Away from the pair putting on a disguise, the gala began downstairs with almost everyone that should be present already in the hotel. But it was now that a certain man clad in a black suit, even his inner shirt was black. He leisurely stepped out of the limited edition luxury car with its doors held open for him.
He took a few steps forward but halted and tilted his head to the sky. His dark eyes dilated for a second before a frown appeared on his face but it also did not last long.
Up in the sky, clouds were gathering right above the hotel. Although it was dark, it was exceptionally dark around the premises of the hotel. He thought it was because of his arrival but even after his attempt to dispel the clouds, nothing changed causing the frown to form on his exquisite features.
With the realization that he was not the cause of the sudden change in the weather around the premises, he fixed the silver cufflinks of his right hand and walked inside with hurried but measured steps knowing who it could possibly be that had caused it. He doubted she knew what she was doing.
The moment he walked through the door, silence encompassed the hall as all eyes turned to him. Many wondered who he could be while admiring the fine man that stood before them but they dared not to approach him. There was an air of dominance emanating from him. His presence alone was enough to give the necessary warning to everyone around him.
While some others who recognized him had the look of horror in the countenance as if they had seen the devil himself. Especially those that knew the true identity of the man who stood by the entrance, scanning the entire hall with his eyes as if searching for something.
"Inform everyone, Lord Helios is present here tonight," one those who recognized him said to his companions. They had to be careful not to cross paths with him if possible.
"Understood, Master," the one who was given the instructions uttered with a bow of his head and withdrew from there.
While the non-human did their best to put some distance between themselves and Helios Sloan, the curious humans, especially the ladies who were captivated by his beautiful features, took weak and slow steps forward despite the danger signs and warning bells in their head but none was close enough to strike a conversation with him.
"Raye," Helios called in a low voice to his right hand.
"Yes, My Lord," Raye came forward.
"Find her, make sure no one else gets to her," Helios instructed. She was the cause of the changing weather and he was sure that the other creatures in here must have felt it and were only waiting to find the one who could cause such change to the weather even without chanting a spell. It didn't matter if others got to her first, he would just have to kill a few unwanted and insignificant creatures.
"As my lord commands," Raye bowed. Although he stood there and conversed, the humans could not see him nor was his voice heard by them.
A moment later, a middle aged man could be seen making his way through the crowd with his bodyguards, creating a pathway for him to move with ease. "Mr. Sloan," the man greeted and extended a trembling hand to Helios.
Helios glanced at the hand, then at the sweaty man but did not make an attempt to shake it.
"My Master do not shake hands with just anyone," one of the phantoms, disguised as a human, spoke and the man dropped his hand in embarrassment .
His words caught the attention of many and had them wondering what the identity of the man was. He had refused to shake the hands of the organizer whom they all knew of his wealth and status among the high society. The man's behavior, although with great effort to hide it, the obvious fear in him could be seen.
"Pardon me, Mr. Sloan… Welcome and thank you for gracing us with your presence this year," the man spoke but still, not a word was uttered by Helios to him.
It was after a short while that Helios casted a glance at him and saw his expectant and pleading gaze that he hummed and nodded. The man beamed and led the way but everyone's eyes followed the silhouette of Helios. He was not just good looking but also powerful. To have a man like Tony acting like a servant was something that would not be forgotten even after years have passed.
"Please make yourself comfortable, Mr. Sloan," Tony said. His very hands, still trembling from the mere presence of Helios. If he had a choice he wouldn't have invited this man but what was needed for the gala was money and no one had it better than the seated here now.
Helios, annoyed by his voice and presence, spoke, his tone dark and intimidating, "You may excuse yourself."
Tony appeared taken aback by the sudden command but he could only give a bow and turned around to leave. He didn't even realize that he bowed his head to another man. He sat at a little distance from Helios who was seated at the forefront on a designated space prepared beforehand for him although his coming was uncertain, preparations were still made.
The event went on once again, the entertainment for night began but all Helios could think of was his red-haired girl who thought she could run from him. He didn't even realize how much of his thoughts she had infiltrated just by doing nothing.
"Master," Raye appeared, seated beside Helios. "Something appears to be wrong with Miss Kim tonight," he reported.
"That is rather obvious," Helios clicked his tongue in irritation.
"Miss Kim would draw too much attention if she were to perform tonight but she is determined to go on with it. I believe it is her intention to garner attention from the people here," Raye went to inform him.
Helios face turned dark at those words and grim when he felt her presence drawing near.
