Chapter 20 - Only Talented Cultivators Can Advance

The wooden wall was very strange.

Whenever Su Login touched the surface of the wooden wall, he was pushed violently backwards. He realized that the speed with which he was pushed increased if he tried to fly higher on the Flying Sword and touch the wall. He didn't try to fly too high because he didn't know which Magical Beasts were in the sky.

After analyzing this strange event, he decided to go back and warn the group of six cultivators he had seen earlier. The wall looked harmless, but it could hurt anyone who touched it carelessly.

While flying, he opened his Quest System:

[Daily Quest: Get 100 Karma Points (0/100).]

[Side Quest: Fly 1km on the Flying Sword (0.3/1).]

[Main Quest: Reach Qi Condensation I Stage.]

[Local Quest: Kill 'Sage Arboreal Bull' (0/1).]

Su Login was still intrigued by the Sage Arboreal Bull, he wanted to know what kind of enemy it would be... but he felt he was still too weak to think about taking it on.

It took ten and a half minutes for Su Login to find the group of cultivators. The young people hesitated a little at the sight of a mysterious person in a white fox mask and black clothes, but Su Login bowed to show that he didn't want any trouble.

"Be careful, brothers and sisters, there's a strange wall up ahead. If you touch the wall, you'll be thrown back."

The other cultivators looked at Su Login doubtfully, but he decided not to wait for anyone to say anything and flew off on his Flying Sword, disappearing into the shadows of the forest. In fact, he didn't really disappear, he just walked away and then returned to the group, watching from the top of a tree.

[You have received 100 Karma Points.]

[You received 30 XP.]

He would check the Karma System store when he had time.

Since entering this forest, Su Login had spent most of his time up in the trees, always hidden and watching people.

There was a discussion among the members of the group, they spent a long time thinking about whether to believe the words of the stranger in the fox mask, but in the end they decided to head in the direction of the wooden wall.

Su Login followed them over the trees, only dropping to the ground when he couldn't jump from one branch to another.

After an hour of walking, they finally reached the wooden wall. All the cultivators looked at each other, not knowing exactly what to do. Finally, a girl stepped forward and decided to touch the wood. She seemed to be the oldest of the group.

Since it was true that there was a wooden wall, then they would also believe what the masked stranger had said about being thrown away when touching the surface.

The girl took confident steps and, after a sigh, touched the wall. At the same moment, her hand went through the wood, as if there was nothing in front of her. The other members of the group widened their eyes.

Seeing that she had nothing to fear, the girl touched her other hand and then moved her whole body. She went through the wall as if it were made entirely of water.

Su Login, who was watching the scene from the top of the tree, was amazed to see the girl crossing the wall without being pushed. He squinted his eyes and looked at the five cultivators who were hesitating.

Finally, one of the young men decided to go forward and touch the wooden wall. By now, everyone must have thought that crossing the wall was a way to advance in the Peach Tree Trial. They couldn't miss this chance.

The moment the young man's hand touched the wooden surface, he was thrown and rolled along the ground while screaming.

The other cultivators let out a cry and went to help the young man. There was no doubt that the masked stranger was telling the truth. It seemed that the wooden wall chose who could cross it and who couldn't.

Two young men looked at the wall with determination and decided to touch it. When their hands approached the surface, one of the young men was thrown and the other wasn't, but the one who wasn't thrown couldn't cross the wall like the girl had.

The young man who wasn't thrown took two short swords from his back and began to use the blades to scale the wall. Su Login couldn't see how high or long the wall was, but he was sure that this young man would have to climb a lot.

There were only two cultivators left who didn't try to touch the wall, they looked at each other and took a few steps. Su Login was curious, what was the difference between them and the girl who crossed the wall as if it were made of water?

The two young people touched the wall and neither of them was thrown, but they didn't manage to get through the wall either. They looked up and saw the other brother climbing, so they started climbing too.

One of the young men used his fingernails to climb, while the other picked up his Flying Sword and began to fly upwards.

The young man flying the sword overtook the other two and smiled arrogantly. The Flying Sword technique could not be used by beginners, Su Login was an exception because of his Daily Login System.

When the young man on the Flying Sword reached high up, he looked down with contempt, as if he was despising everyone, he thought about taking a break, but was suddenly surprised by a shout.

The young man didn't even have time to react, a large white hawk with wooden talons swooped down and took his head away. The headless body and the Flying Sword plummeted from the sky at such speed that a red liquid spilled out after a violent impact against the ground.

Su Login let out a sigh, he was right not to fly too high on his Flying Sword, he couldn't even keep up with the speed of the hawk that had beheaded the young man, it was certainly a Magical Beast with a very high cultivation level.

The two young men climbing the wall looked with horror at the headless body lying on the ground, but they also felt a little satisfied, after all, that cultivator had tried to mock them for mastering the Flying Sword technique.

They continued to climb for a few more minutes, but the young man who was using his nails to climb began to tremble. It seemed as if the wall was trying to throw him with all its might, but the young man was driving his nails harder into the wood.

The cultivator using the two blades increased his pace and climbed even higher, reaching a point where Su Login could no longer see him.

The young man using his nails continued to tremble and slowed down his advance a lot, he could hardly climb any further...

"Argh!"

The cultivator screamed and drove his nails even deeper into the wood, but he was suddenly thrown through the wooden wall and flew far away, only his bloody nails remaining stuck to the wall.

That young man probably died when he fell, he was thrown too fast and ended up too far away.

Su Login had an idea of what was going on there. The girl who went over first was the most talented of all because she didn't have to make an effort, while those who didn't go over the wall could be considered disqualified from the Peach Tree Trial.

The young man who used the swords to scale the wall also passed, he just had to work harder to get through.

Out of six cultivators, only two managed to advance, with another two dying in the attempt.

The other two who were pushed when they touched the wall sighed and decided to retreat, perhaps to try to get around the wooden wall — it would probably be a useless action.

Su Login didn't stay there any longer and decided to walk around a bit to see how the other cultivators would fare in front of the wall, perhaps there was some other way through that he hadn't realized.
