Chapter 6 - Cave Loses A Jewel

CLINK! THUD! CLINK!

Sylas could not open his eyes. Neither could he move his body. He felt as though he was squished between walls from all sides. He could not breathe either. He could vaguely hear the vibrations of the earth around him, the waves of sound came like a rock being thrown into water. He was quite parched. His stomach growled, sharp pangs of pain radiated his abdomen region. In his mind's eye flashed an image of April's maniac boyfriend stabbing him. Why am I alive, Sylas thought, where am I? Light touched the eyelids of Sylas.

THUD! THUD! CLINK!

Sylas felt a wave of warmth hit his face along with a stench. He blinked rapidly, then opened his eyes. He saw long thin silver gray hair block his vision. Confused, he tried to brush it away but his arm felt numb. An unfamiliar hand brushed the hair away from his face. Sylas darted his eyes around. It was too dark to really see anything. The hand backed away, the hair returning to its place. A gasp followed after, then a grunt, finally the scrapping of metal against stone.

CLINK! CLINK! CLINK! THUD! CRASH!

Sylas felt his heart race. Blood reached all the corners of his body. His fingers twitched, his toes curled, and his eyes squinted as dust made its home in his cornea. A heavy ragged breath fell on him. Cold hands grasped his head, as he felt a tug. Rhyming gargled noises with a heavy bass to them bounced against his ear drums.

[The man says, "Come on. I got you."]

Tears welled up in Sylas's eyes. As the man pulled Sylas, the walls of jagged rocks that outlined Sylas's encasement scraped against his skin. Blood was drawn. Another grunt echoed, followed by a tug. The walls cracked, then crumbled under the weight of Sylas. The rhyming gargled noises returned.

[The man says, "Push. Push."]

Tears poured out of his eyes as he let out a scream. Though he could not actually move, he felt his arms and legs push against the inner walls of his rocky womb. He heard a huge crash and rumbling of rocks colliding with a stone surface as he felt his body go limp. A chill ran over him. His teeth chattered as he was picked up and laid down gently on a warm blanket of sorts. It was still dark, the only light came from what Sylas assumed to be a flashlight. It pointed towards the crevice in the wall that once held him.

The man was panting on the ground in front of Sylas. He was a large silhouette and as he moved Sylas could hear metal banging against both the ground and other metals. Sylas looked at the crevice he came from, straining his neck. He raised his brow. "How did that fit me?" He whispered, but his voice was so weak he might as well just have thought it. The crevice contained a hole in the shape of a child. It must have been about half of his height. In front of the crevice was a pile of rocks.

While Sylas was analyzing the crevice, a large piece of the surrounding wall that encased the crevice detached from the wall. It rolled up into a beautifully engraved stone. It unnaturally rolled over to the pile of rocks, then took the appearance of said rocks. Paused. Afterwards it realized it was still in the light. The man had started getting up and headed towards the flashlight. The moving rock rolled away from the pile of rocks. Then it was gone. Sylas hadn't blinked, but he rubbed his eyes. It was really gone, disappeared into thin air.

The man managed to get up with some grunting. He made his way to the flashlight, coughed, picked up the flashlight and shined it into Sylas's face. Sylas covered his eyes with his hand. His nails were so sharp and long. He was a habitual nail biter in his previous life. "What the fuck is going on." He whispered as the light shining on him swayed. The man gasped. Rhyming gargled noises returned to Sylas's ears.

[The man says, "Devil."]

"Devil? I'm no devil." Sylas whispered.

"Wait, wait, wait! I had just died, I failed a staring contest and then reincarnated. I don't know how I know this but I'm currently in Dracaelfia. I am not on Earth. That weird rock. This man-" The man in question had set up the flashlight to point downwards at Sylas. It attached itself to the stony walls that surrounded them. There was no support that Sylas could make out. The man sat in front of Sylas. The man was covered in dust and muck. It was hard to discern when his black coat had ended and his beard began. He had a belt on with an assortment of pans, hand axes, picks, knives, and pouches dangling off of it.

The man scratched his unkempt short beard. His aura, musty. Rhyming gargled noises emerged from him as he maneuvered his mouth. A large growl echoed throughout their stony chamber. Hunger pangs dominated Sylas. He gripped his stomach. He was thinner, he thought, he's never been this thin before.

Now feeling around his body he groans. The scrapes on his body slowly disappeared, his blood retracted back into his abrasions. He placed his hand at his groin area. "It's gone? No, replaced. I'm a woman now?" She whispered as she realized that she was naked.

She covered herself as best as she could. Curling up into a ball. The man pulled out a cape from underneath his coat. Then gave it to her. She inspected it, then reached for it, snatched it out of his hands. She covered herself and attempted to sit up. She felt a weight on her head. She placed her hand on the sides of her forehead and felt the base of what seemed like a large fingernail with the soft texture of hair. She ran her long nails up the protruding horns coming out of the side of her forehead. It wasn't long, just about a few inches. She then brought her finger down to her ears which were extended to a sharp tip. She looked down at her legs. "It's really gone." She whispered. She noticed reptile-like scales on her knees. "Elf like ears? Horns? Scales! This is such a random combination of features. Unless I'm partially a demon elf reptile thing. I guess the reptile could either be a dragon or a snake or something."

Her nose twitched, pointing in front of her. She looked up to see the man holding out a slab of meat. Rhyming gargled noises- "Gimme!" She growled as she toppled over herself to grab the meat. The smoky burnt smell to it overwhelmed her senses. She ravished it. The taste left a lot to be desired. It felt like chewing through rubber, though her teeth were all sharp, especially her snaggletooth that hung out of the right side of her mouth. She burped. The man let out a burly laugh. He then handed her a small plate of water. She slurped it up in one go. She burped again and yawned.

"Alright. I hope there was nothing in those. They feel like normal water and meat though. Now the bigger question is who this man is. He's dirty. We are in a cave or something, is he a miner? I should ask the system for more information" Drowsiness washed over Sylas as she fell back for a moment. She caught herself, then slapped herself in the face. "I can't fall asleep for a second. What if he harms me? In this new world and body. I have no way to protect myself. If I get the chance, I should run away."

[New Quest Unlocked: kill HIM]

"What? Why would I kill this man? What kind of quest-" Darkness overwhelmed Sylas as she fell fast asleep.
