Chapter 22 - Chapter 22: Cat's Eye Framed?

Aware that the displayed "Valkyrie" in the exhibition hall was a counterfeit, the notification was still sent out. On the specified night, Zhang Fan and the three sisters, Little Tear, Little Tong, and Little Ai, daringly glided into the multi-storied exhibition hall using hang gliders.

Little Tear had strongly expressed her desire to join the mission, but unfortunately, her control over the hang glider was not yet precise enough. Even with her ability to control the wind, the gentle breeze she commanded paled in comparison to the tempestuous winds of the natural skies.

"Ah, it seems even the heavens are aiding us," Zhang Fan gratefully observed the sky upon their successful landing. Using hang gliders was a significant risk. The area below the exhibition hall was heavily guarded, making ground infiltration nearly impossible. However, no one would have anticipated an aerial entry by Cat's Eye.

The moon shone bright and full that night, potentially exposing their aerial approach. Their venture was a gamble, but as they launched, a miraculous occurrence of clouds veiling the moonlight aided their stealthy entry into the building.

From the rooftop, the building seemed ablaze with light. Seto had barred police from guarding inside the building, but they were stationed in force outside, led by Officer Junfu, determined to prevent Cat's Eye's infiltration.

"Let's begin our mission. The guards patrol the vault every twenty minutes; we have ample time," Zhang Fan whispered, consulting the building's blueprint with the sisters. The vault's door appeared ordinary, without any visible security measures.

"What's going on here?" Little Ai wondered aloud upon entering the vault, confronted with the emptiness and the counterfeit "Valkyrie" hanging on the opposite wall. According to Uncle Yonishi's information, the room was supposed to be laden with traps.

"Put these on," Little Tong offered special glasses to Little Ai, who then realized that the short distance from the door to the "Valkyrie" was densely packed with infrared alarm systems. A single touch would trigger alarms throughout the building, rendering escape impossible.

Zhang Fan then tossed a card onto the ground ahead, which instantly incinerated upon touching a high-voltage electric trap. "Seto is playing a deadly game," they realized, understanding the lethal intent behind these traps.

"No more discussions. We've committed to this confrontation with Seto," Zhang Fan said, confidently pulling out his 4A1 rifle and riddling the counterfeit painting with bullets.

"Retreat!" Mission accomplished, they swiftly withdrew. Gliding under the moonlit sky, they successfully left the exhibition building. By the time the guards discovered the destruction of the "Valkyrie," Zhang Fan and the sisters had safely landed.

The next day, Seto called a press conference amidst the uproar over the destroyed "Valkyrie." To counter the negative publicity, he presented the supposed real "Valkyrie" and implicated Officer Junfu, declaring his absolute trust in the police to apprehend Cat's Eye.

"Hmph, that sly fox is definitely up to no good," Zhang Fan scoffed at Seto's theatrics and Junfu's unwarranted implication, sensing the start of a new scheme.

"Such a hypocrite, I can't stand him!" Little Ai and Little Tear expressed their disdain for Seto's deceptive appearance of righteousness.

Seto's public support for the police was suspicious, considering his history of non-cooperation. "Let's investigate further before planning our next move," Little Tear suggested, her calm demeanor guiding their strategy.

Indeed, gathering information was crucial under these circumstances.

The next surveillance mission was assigned to Little Tong and Little Ai. The operation faced challenges as Seto had cunningly employed fierce hunting dogs in his courtyard, posing a threat to their safety.

Despite the mission's challenges, Little Tong managed to gather crucial information – their enemies were plotting a harsher assault. But before they could act, Seto made his move.

In the exhibition hall, a guard was found dead under the "Valkyrie," impaled by a metal rod, with a piece of Cat's Eye's fabric clutched in his hand – a piece Little Tong lost during the previous night's encounter.

"Zhang Fan, you must believe me, I didn't kill him!" Little Tong panicked upon seeing the news report. She hadn't intended to steal the "Valkyrie" or harm anyone. Overwhelmed by the fear of losing Zhang Fan's trust, she desperately sought his reassurance.

"You silly girl, who else would I trust if not you? How could you possibly be a murderer?" Zhang Fan was momentarily speechless, not fully grasping the extent of Little Tong's distress, a mixture of being framed and the complex emotions involving her relationship with him and her sisters.

"Really? You won't abandon me?" Little Tong, seeking comfort, pressed against Zhang Fan,

 her voice tinged with vulnerability.
