Chapter 18 - Lost blade

"If you don't mind, I'd like to suggest the pairs for our group," Amelin spoke with a resolute voice, taking a few steps forward and looking at Edward and the other two girls.

"If it's the young lady, she'll undoubtedly make the best choice," Sillian said, but in reality, she thought, 'Certainly, she'll choose Edward. What a misfortune; I wanted to sense the other types of his fragrance.' Sillian was infuriated with the outcome, but she didn't show it to anyone.

"You're the smartest, so there's no better choice," Mine said, and her gaze quickly passed between Sillian and Edward. 'Their bodies are great; it'll be good to train with them.'

"And you, Edward? The group is yours, so you have the final say," Amelin asked, and the iris with the lighter tone showed a slight gleam.

"My group? No, you're clearly the leader here, so there's no reason for it not to be you," Edward said, hands in his pants pockets while the wooden sword was stuck in the ground on his right side.

'That subtle gleam again. It appeared above his head and disappeared...' Amelin thought, then began to speak, "If everyone agrees, the pairs will be Sillian and Mine, while Edward will be my partner."

'I knew it. If our families weren't of high rank, I would have caused an uproar,' Sillian thought, turning to Mine and extending her hand. "It'll be a pleasure to do this with someone like you. I see my skills increasing rapidly."

Mine took Sillian's hand and spoke firmly, but a certain weakness could be seen in her voice. "I say the same, and I hope you don't go easy on me. My body is in good shape, okay?"

"Don't worry about that; I can see your health very well. You're quite beautiful, you know?" Sillian said, pulling Mine up and raising her sword with the other hand to strike directly at her head.

In the short time Sillian had to defend herself, she leaned her body backward, holding the hilt of her sword tightly, counterattacking and hitting the hand Sillian used to hold the sword.

"Good thing they're made of wood; otherwise, I would have lost my hand," Sillian said, smiling at Mine, holding her hand tightly. Sillian made her body go up, letting go of Mine's hand and delivering several thrusts that were defended by Mine in mid-air.

'These two are impressive. If they were really wooden swords, they would have broken on the first attack,' Kadia thought as her gaze passed through all the groups.

"This is unfair to the other women... even with this strength, they still maintain such a beautiful physique," Litty spoke indignantly, with a disgusted expression.

"What are you talking about? A flick from you, and a mountain disappears" Edward said, picking up his sword from the ground.

"Oh, are you saying I'm beautiful? Too bad you made me so small, huh? Hehehe," Litty said with a smug expression, floating in front of Edward's left eye, touching his eyebrow.

"Unlike those two, I hope you take it easy on me. Haha, it would be bad to get injured on the first day," Edward said, drawing Amelin's attention, who had focused on the fights of the other two.

"Ugh, he ignored me," Litty said, shocked, clicking her tongue, and went back to sitting above his head.

"Take it easy? Hmm, I'll try, so be prepared because I'm not very good at that," Amelin said with an apathetic expression but exuding a huge murderous intent.

"I think it's better to stay away from you while you fight," Litty said, turning to the side and flying up, staying ten meters away.

'I should be the one saying that... well, now that I think about it, if it were someone very weak, it would be impossible not to hurt him,' Edward thought, looking around at various students who looked like children holding a sword.

While Edward pondered for a moment, the world around him seemed to have plunged into complete darkness. When he realized it, Amelin's wooden blade was already inches away from hitting his face. Swiftly moving his right leg forward, he managed to lean his body backward. Amelin's attack caused a strong gust of wind, tousling not only his hair but also the hair of all the students in the path of her strike, including Kadia herself.

'What was that? That strike resembles one of the lost blades, but a much inferior version. So, this is the girl with a potential of ten?' Kadia's eyes sparkled, and her hands itched with excitement. In front of her stood someone who could reveal the true form of soul forging.

"What the hell was that? She wasn't in love with him; she wanted to kill him!" Litty exclaimed, shouting with both hands squeezing her face.

"...Anyway, thank myself I got off him," Litty sighed in relief.

Observing all the commotion caused by Amelin's strike, Edward, who was standing with a perfectly straight body, feigned falling backward on the ground, sighing dramatically. "Oh my god, I saw death right in front of me."

"Hahaha, don't be so scared. You managed to evade such a blow. For a potential seven, you surprised me too much. It seems that this year, we're full of true talents," Kadia spoke, accompanied by numerous students who looked at Edward lying on the ground, commenting.

"What is the teacher talking about? It's not obvious that it was luck?"

"Hahaha, he must have used up all the luck in his life."

"His guardian angel must have pulled his leg."

"Well, it would be a shame to lose to the kingdom if he died; after all, he's still a potential seven... perfect to serve the others."

A strong stomp on the ground, raising dust, and a murderous look that made all the students shut their mouths and freeze came from Amelin. Despite this, the desire of the boys in the room for her only increased, and the rage of the other girls increased equally.

"I apologize, Edward. As I said, I'm not good at holding back... Luckily, you slipped, but even if there's anything I can do to make amends, just let me know, okay?" Amelin spoke, listening to the hateful screams and death threats being quietly uttered by the students.

'They can try. They would only be hastening their deaths because he slipped? Not at all. My eye doesn't lie; he dodged without leaving a hair behind,' Amelin thought, extending her hand to Edward this time, showing a small but more noticeable smile to everyone.
