Chapter 32 - A story...

Alan then went towards the cooking area.

"Helen is it ok to let him go outside alone? I know he is a strong, but he is a child of just 10 years. There are wild beasts in these areas you know. Even a B Class Adventurer will be hesitant to travel alone in these woods". John told Helen.

Helen smiled, " I was also very protective of him initially. As time passed by and he grew up, I relaised that he is different from a normal child.we can not judge him simply by his age."

" Let me tell you an incident..... Alan had just completed his 8th birth year when I took him to the other side of the river into the forest to get some herbs and collect roots and vegetables for that day's dinner. Out of nowhere a mountain bear appeared infront of us.

As you know, I started learning weapons and fighting skills from Alec after that incident. I was confident enough to take it down or inflect enough injury to get away from it. But Alan was with me and I was afraid for him.

It roared at us, I asked Alan to run towards the river and knocked an arrow and let it go toward the bear. In my panic state, afraid that Alan will get hurt or worse he might even loose his life, I missed my mark.

Instead of its heart which I was aiming for, the arrow grazed its left shoulder. That made the bear mad and it started dashing towards us. I knew it was over for us at that time. I wanted to save Alan and shielded myself infront of him ready to die. I Screamd at Alan to run away, escape from this situation. I spread my arms widely, ready and braced myself to embrace my incoming death.

BOOM !!!...

I heard a loud sound and thought... "This is it. I am going to die now..... "Sorry my dear, I am leaving you in this no man's land all alone again. Please forgive me. I love you so much my dear boy." I thought to myself.

I was standing there for several seconds but the impact, the pain and the death I was expecting never came...

I opend my eyes, my sight was blurry due to the tears in it. I saw a boy standing in front of me.

I was at a loss for few seconds then I shouted "Alan what are you doing. Run away... now!!!."

He turned his head toward me with a kind smile and said. " Don't worry grandma. It will not harm you anymore."

I was confused. Wiped my tears and then saw the body of the bear laying a few feet away from me. It's dead... I exclaimed !!!!

How is this possible ? How did this happened? I did not know what was happening .

Alan turned towards me, held my hand and said. I killed it grandma. I won't let any wild beast hurt you.

I looked at him carefully. He doesn't seemed injured but there were bloodstains on his right hand and on his body.

What!! .... ? How !!!... ???!!! I didn't knew what to ask....

He scratched the back of his head sheepishly and said " Well I can kill wild beasts using the hand to hand combat you taught me grandma. I had already killed few beast while I was hunting big games". Alan said

I saw the bear again and found that, it's head was deformed. I checked Alan's hand and throughly checked his body for any injuries. And found non.

I felt dizzy and sat on the ground to let this news and his words to settle in my head..."

"So what do you think now?" Helen asked proudly and smirked seeing the expression on John's face.

John was in such a shock that his jaw was almost touching his chest.

After some time he came back to his senses and turned towards Alan. Helen also turned towards the direction where John's was looking.

They found Alan chatting with the cook and laughing at his animated actions. He looks very happy and it seemed he was enjoying his time.

Well.... "I hope he can get a place in the Academy. It will give him ample opportunity to grow further. He might become an S-Class or even a Z-Class adventurer!!! ..... What an achievement that would be. A true sight to behold " John mused.

Everyone had their dinner. 4 guards were stationed on all 4 sides to keep an eye out for any dangers. And will be replaced with other guards every 3 hours once.

John wanted to keep his guards well rested so that they can cover as much distance as possible everyday.

Night passed by without any incidents.
