Chapter 15 - Chapter 15

The whole room went silent as everyone turned to the person who made the bid.

They all saw Amelia and Brittney together. Amelia wearing a mask and cold eyes, and Brittney with a straight face.

It took a while for the auctioneer to get himself together. His knees had gone weak, so he held the auction block to keep himself steady. Different thoughts ran through his mind in that short moment.

He wondered who would be so bold and rich to bid $40,000,000 on something that started at the price of $1,800,000. He looked up and he said "Sold" hitting his gravel. He knew there was no way anyone would rival that. He decided to save everyone the stress and just end it there.

Amelia turned to Brittney "Why didn't you go for $50,000,000? That was the price I had in mind" she said and Brittney chuckled "You're welcome. I just saved you $10,000,000" she said.

The necklace was wrapped up and brought to Brittney, but she moved it to Amelia.

Penelope scoffed lightly "Spending $40,000,000 on a necklace that was not even worth it. That's very nice of you Amelia" she said in a mocking tone and Amelia turned to her "The fact that I bought it makes it have value" she said and looked away.

 "What?" Penelope asked confused.

Amelia bought the black diamond necklace with such low price at a high price was her saying she did not need things that were valuable, she could make anything have value. It also meant that she had a lot of money to spend as care free as she wanted.

To Susan, she was telling her that she does not need a merge with her before she can get what she needs. With her money and power, she was just fine.

When Penelope and Susan realized that, they both glared at her. Amelia turned back to them "Oh, I didn't tell you. Black is my favorite color. Isn't it one lucky color?" She said and her eyes gave off a sly look.

One of the men on the table smiled at Amelia moving his business card over to her "Miss Amelia, it would not be bad if I had a meeting with you, would it?" He asked. Amelia looked down at the business card before looking over to the man "I'll check on my schedule and see how I can help you" she said.

Brittney took the card on the table and slid it into her purse.

The auction continued with some other jewelry.

Another object was brought in. The cloth was taken off and the women in the room marveled at the sight. The auctioneer was extremely happy with the reactions from the women. "Ladies" he started "This 6 inch closed shoe is coated in the gemstone known as Alexandrite. The alexandrite gemstone is green in daylight, changing to brownish or purplish red in the incandescent light from a lamp or a candle flame. This is as a result of the complex way the minerals absorb light. Isn't this a rare beauty?" He asked a rhetorical question.

A woman who was sitting in front of Susan's table turned back and asked her "Susan, can you please teach me your ways? How do you get all these rare jewels?" She asked and Susan laughed "Like he said_" she said referring to the auctioneer "_I go through countries and continents dear" she smiled at the woman.

"The alexandrite are 5 carat in each piece with 32 pieces of all of them. A single carat of alexandrite costs up to $70,000, and a 5 carat alexandrite makes each of them $350,000. You could imagine how much all of them would cost" he smiled at them

The women who came as a plus one with their husbands began to pull on them to get the shoe no matter what it takes.

The auctioneer started the bidding "The bidding starts at $13,000,000". A man's wife picked up his paddle and shouted out "$17,000,000". He did not complain and just let his wife do her thing.

Others saw this and began to follow suit. No one even waited for the auctioneer to give out the next bid. "$20,000,000" a man said for his wife.

 "$22,000,000"

"$23,000,000"

"$26,000,000"

Different people raised their bids, and because of what Amelia did, the tycoons got involved with this bidding as well.

Susan turned to Amelia "Won't you raise your bid on this one Amelia? It's a precious gemstone, you know" she said.

Amelia replied without looking at her "I just feel like there is no need to bid. It will still come to me" she said with a sure voice and Susan laughed, mocking her openly.

The bid had gotten up to $40,000,000 when a man's voice rang out in the whole room .

"$100,000,000".
