Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

The Lethal Waltz

As Jake Crawford observed Charles cautiously advancing through the dilapidated apartment, a sinister grin crept across Jake's face. He was ready to execute the next phase of his plan, turning the once-quiet building into a battleground of shadows and silent strikes.

Jake who was adept at stealth moved with practiced silence, staying one step ahead of Charles. The dim light filtering through the broken windows played tricks with the shadows, allowing Jake to blend seamlessly into the darkened corners of the building.

This was very easy for him , with the past experience he already adapted in stealth and ambush even though he didn't unlock those skills yet.

If only he could unlock those skills !

But this wasn't the time to think, he began to take actions .

Jake subtly arranged the objects and made it look like a person, creating illusions and distractions to confuse Charles. A physiological pressure that make his enemies feel fear and put mental pressure on one's mind.

Charles, weapon in hand, navigated cautiously through the narrow hallways, his senses heightened. The shifting shadows played tricks on his perception, keeping him on edge. The echoes of distant bustling winds added a tense atmosphere, making it harder for Charles to discern the real threats from the illusions.

"God dammit ! ..what's happening here ?"

Charles was very confused and feeling on the edge of his nerve , since he entered this building. There was always a person shadows across the edge of the wall or behind the doors but when he looked closer , he was shocked to see those shadows were nothing but the object's projection which were made to look like a person shadows..

Because of the dim atmosphere and low light , everything here was filled with Shadows .

Jake Crawford didn't choose this building for no reason, this place has no lights and the whole place was filled with overturned objects. Everything was messy here and Jake knew that this place is well suited to caught off guard his enemies.

Jake, maintaining a safe distance, mimicked faint footsteps in different sections of the building. The eerie echoes reverberated through the empty hallways, causing Charles to pivot nervously, his rifle aimed at imagined adversaries.

"Who's there?"

Charles muttered, his voice strained with anxiety. The realization that he might be walking into an ambush began to dawn on him, but his duty to capture the enemy messenger compelled him forward.

Whispers, soft and almost inaudible, surrounded Charles as he continued his cautious exploration. Jake skillfully projected hushed voices, creating an illusion that the building was harboring unseen conspirators. The psychological pressure intensified as Charles grappled with the uncertainty of his surroundings.

"Stay focused, Charles. This could be a diversion,"

he muttered to himself, attempting to resist the subtle manipulations.

Jake, still concealed, left false traces—an overturned chair, a displaced curtain—guiding Charles deeper into the labyrinthine structure. The strategically placed traps were meant to lead the enemy soldier away from Jake's true location.

Charles, growing more suspicious, scanned each room with heightened vigilance. The tension in the air was palpable as he moved through the building, every creaking floorboard and shifting shadow amplifying his unease.

Finally, as Charles reached the end of a dark corridor, Jake made his move. Seizing the opportune moment when Charles was momentarily distracted by a shadowy figure at the end of the hall, Jake emerged behind him sneakily.

In a swift motion, Jake disarmed Charles, causing the rifle to clatter to the ground. Before Charles could even react, Jake delivered a precise blow at Charles head with a iron rod, rendering the enemy soldier unconscious.

Charles crumpled to the floor, the building echoed with the unsettling symphony of their silent encounter.

Looking at the fallen enemy , Jake Crawford finally breathed out in relief .

"It wasn't that easy than i thought!"

Throwing the iron rod aside , he swiftly proceeded to loot Charles's body, scavenging for anything that could aid him in the impending challenges of the warzone.

Jake knelt beside Charles, his fingers deftly searching the soldier's tactical vest and pockets. The urgency of the mission pressed upon him as he retrieved some valuable items .

"Sorry mate ! If I want to live then you have to die ."

Bang !

Charles was dead ! The gunshot sound was soon heard around the area which broke the calm atmosphere.

And to increase his levels , he has to do complete missions as much as he can . Then only he can get stronger , it's now a survival world so everything has a price to pay in order to get strong.

Without wasting any time , Jake Crawford began to leave this place since there was a chance that the enemy may come here and if it's more than two , then Jake has no confidence to win if fight broke out .

Rushing out of the building, he used the structure blind spots and shadowed cover to escape from this area.

He was now heading to his next Target , he was ready to hunt for blood now .
