Chapter 20 - Chapter 20: The Perilous Timed Bomb

"Stop the car! Stop it now!" Seto finally realized something was amiss as the road ahead seemed to end.

"It's no use, boss! The brakes have failed!" Panic engulfed Seto's subordinate, bewildered by the sudden brake failure. In his frenzy, he accidentally pressed the accelerator, sending the car careening forward at an even greater speed.

This was Little Ai's cunning design: upon reaching a specific location, the brake line underneath Seto's car would sever automatically. Their plan was to have Seto inadvertently crash into the Inumine Police Station, ensuring another visit to the police.

"Demons... there are demons in this car..." By the time the on-duty officer Junto arrived, Seto lay on the ground, foaming at the mouth. The collision with the police station's gates had knocked him unconscious, but it was more than the impact. Seto, guilty and paranoid, believed Heinzt's spirit haunted him, nearly causing a heart attack from sheer terror.

"Victory!" Watching Seto face the consequences of his actions, Zhang Fan, Little Tong, and Little Ai high-fived in celebration. It was time to return home and share the good news with Little Tear.

The successful retrieval of all seven paintings was a reason for jubilation. However, Seto's constant run-ins with the law and negative media coverage forced him to divert public attention with an art exhibition.

As for the uncle who persecuted Heinzt, the mastermind behind it all, Zhang Fan had shared his insights with the three sisters. The revelation was hard for them to accept, but facts were facts. The sisters knew Zhang Fan had no reason to deceive them. Yet, what should be their next move?

With the "Camellia Lady" incident temporarily resolved, Zhang Fan and the sisters were far from relaxed. To combat Seto's vast influence, the Coming Life family's butler, Yonishi, appeared on the scene. Yonishi, a man with far-reaching connections and influence, managed the family's and Heinzt's legacy. Deceptively unassuming in appearance, he was rumored to be capable of securing even the U.S. presidency if he wished.

Yonishi's involvement brought numerous cases to light, especially those implicating Seto in corruption, tax evasion, and even murder. Toppling Seto was easy, but reaching the roots of his backing was more challenging.

The next target was clear: an art exhibition at Seto's memorial hall, featuring a painting named "Warrior Woman" signed by Kranauf – presumably another of Heinzt's works under a pseudonym. Their mission: to steal the painting, expose Seto, and tarnish his reputation beyond repair.

Just a day before their plan, a powerful timed bomb was discovered near the Cat's Eye Café, seemingly targeting Little Ai. If not for Zhang Fan's timely intervention, she would have been a casualty.

Returning from grocery shopping, Zhang Fan encountered Little Ai returning from school. Their chance meeting turned fortuitous as Zhang Fan sensed impending danger. A barely audible ticking sound alerted him to the bomb. Instinctively, he tackled Little Ai to the ground, shielding her from the blast.

Zhang Fan lay wounded, his body pierced by shrapnel, yet he remained conscious. The pain was excruciating, but his sacrifice had saved Little Ai. As she realized Zhang Fan's selfless act, her heart filled with gratitude and concern. His condition was dire, but his heroism had undoubtedly saved her life.
