CHAPTER 1
After so much pleading from Anita, the landlord fell on deaf ears."Your father isn't a good tenant", said Mr Chukwu ,the landlord of the fourth building at Lane 2 of Lagos state.
Mrs Ella,an average height woman with a dark melanin complexion was in her early 30's and had four children for Mr George. She worked as a civil servant at Ivy Bloom college .She was virtuous and caring.
Mr George was a business man.He dealt mainly on motor spare parts. He was doing great in his business. He was a ruthless man.
Anita who was only sixteen was the first child and daughter of Mr and Mrs George. As the first child, she had so much responsibility on her , despite the fact that she was with her parents. She was more like a second mother in the house.
Mr George cared less about the things concerning his family;he took them so unseriously .Mr George was once an awesome lover to his Ella but after they got married, things weren't the same anymore.
While they were dating, George loved Ella so much. Despite the fact that Mr George's family gave their disapproval concerning the marriage at first, George still persisted .They were left with no other option than to give them their approval
The marriage rites were completed as custom demanded. The couple went home joyfully expecting to have a"lived happily ever after", but the reverse was the case.
Anita and her other 3 siblings (2 boys and a girl) had blissful moments during their childhood which they really missed. It was really crazy. They had a nanny who did literally all the house chores for them. They only played and had fun .They had a next door neighbor whose name was Tony .Anita and her siblings had full access to Tony's room like it was their own room. This was so because Mrs Ella loved and trusted him and treated him like a son;he was closer than a brother to them.
They loved staying at Tony's room because it was a catchy room with chandelier light. It was adorable though it was just a room apartment.
When most Sundays seemed boring to them, they would visit their cousins place which was not far from their home. They would run around the whole house, wanting to bring down the building with their escalating noise and crazy plays .
Andrew loved attending birthday parties with his little brother Grey. Mandy and Anita were really not fans of outings and partying. They loved staying indoors and this was a discipline Mrs Ella instilled in them but Andrew was hard headed. He didn't heed to any of those instructions. He would jokingly always remind Mrs Ella that he was a boy who would grow into a man someday. He said he hated to stick around the house.
"Wow",Mrs Ella thought.
George made no impact in the lives of his children. His presence was dominant and whenever his wife talked about that,he would fume at her and dismiss the conversation immediately. Seeing that he wasn't interested in the children's welfare,Mrs Ella decided not to bother him anymore. She decided to take up the task herself. Her children meant the world to her and she would never let them down either.
School examinations were about to be rounded up and Anita's excitement knew no bounds because holidays were around the corner. She couldn't just wait.Mandy was more excited. This was because there would be no assignments throughout the holidays. This was really a huge relief for her.
To Mandy, assignments were really big thorns on her flesh. She despised them no matter how little they were
