Chereads / Rogue's Ascendance / Chapter 16 - Welcome Shinra

Chapter 16 - Welcome Shinra

"Where exactly are we going to?"

Shinra asked while moving through the forest.

"We should be close.. I think."

Azel gave a curt reply.

'Vena mentioned that I was close to the town.'

'Now might be a good time to use that thing she mentioned.'

In a small tent, Azel was sitting cross-legged talking to the air.

"So what are the results of the scan?"

[Well the blindfold works in an amusing way you see the blindfold absorbs mana from you, and then in turn uses the mana to create a unique form of energy it uses this energy to scan its surroundings and then sends the result back to your brain, your brain translates all this and sometimes provides color for you.]

"... That sounds like some process."

[Here is the fun fact all that "process" happens in milliseconds so there is zero lag for you, and I also found out something.]

[You see you can increase the radius of the scan, though I advise not to do that frequently cause it consumes a ton of mana and it sends quite a stream of information to your brain.]

"So real-time auto-translation plus wide area scan."

[Yes that is correct.]

Azel became quiet and began wondering just who created this blindfold and how she came in contact with it.

"I have a feeling the one who created this will find me someday."

[Why do you say so?]

Vena asked curiously.

"Intuition Vena, intuition."

.

.

Back to present

Azel took a deep breath and sent 80% of his mana to the blindfold.

'Wide area scan.'

Perceiving the request of its owner, the blindfold did as requested and sent back a 3d 800-metre mental image to Azel.

Azel groaned a bit due to the sudden influx of information.

'There it is.'

"Shinra turn left."

"My left or your left."

"You dumbass we are on the same side so my left is your left."

"Got it."

Shinra replied then proceeded to balance the horn on his back and he went....

Right.

Azel came to an abrupt stop.

"The other way!! The other way is left."

He said while gesturing.

"I knew that."

"... No you didn't"

Azel shaped his head sideways.

"I did, I was just testing you."

He said like it was a matter of fact.

"Forget it."

Azel not in the mood to argue dropped the matter.

.

.

Half an hour later the duo were standing in front of a we7 feet steel gate.

A huge influx of people were moving to and fro through the gate.

The people were mostly dressed in leather, with metal gears of all sorts strapped to their waist and thighs.

Shinra tapped Azel's shoulders lightly.

"You said it was a town."

He whispered as they moved closer to a smaller section of the gate with the word NEW ARRIVALS.

"It is."

The duo finally in front of the gate stood toe to toe with the guards.

"Business or hunting."

A tall broad-shoulder guard said in a deep voice.

"Forest stay."

Azel replied while giving me two distinct copper coins.

Understanding his words the guard moved aside and said to the duo.

"May your stay be Adventurous, Aoudi."

Azel nodded and made his way inside with Shinra by his side.

'That word.. The beyond. No, no, no'

Shinra kept thinking in denial.

Taking a quick gulp Shinra asked.

"Azy perchance are we in, where I think we are?"

Cracking a small smile, Azel walked forward leaving the short tunnel, with his back facing the crowd he said to Shinra in a bow.

"Welcome Shinra to the Blight, the haven of untold dreams."

"Fuck me."

.

.

.

.

Right in front of Blight is a forest filled with Varmints but that is not the most important thing.

You see every once in a while, a huge forest with multiple dark trees at the periphery appears.

The forest just seems to spawn behind the town, inside the forest are Varmints with the weakest one being at C tier.

But even with this danger people still venture inside, why? It is said if one manages to survive going in one will come out even stronger than ever before cause the forest holds treasures, potions and weapons that can elevate one to becoming a legendary figure.

Is it dangerous?

Yes.

Is the survival rate low?

Yes.

Is it a suicide mission?

Yes.

So why risk it? This is the question most sane people ask.

And the most common reply is..

No pain.. No gain.

See ya on Saturday
