Chapter 11 - Potential

The black knight raised her right leg, stomping forcefully on the ground, once again emanating a stronger wave of mana than before. However, this time, only a few signs of discomfort were visible among the students. With everyone in silence, the knight's helmet dissolved, revealing her face with a wide smile.

"Master, everyone is capable of taking the test, and some seem very interesting," spoke the black knight, extending her right hand to the left, removing her gauntlet and exposing her bare hand.

"A conscious summoning, my father was right then," said the girl with white hair and blue streaks.

'That reminds me of the golems my brother could create,' thought the pink-haired girl, clenching her fist tightly.

"Hey, are you okay?" The possible protagonist asked.

Applause was heard, and Adwnr began speaking, "Alright, alright, if we take any longer, the director will cut my salary. So, let's continue."

"The test will work as follows: you see my dear baby down there, right? Then all you need to do is shake hands with her. This way, it will be checked what your current maximum potential is, ranging from 1 to a maximum of 10," Adrwnr's eyes scanned the hall, looking at some specific students, all of whom were in the special class.

"Those who are already in the special class, if they get a potential below 5, will be demoted. And those not in the special class, if they score a potential above 7, can enter the special class. And with that said, let's begin," Adrwnr clapped, and the smoldering red eyes of the black knight seemed to shine even brighter.

"Miss Amelin Vinnet, come to me," the black knight spoke, pointing to the far right of the room, away from all the other students. There stood a girl wearing a high-ranking noble's outfit, white with black details. Her hair was red, and her eyes were green, with a slight difference in shade—the left darker than the right.

Without uttering a single word, the girl walked past all the students, ignoring everyone, and arrived in front of the black knight. She shook her hand, and at that moment, the knight's eyes imitated Amelin's eye color, gradually taking her form, becoming a replica of her.

Except for her left leg, which remained in its original appearance.

"Does this mean I passed, right?" Amelin asked, releasing the knight's hand, which slowly returned to its original form.

"Correctly, miss, and spectacularly. Your maximum potential is 10, and I would say your current potential is 9," the knight said, creating the number ten made of shadows above her head.

"Nine??? Is that even possible for a newcomer?" One of the students shouted, and many others spoke something similar, confused and discredited because they hadn't even taken the test and already knew it would be impossible to reach where Amelin was.

"Edward, that hair of hers..." Litty said, staring fixedly at Amelin.

"No, her true color is red because of her mana. If that's not the protagonist, at least we know who the main heroine is," Edward said as he watched Amelin return to her place.

"It's a shame we'll have to ignore her... you two would make a perfect couple; both of you are arrogant and don't care about others," Litty said, rubbing Edward's head.

"Did you bring a mirror with you, by any chance?" Edward said, feeling Litty's strength increasing, but to him, it was just a small massage.

After this happened, the atmosphere in the hall seemed heavy. Fear and discomfort were evident in each student, and it only increased as the tests were carried out.

With Amelin, the black knight transformed into an almost perfect replica of her appearance and even spoke openly with her. However, what happened next was different.

With no change in her appearance, the number 6 could be seen above the black knight's head.

"Perfect, if it continues like this, I can surely reach 8 when I graduate," a student said, quickly hearing small murmurs about how innocent he was.

'The atmosphere is changing thanks to dreamy students like you; now, the hunt will begin,' Adrwnr thought, smiling. 'I hope more tigers appear this year instead of just wild cats.'

The test continued without any issues until it was Edward's turn.

"Mr. Edward Amendraran, come forward," the black knight said, pointing to him. Unlike the other students, it was clear to both the professor and her that something about him bothered them, and now was the time to find out why.

'He didn't say anything and seems not to exist, so what the hell is in this boy? He's almost like a door; I can't read anything from him,' Adrwnr thought.

Edward was now facing the black knight, saying, "I hope to get a good result."
