Chapter 21 - Shopping

She looked me over. Her gaze taking in my body. "Mistress," she inclined her head towards me. "I had heard rumors but I had thought them false."

"Nefer choose her recently."

"So what brings you here? Do you need a couples set?"

Couples set? What was that? I should know this shouldn't I?

"We will need a few of those in colors that fit My Mistress. However, we are here today to see if you have that would suit her."

"What is Mistress NightLeaf looking for?" She turned her attention back on me.

This I could do. "I'm looking for a few dresses. I'd like them to be on the lighter side. Not in color but in weight. Although, I do prefer my dresses to be darker shades." Since I couldn't drink like a civilized person.

The dress I was wearing now couldn't be the one I had been wearing when I had gone on my little blood binge.

"So a lighter style is what your looking for?" She asked.

"Yes." I had to bite my tongue from saying sorry. Jasper rubbed a hand down my back. It was a soothing touch which made me move closer to him. SilverWood looked between us. Her face didn't change but I knew she had taken note of the shift.

"Will you be okay with the colder weather?"

I had to bite my lips not to laugh. "Something a little heavier would be okay but I'm not a fan of skirts with a large number of layers... I tend to step on them when there's to many." I sighed. "I miss the dresses I grew up with."

"Do you know who the designer was?" I blinked at Jasper. "What?"

"I designed them. My Dads made had them made after I drew them up."

"Those would have been exclusive designs!" SilverWood exclaimed. "Those dress designs are yours. No one else can wear them!"

The entire building went silent. Everyone was staring at me. "Wait here I will fetch paper." I watched as see sped off. Which left me standing with Jasper as everyone gocked at us.

"I feel like I said something I shouldn't have."

"Not at all. I wasn't aware you had exclusive designs. It will be harder for me to match you with a couples set."

"I could design the matches." I shrugged. "I've had a few ideas over the years but I never had anyone to wear them with." Mainly because they don't fit the dress standards of this time. I was allowed to wear my dresses at home as a child but I was never allowed out of the house in them.

"You are the Mistress of Nefer. You may dress as you will. In fact you may find many will try to imitate your way of dress now."

SilverWood held everything needed to draw a design. "We can sit over here as we work and maybe we can talk on what materials you like."

I wasn't sure what types of fabric there were. I had never had a say in any of that. "Let Jasper pick. He should know better about what fabrics I'll need to wear in the capital for the season."

I sat down on a couch but Jasper stood behind me. I set to my task as they spoke. "Most of these are designed with a thicker layer of fabric underneath with a lace overlay. It will be harder to translate that into a couple's set," I missed quietly. I tilted my head and felt Jasper's breath.

"Are you hungry?" I asked him. "You can drink if you want to."

"Some of these seem to show a good bit of skin. Are you okay with that?"

"Easier to move that way. Besides most of these are meant to be worn with pants underneath." I glanced at him as I felt his mouth open. His teeth slid into my skin smoothly. Far easier than mine ever had.

So I turned my focus on which ones would work for events. Then I made a rough sketch of a tank top and long pants.

If I added lace cut outs he would match but it might read more feminine. I crossed it out with a glare.

SilverWood stayed silent as she watched us. Jasper pulled back as I made another outline. On this one I added a coat that went passed the hips and loosened the pants. Add lace in the wrist cuffs. This could work. Maybe a lace accent at the neck.

It was more of a mashup. It would look great on Jasper. Than again Jasper may not care for something so frilly.

"I would wear it. It doesn't look bad." With that in mind I made a few more. "Shall we head to the next place then?"

"Okay."

Jasper helped me up and we gave our goodbyes to SilverWood while ignoring the other women that were staring after us.

Next was shoes. Then jewelry.

"Home!" I groaned when we got back into the carriage. "No more!"

"As you wish Mistress."

I jerked up at his words. "No!" I yelled. "No calling me that when it's just us!" I felt my face go hot.

Did this thing have windows? I need to open a window. Before I bite him again.

Jasper leaned back and held out a hand to me. "If you are hungry you should eat. Come here... Mistress."

"You're doing this on purpose," I accused as I slid into his lap. It was effortless. The way his hand went to the back of my head, guiding me as I moved closer to his neck.

His chuckle was light but this close it was impossible not to hear, "Mayhap I am but you like it."

Damn mind reader.

My teeth found their mark easily. I was far more greedy with him than he had been with me. Not that he seemed to mind. There was no finger in my mouth trying to release the suction or pulling at my head to remove me.

When I let go he moved me. I relaxed in his hold and fought to stay awake. "The manor should be darker."

"Sleep I will arrange to have people come out." So I did.

At least my heart wasn't being as stupid this time.
