won't tell anyone. If you don't tell anyone, then I'll try to negotiate with the Dark Guild to ensure the safety of your empire but they will likely still interfere with the empire's politics and still gather intel."

"Why do you speak like we're close?"

Removing his mask, he revealed his identity to Chelsea. Once she laid eyes on him, she froze in place and couldn't believe her eyes. She had been told of his death and she didn't want to believe it but now, she was glad that she didn't..

"S-Sebastian! You're alive!" She shouted at the top of her lungs.

"Heh, I wouldn't die so easily. I'm the greatest after all." He grinned and brimmed with arrogance.

"But why would you join the Dark Guild? They're an evil organization that wants to cause destruction and chaos of the world"

"I joined because I wanted more power. I need power because I need to protect my friends." He lied. He was unsure about his exact predicament. He just accepted Bastian's off without much thought and didn't realize it would land him at the Dark Guild.

The two of them continued to chat for hours to catch up on things. They spent time walking around the city and this was possible because Chelsea was controlling light around their bodies to make them appear invisible.

As they walked, they decided to stop off at a restaurant and eat there. Obviously they couldn't go inside without a lot of attention due the Chelsea being a princess so she asked one of her few assistants.

At first the assistant was surprised as she had thought the princess was captured since she sudden disappeared but you worries were gone now. She did as asked and retrieved the food but not without asking what for. She knew the princess well and found this strange.

"Princess... Do you perhaps have a date?" The assistant asked in disbelief.

"No! I'm just feeling very hungry." Chelsea replied, her face red.

"Alright~" The assistant grinned before handing over the food..

She knew this phase all too well and was quite happy about it. The princess seemed to be somewhat happy with someone and she liked that for her. After they finish their food, they headed back to the hotel and talked a bit more.

Apparently, Sebastian found out about the mole in the organization, which exposed their hideout throughout the whole city. He wasn't told a name but he knew their rank within the Dark Guild had to be high. There were select individuals within the Dark Guild that had knew about every hideout in the Elven Empire.

"Thank you for the information. I'll report this information to my higher-ups and see if they can find the mole. Stay safe!" Sebastian said.

"Wait!"

Chelsea's words didn't reach Sebastian in time before he disappeared into thin air. This made her wonder how strong Sebastian had really gotten since the last time they saw each other.

_______

'Wonder if this counts as mission complete… It should be, after all they just wanted to know why they disappeared, but I wonder who the mole is now.'

Pressing the green amulet on around his neck, a portal opened up in front of him. Walking through, he was greeted with an incoming weapon to the face. Reacting, he swiftly dodged the attack and pulled out the Umbral Blade and pressed it against his attacker's neck.

"Well, it looks like your senses and reflexes have increased." Bastian said, praised.

"I've learned that we have a mole in the organization." Sebastian said.

"A mole? That explains why we couldn't get in contact with any of the bases at that elven city but it also happened to all the other elven cities. This mole must be in a high position in the Dark Guild to be able to reveal nearly all of the hideout but that's why we have a few that are not known to any other higher up except me and Ragnar."

"They're obviously ranked Dark Duke or higher to know nearly all of the bases so I'll have you guys deal with that."

"Where do you think you're going? You've got another mission." Bastian smiled.

"I've just returned!"

"Relax, you're gonna like this mission. You're gonna clear out multiple vampire encampments near the border of the werewolf territory. Go loud or go quiet, depends on you." Bastian grinned.

Hearing this, Sebastian couldn't control his happiness and rage, and jumped right into the portal that opened beside them. After jumping into the portal, his body began to glow brighter and brighter each passing second until the vampire encampment below Sebastian took notice.

'I call this move the Aura Airstrikes!'

Multiple strands of concentrated red aura strikes expanded out from Sebastian's back and flew down toward the vampire encampment. Upon impact, each strike caused a large explosion and decimated half of the vampire encampment.

Bang!

Bang!

Bang!

'Whelp, there goes all of my red aura.' Sebastian thought, landing roughly on the ground.

"There's the attacker! Kill him!" A loud voice shouted.

'Their innate ability, Blood Control' Sebastian noted as many red-like strikes coming at him.

As the attacks were nearing him, they collided with a blue wall. Slowly, he was beginning to approach the the remaining army of vampires. After he was within range, he revealed his bloodlust nearly every vampire fell to the ground.

"Who are you?!" One of the vampires shouted.

"Capture!"

Instead of responding, Sebastian used his Capture skill and pulled every nearby vampire. Due to the strong gravitational pull, the vampire couldn't react in time and met a swift death by Sebastian's Umbral Blade.

For the next few minutes, he went on a killing spree and ended every vampire life in the encampment.

"This doesn't feel as entertaining as I had thought... Is it because they're not powerful enough? No... It's like this isn't enough to make me feel fulfilled." Sebastian thought, becoming aware of himself.

While he was lost in thought, he left the encampment and went to the nearby forest to clear his thoughts.

_____

A Few Hours Later…

"Alright! Time to continue on with the mission." Sebastian said.

After he went into the forest, he decided to kill as many beasts as possible and gain as much strength. The only problem with this process was how inefficient it was since every beasts inside the forest was weaker than him.

He equipped his armor and jumped to the sky for a bird's eye view. As he overlooked the remaining vampire encampments, he felt a strong urge to kill slightly overcoming his sense.

'You poor unfortunate souls… The grim reaper has arrived to deliver you to hell.'

Holding his hand to the sky, a massive surge of unstable energy began to form in his hand and assumed the form of a spear. Red arcs of electricity started to come off the spear and soon started to burn Sebastian's arm.

'Is this my limit? No... I must go further beyond!'

As if sensing an incoming danger, the targeted vampire encampment looked to the sky and noticed a bright red light in the sky. Dread entered each vampire's heart as they assumed the worst was gonna happen. Sebastian then unleashed the attack and hurled it toward the encampment.

BANG!!!

Half of a vampire encampment was wiped off from the map and it didn't seem like the vampires were too happy about the sudden surprise attack. Unable to move forward since he was in the sky, Sebastian fell to the ground and landed in the middle of the forest.

'I've indeed gotten stronger but I feel like I haven't gotten strong enough… Maybe it's about time I focus on honing my skills and creating new ones'

Picturing multiple different types of weapons, Sebastian was attempting to form weapons out of his auras while protecting himself with his blue aura. Though the vampires were closing in on his location, he didn't feel threatened by presence as none of them were powerful enough to injure him.

'It's like they sent cannon fodder here...' Sebastian noticed.

Soon an entire army of vampires were standing a few twenty meters away from his position. Most would expect the vampires to attack since they had strength in numbers but something in their minds were telling them to leave. This would be proven right as something high up in the sky was shining brightly like the sun.

"Attack!!!"

'Fools!'

With one step, Sebastian appeared in front of the vampires and a golden halberd was in his hands. With one swing, a line of energy ran across the ground and blew up to the skies, wiping an eighth of their numbers. The display of power made every vampire regret they hadn't come to fight him but it was already too late for regret.

"Poor souls, even god didn't give potential to be strong…" Sebastian said, shaking his head.

A strong fluctuation of power was starting to come closer and every vampire felt the immense power the bright object held.

"I call this attack, God's Punishment. Just as it sounds, this will be a powerful attack but I too must evacuate otherwise I will die."

"Stop him! He will die with us from his own attack!" A vampire commanded.

Immediately, a barrage of spells were released from the vampires and lit up the sky, even shining brighter than Sebastian's skill.

'Fools…'

Before their eyes, Sebastian disappeared and hopelessness overcame their mind. They then looked to the sky and could only stare at the attack that was gonna end their life.

BANG!!!

The hundreds of vampires were decimated and none of their bodies could be seen. Little did Sebastian know, this act would be the starting act of a full on vampire siege against werewolf race.

Appearing in the center of the extremely massive crater, Sebastian was inspecting the damages and the strange energy fluctuation in the crater.

Blagh!

Falling to the ground, he began to cough up a large amount of blood. Soon, a burning pain began to spread throughout his body. This was the cost for using such a powerful skill without using restraint and using all of his auras.

'Sh*t! I used too much aura in that attack…'

Roar!!!

Sensing the presence of multiple powerful incoming beasts, Sebastian used half of his energy inside his body in an attempt to return to peak condition but it only made things worse.

'F*ck…'

Standing up, he equipped the mana nullifying dagger and Umbral Blade. Once the Umbral Blade made its appearance, the energy within blade went awry as its began to spread to throughout Sebastian's body. Slowly, he started his transformation into his werewolf form and the strange black energy began to cover his pure white fur.

His different colored eyes became jet black and his body started to become bigger than normal. Soon, every beast that watched his transformation felt a strange urge of fear enter their mind. They felt like running but they did. Why? Because there was only one enemy in front of them and they didn't much about it.

"Kill him!" A humanoid beast spoke.

Every beast that stood idle, charged forward and crossed the distance between them quickly as one of them struck Sebastian across the chest. Unfazed, he stood there and glared at the beast that had attacked him.

Stab!

A spike of black energy broke through the ground and ended the life of the beast. Seeing their brethren die, every beast went into a frenzy and rushed forward without a care in the world.

As Sebastian watched this from his mind space, he noticed something strange. Normally, beasts wouldn't team up with each other and would just kill each other on sight but these beasts didn't.

'It must have to do with that beast in the back.' Sebastian noted.
