The old man waved his hand, and the turrets sank back into the walls, ceiling, and floor, making the room safe again as he sighed tiredly.
"If you were feeling unsafe, you could have talked to me, Sarah… I would have doubled your guard… Hell, I would have doubled the entire security detail in the lab if you asked me."
"Major Erakiss, please let us stay professional. I didn't want more goons walking around the lab. It's counterproductive to my researchers' peace of mind. I brought them in because I felt something was threatening my life.
"And, the last I checked, I don't need your authorization to pick out my security details. It is well in my authority to pick my guards and limit the military presence onboard my lab."
