Eliana looked at the front yard to orphanage. It was empty. This place used to be filled filled with children running around and caretakers trying their best to keep them calm and still was empty. So silent that it could be mistaken for an old and abandoned building.
The building was old, yes, but its problem was that it lacked proper maintenance.
Taking a deep breath, she opened the door and stepped out. The silence greeted her, and her heart ached at how much this place had fallen. It was as if time, as well as the world had forgotten about its existence. Reaching the door, she knocked, then waited.
A minute later, a little girl and boy about 8-years old, twins to be specific, opened the door. Hushed voices could be heard at the end of the long hallway, indicating that the orphanage still had residents other than the two children in front of her.
