Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Spring Autumn Treasures Pavilion (1)

"Guard leader," Yang Chunqiu hinted to Yang Xuan, asking him to come closer.

"Do we always allow the buyer to get that close to the merchandise on the display shelf?" Yang Chunqiu continued with the second part of his question right after Yang Xuan came close and stared in the same direction as he had.

Both their eyes land on a warrior with a finely crafted iron sword in his hand. The price tag of five Silver Ingots was still on the weapon's sheath, indicating that the merchandise is yet to be sold.

"Yes, young master." Yang Xuan nodded in response to Yang Chunqiu's question. "What's the point of the shopper coming to a Treasured Pavilion if they aren't allowed to inspect the product before buying?" the guard leader added.

Yang Chunqiu nodded, feeling that the guard leader's answer made sense. Still, his worry was justified because the items around them had their starting price in Silver Ingots. Even the most expensive dishes in the restaurant they walked past earlier only cost half a Silver Ingot.

"The pavilion naturally has several precautions to ensure nothing inside here can be stolen." Yang Xuan smiled after reading Yang Chunqiu's expression. "For example..."

The Guard leader grabbed a Battle Hammer from the display shelf nearby without finishing his sentence and tossed the weapon as hard as possible towards the entrance.

As the Battle Hammer was about to leave the premises, a flash of light cast a layer of silver barrier surrounding the wooden door. What followed afterward was the weapon hovering midair, like a force was holding it from falling on the ground.

"This is merely one of the few security measures used by our Spring Autumn Treasures Pavilion. There are naturally a few other methods that we don't disclose them to the public." Yang Xuan added.

"Furthermore, only several individuals in the pavilion have the right to issue the Mark of Dispell that allows the goods to be taken outside the building without problem. Without them, there's almost no way for those with ill intentions to bring the treasures outside."

"This is also why we're confident in letting the buyer come in contact with what caught their interest." Yang Xuan gave Yang Chunqiu a smile as he ended his answer here.

"By the way, the Spring Autumn Treasured Pavilion also offers a buying service for those wanting to sell their wares to us. We buy everything from medicinal pills to crafted weapons, magical amulets to spiritual gems, as long they're worth something." Yang Xuan quickly added.

Unnoticely, the two were approaching the staircase leading to the upper floor.

"Your most humble follower, Yang Guiren, greets the third young master," an elder interrupted them before the two took their first step up the stairs. This elder had a sophisticated look on him and came with a thin yet knowledgeable aura surrounding him.

He also had a head of long white hair, turning-white eyebrows, and a short beard.

"Young master, this must be the first time you've seen the vice pavilion manager, Yang Guiren. He's one of the three individuals I mentioned earlier with the right to issue the Mark of Dispell on the sold merchandise." Yang Xuan quickly introduced the elder to Yang Chunqiu.

"En," Yang Chunqiu nodded without turning his head to look at Yang Xuan. "Is there anything you need me for?" Yang Chunqiu then asked the elder a question nobody expected. Without feeling embarrassed or awkward, Yang Chunqiu kept his hawkish gaze on the vice pavilion manager and studied his sly expression.

He felt that the geezer was trying to keep him from going upstairs. Furthermore, the overly accommodating smile from Yang Guiren hides a slight impression of belittling Yang Chunqiu for his flawed physique.

But Yang Guiren left his question unanswered because a worker interrupted them midway, asking for a mark to be placed on an Iron Sword that cost the buyer five Silver Ingots. A few minutes later, the matter requiring the vice pavilion manager's attention was handled. Simultaneously, Yang Chunqiu's question also went off quietly.

"Young master," Yang Guiren smiled at Yang Chunqiu once more apologetically like it couldn't be helped.

"You look like you had a reason to stall me here. Is there something happening upstairs that you need me to stay here until they're all handled?" Yang Chunqiu asked Yang Guiren the second time.

This time, his tone was firmer, unbefitting the reputation of a spoilt young master.

There's a reason for Yang Chunqiu to insist on asking the question. Still, the most obvious one is because of his "rich" experience from his previous life. Without any explanation necessary, he could easily detect Yang Guiren's intention to keep him here on the ground floor.

"Young master must be jesting," Yang Guiren's face hardly changed even after Yang Chunqiu exposed his intention.

"Nevermind. I'll listen to your answer later."

"Guard leader, I'm a little thirsty after walking for half an hour. Bring me to a place where I could peacefully enjoy tea without disturbance." Yang Chunqiu then directed his order to Yang Xuan.

"Yes, young master. Our pavilion had several private rooms ready at all times for your perusal. Coincidentally, nobody occupies the best room with a garden view. Shall this servant bring you there and arrange for someone to prepare you the best tea our premises have to offer?" Yang Xuan raised his voice slightly in his reply.

It is obvious that he was trying to give the others a hint about what they had to do to appease this little overlord's anger.

"Lead the way," Yang Chunqiu said and gave the order to Yang Xuan to bring him to the room without leaving a hint of respect for Yang Guiren.

...

...

"Young master, are you really angry?" Yang Xuan asked fifteen minutes after they had come into the private room. He could feel something had changed about the young master, but he could not tell where and what had changed.

Nevertheless, it was a good one compared to the young master who was here half a month ago.
