Eastern Street was not too far from the school, about two or three stations away.
Since it was rush hour, Amanda suggested walking instead.
Amanda took the lead, and when they were nearing the bridge, she glanced over her shoulder. She saw Wynonna and Chloe talking and smiled. It seemed like Wynonna had no idea that her father was polishing shoes there.
Her girls' clique could not help complaining.
"Amanda, that Wynonna stole your limelight the moment she arrived. Why did you still organize a welcome party for her?"
"Yeah. You're too nice!"
Amanda hesitated a little before she said, "Actually, she's, my cousin. It wouldn't be nice if we fell out. Her family used to be wealthier than mine, so she didn't really hang out with me. Then, her father went to prison for tax evasion, so I'm doing this out of pity..." Her clique quietly exclaimed, "What? Her father was in prison?"
