"Is our carriage under an attack?" Amelia asked in a whisper.
"I don't know." Karl was staring outside the carriage through the window on his side.
"Shh, lower your voice, they are gonna hear you." She warned covering his mouth with her hand.
"No need, they know someone is in the carriage" he said taking her hands away from his mouth gently. "I'm going to take a look." Amelia held his hand, he turned to look at the frightened woman and patted her hands.
"I'll be fine" he reassured her with a smile.
"Don't die" she warned seriously releasing her grip slowly and finally let go of his hand. Karl nodded at her and left the carriage. She was really scared. What if the carriage is actually under an attack and worst by rogue vampires. She asked herself. She had heard of rogue vampires from her brother when he had explained his encounter with one.
According to him, these vampires break away from the traditional vampire society and live by their own rules. They possess unique abilities and a rebellious nature. Rogue vampires are dangerous, as they don't adhere to the same code of conduct as other vampires. They use their powers for personal gain and even prey on humans without restraint.
What if we are outnumbered by these creatures? It was just herself, Karl, the coachman and a sturdy looking man who was riding behind them. She dreaded the possibilities.
She decided to peek through the window to see what was going on. Just as she looked outside the carriage window, she saw the coachman falling lifelessly to the ground with a knife impaled in his chest.
Amelia recoiled in horror as she witnessed the coachman's lifeless body crumpling to the ground, the glint of a knife piercing his chest. She instinctively shifted away from the carriage window, her eyes wide with disbelief and fear. The sight was both shocking and chilling, leaving her shaken to the core. She found it really hard to breath and was desperately gasping for air. Her heart raced as she laid eyes on the lifeless body of the coachman. Instantly, her palms grew clammy and her feet turned icy cold. The shock and fear of the scene sent a shiver down her spine, leaving her trembling with unease. The carriage is really under an attack she thought to herself. She never imagined her wedding day to be the day she dies.
The realization that she would soon meet her own demise sent a wave of dread coursing through Amelia's heart. The weight of the situation settled heavily upon her, filling her with a deep sense of fear and foreboding. Amelia's heart filled with concern as she glanced at the empty seat where Karl had been moments ago. "I hope he's alright," she whispered, her voice filled with a mixture of worry and prayer.
Amelia sat in the carriage for what felt like an eternity, her heart pounding with anxiety as she awaited her miserable fate. However, to her surprise, the dreaded end did not come. She couldn't help but feel a mix of relief and confusion as she realized that her anticipated demise had been delayed, at least for now.
Amelia's eyes scanned the desolate surroundings, searching for any signs of a battle or conflict that could explain the eerie silence. Confusion and doubt filled her mind as she questioned whether they had indeed come for just Karl. The absence of any visible fight left her perplexed and wondering about the mysteries unfolding around her.
'What if they took him?' Amelia couldn't help but ask herself. Amelia's panic surged as the realization hit her like a bolt of lightning. With wide eyes and a racing heart, she made up her mind to step out of the carriage and investigate. The need to uncover the truth overwhelmed her, pushing her to take action and confront the unknown.
Meanwhile, outside the carriage, Karl stepped out and witnessed his coachman's lifeless body falling to the ground. This scene alarmed Daniel who was escorting the carriage. Just as he was about to rush forward and confront the assailant, Karl stopped him. Raising his hand and turning to face Daniel, he spoke in a commanding tone, "Protect my wife in the carriage at all costs, if it leads to that." He stepped forward to see who the intruders were. He was taken aback by the sight before him. Three figures stood in front of the carriage. In the center, there was an elderly man with gray hair, flanked by two youthful individuals. The young boy on the right was the one who had taken the life of the coachman.
Karl's surprise wasn't just because of their appearance. It was because the old man was actually the seer! The seer is a figure of great significance and rarity, hardly ever seen. The last time he was witnessed was two centuries ago during the war between the southern and eastern vampire kingdoms. The seer came with a prophecy at the time, a prophecy that changed everything in his life.
So seeing the seer before him, he was naturally surprised and curious as to why the seer was here and what the seer was doing here.
Karl looked at the coachman's lifeless body on the ground and nodded in understanding. He knew that for every visit from the seer, a soul must be sacrificed. It's a chilling and ominous requirement, but an important part of the seer's presence.
"Wyatt Stone," the seer called out in an ancient tone of voice that carried a strong presence. After acknowledging Karl's presence, he looked behind him and bowed, calling out, " Queen Amelia." Karl was so captivated by the seer's presence that he didn't even notice when Amelia joined them outside the carriage.
Amelia was utterly perplexed. Why was he acknowledging her after confronting their carriage and killing the coachman? And why was Karl just standing there, seemingly unbothered by the old man? Was he scared of him? All these questions swirled in Amelia's mind as she stared blankly at the seer, lost in thought. She stared at the old man, the old man in the middle had a weathered face, his gray hair cascading down his back like a silver waterfall. The two young lads on either side possessed an air of youthful vitality, their features sharp and defined. But it was the young boy on the right who stood out the most. His eyes held a glint of mischief and danger, and his presence exuded a sense of darkness.
"Seer Ezekiel" Karl spoke in a different voice. He was about to speak again when Amelia gently took hold of his hand. When she heard Karl's voice just now, she had thought that something was wrong with his face. But as he turned back to look at her, she found out that his face was perfect. 'Sigh, guess I won't be seeing him in his vampire form any time soon,' she said to herself.
"You know him?" Amelia asked as Karl looked at her silently. "Yes, his name is Ezekiel, and he is our current Seer," Karl replied. Amelia turned her head to look at the coachman's corpse, and Karl followed her gaze, he immediately understood the unspoken question she was trying to ask.
"A soul is always sacrificed anytime the Seer appears," he explained. Amelia's face filled with horror as she looked at the Seer and then back at Karl.
"Don't worry, the seer hardly appears. This is only the second time he's shown himself," Karl reassured Amelia. Amelia let out a sigh of relief and nodded at him. Karl turned his attention back to the seer, his eyes silently conveying the question he didn't want to put into words.
"I am bearing a message for Queen Amelia," Ezekiel declared. 'For me?' 'And why is he referring to me as Queen Amelia?' Amelia questioned herself looking into the old man's eyes.
"Are we safe?" Karl asked, shielding Amelia behind him. "For now."
"Your dreams Queen Amelia..." "You know about my dreams?" Amelia asked interrupting him.
"Yes." He knows about her dreams! She was about to step out from behind Karl's back but stopped. "How do I stop them? I mean, my dreams." She inquired. The weight of her question hangs in the silence, as she seeks a way to halt the haunting grip of her dreams.
"You don't" Ezekiel replied sternly. "I came with a warning. Something big and unpredictable is on the horizon," he warned. As his words hung in the air. The seer's eyes met Amelia's, conveying the weight of his message. "Family turning against one another, enemies turning close friends and allies. And no one can stop it except you. You need to complete your dream, stop running away from it." he informed, his voice filled with a sense of foreboding. It was clear that the fate of many rested on Amelia's ability to fulfill her dream. The seer's words lingered, leaving a sense of both hope and trepidation in the air.
"But I have completed my dream" Amelia responded immediately.
"You have only seen the end, you've only seen how things end but you haven't seen the start, the beginning, the cause and the process." He told her. There is a beginning? Amelia questioned herself, how come?
"Why didn't the dream just start from the very beginning?" It was truly ridiculous, why would the dream begin from the end and the most horrific part? Amelia shivered when she recalled the dream.
"You have been running from it, you never paid attention to it, you never remembered it. I'll be leaving now, but I warn you, do not give this dream out to just anyone, the dream must only be told to someone you trust. And finally, do not trust easily as many may figure out that you are the bearer of this dream. Goodbye Queen Amelia" and with that the man vanished with his escort.
They stared at the spot where the seer once was lost in thought.
"We should continue our journey" Amelia suggested, breaking the silence. It was getting dark already and their journey was a long one. As she was about getting back into the carriage, Karl's voice stopped her.
"We can't ride in that." She looked at him puzzled, creasing her brows, she blinked her eyes in confusion.
"The coachman is dead and it's getting late, if we ride in that we will encounter actual attacks" he explained feeling her gaze on him. She is the only person he has ever explained things to in length. He was accustomed to issuing commands, and even when others didn't comprehend, they never dared to question him.
"So how do we get..."
"We are going to leap or run, whatever works" he informed her interrupting the question she had wanted to ask.
"Oh" she said softly. He shifted his gaze towards her, taking in her appearance with a thorough sweep. "I'll carry you," he proclaimed confidently.
