The Heathrow family was moved by his words, not fully understanding what Alan was trying to do or where this was going, George took several calming breaths before smiling. "Of course, my boy. We will never reject your wish to support the family and make you feel like an outsider."
Alan looked at Mary, Andrew, and Elena, who nodded in agreement.
The two girls were quietly sitting and watching the dram.
Alan smiled happily and said, "Then I want to support my family when it needs me the most."
"Guys, bring that table over here," he asked the four boys to move the large study table in front of him. They carried the heavy table effortlessly.
"Wil, join me," Alan requested. "Grandma..." Alan bowed at Helen, who smiled widely, tears in her eyes. She applauded Alan's performance in her mind, knowing the Heathrows would never accept support from others.
"Are you ready, Wil?" Alan asked, smiling. Williams nodded, mirroring his expression, and whispered in Alan's ear, "By the way, nicely done."
Alan began removing boxes and sacks from his storage ring, passing them to Williams, who, in turn, handed them to the boys. They neatly placed the handed-over items on the table.
The Morgans realized what he was doing and smiled, moved by Alan and Helen's generosity.
The Heathrows all stood up, shocked to their core, never expecting Alan to take out boxes and sacks of gold as if he were distributing sweets.
"What... what... what are you doing, lad?" George said with difficulty.
Alan smiled, after taking out last five different kinds of boxes, he let his hand down. "Well, one more surprise went to a toss," Williams said, placing those five different kinds of boxes on the table.
"Come on, guys, let's sit and relax our muscles a bit. Alan here is the new drama king. Let him handle all the drama," William grinned at Alan and went back with the boys to sit.
"There are 300,000 gold coins here," Alan said, smiling.
"What? Now it's the turn of Helen and the Morgans to be shocked to their core.
"Alan, there... there...?" Helen started, but unable to speak.
Williams was snickering, sitting there. "Williams, it's not funny. How did you end up with more than 100,000 extra gold coins?" Elizabeth asked seriously, knowing how much Helen had saved as she was the one taking care of her ledger.
"Let our drama king give you a brief detail, grandma," Williams smirked again.
Everyone's eyes were on Alan now.
"180,000 gold is the accumulated amount that Grandma Helen gave me with this ring, thinking I would be using it when I travel the kingdom and beyond." Alan showed his ring to the room.
"120,000 gold is our earnings." Alan pointed his finger towards Williams and then to himself.
"Let me explain," he spoke before anyone could start another round of questioning.
"As you all know, Wil and I a
Were at the Merchant's Guild for more than a year. During those days, while traveling with the merchant's caravan, we encountered many wild beasts, which we killed all by ourselves without letting anyone get hurt."
"As per Grandma Elizabeth's instructions, we were part of many negotiations and even dispute settlements between merchants. These are all the earnings we received from those satisfied merchants."
"Remember, Great Uncle George, you were ready to offer us a percentage of the profit we made for you? It's the same way." Alan smiled.
All the elders sat back down without saying a word.
"The gold we received from killing wild beasts or defending the merchant's caravan from bandits and thieves were used to support the families of the adventurers who lost their lives defending others."
"This is how we received the honorary medal from the Merchant's Guild," Alan concluded.
Everyone, including Lilly, wiped away their tears upon learning about the generosity and kindness shown by these two kids.
"We had planned to give this report to you all, but like the first surprise, this also went out the window," Williams shrugged.
"I hope our family will not reject our support," Alan said as he walked towards Helen and the Morgans, who were sitting together. He stood behind them with a warm smile.
Dave stood up, went to the table, kept something on it, and sat back down. Everyone looked at his actions curiously. "Lad, why did you keep the key here?" George asked, puzzled by David's action.
"Ah, there was a shortage of 50,000 gold to cover the complete loss. The key is for a locker at the Merchant's Guild. There are 50,000 gold in there, which can cover the difference," Dave explained.
The boys looked at him surprised. Feeling embarrassed, he acted offended, saying, "What? It's for Alan who treated my bo..." he coughed once, "who treated my burns. Ok, no need to get emotional and all," Dave said in a casual tone.
The boys roared with laughter. All the elders looked at this scene, feeling proud of each of them.
"But Dave..." George looked embarrassed. "It's Alan's support, Master George. He had forgotten to collect his gold for healing my... ah... my face."
"If Alan doesn't want it, I will take it back." Dave glared at Alan, daring him to say otherwise.
Knowing David's take on gold when it comes to relationships, Alan smiled warmly at him.
"Yes, Great Uncle George, it was my money. After all, his bo... I mean healing, it was worth 50,000 gold," Alan started snickering at the end of his sentence, and again the boys started laughing. This time, Dave also joined in.
George at last had to accept it. "I don't know how to... what to..." his voice choked.
"There is nothing to say or do. After all, if we don't support our own family in need, then who will?" Helen said firmly.
