Chapter 20 - 20: Two new friends

~Ding dong~

A soft sound rang through the lecture room which signalled the end of the class and people started to get out immediately.

"Dang, that was boring. Let's not do that again." Cashel yawned as they got out.

"Sorry for you, homeroom is every morning and it's for two hours." Asher said.

At that moment, both of them moved to the side and right where they were just a second ago, an elf with wings flipped over and landed face first.

"Ack!" The fairy cried. "I knew you'd have good reflexes but this is insane."

Blood was dripping from his nose but the boy still had a smile on his face.

"Hey, I'm Luke. Nice to meet you." The boy extended his hand for a handshake.

"Hey are you okay?" Asher asked as the bloodflow seemed to have increased.

"Nah it's nothing. Let's be friends!"

"No thank you, I'd rather prefer to be alone or be with this idiot." Cashel replied.

"Hey, who's the idiot between us?! Aren't you the one who thinks with their fists first?!" Asher snapped.

"Oh? Who wiped out a hundred students from existence because they looked at your fiànce the wrong way?"

"That was…"

"You killed someone too!" Asher suddenly sprang up.

Meanwhile, Luke was still standing there with the blood flowing out like a steady stream until…

~THUD~

His body collapsed as he was too weak from bloodloss.

"Damn it! See what you caused!" Asher spoke in an annoyed tone.

"You moved out if the way first! If only you'd let him hug you from behind!"

"Lies! You were 0.1 seconds faster!"

The twins started to argue again until someone slapped them both in their faces.

"He's dying and here you two are arguing about some useless stuff!"

It was Marigold.

Asher's first thought was, 'I didn't sense her?' Cashel had a thought along the same lines too.

"Tch, I thought you guys were better than that." She seemed disappointed like she'd read their thoughts and she walked away with the unconscious Luke in her arms.

After a few seconds of silence, Asher and Cashel ran to meet the girl at the nurse's office where she was taking care of him.

She was the nurse's apprentice so she had the authority to start treatment on a broken nose and bloodloss.

After she was done, Marigold came out of the operation room to see two identical twins who had their heads lowered.

"We're sorry!"

"Say that to the fairy." Marigold spoke in an annoyed tone.

———

Asher and Cashel walked into an ongoing class along with Marigold and Luke since they all happened to be attending the "Magic Theory" class.

As they started the lesson, Asher realized how useful his mother's textbooks were.

Everything being thought here was downright basic. It was like going from 12th grade maths to the 8th grade.

Mana proportion? Mana exchange? What is that?

Throughout the whole lesson, Asher sat bored on his chair until his a.s.s cheeks were sore, 2 hours later, they were out.

"I'm leaving this class." Asher spoke.

"What? Why? Magic theories are funda–" Marigold started.

"I've had enough of those back home and what they're teaching here is basic stuff. There's nothing for me to improve on."

"Ha! This one got a headache from just reading a book!" Cash didn't forget to take a jab at Asher.

"Really?" Luke chipped in.

"Why don't you guys just read them yourselves. As they say, experience is the best way to learn." Asher spoke with a cruel smile.

"No, thank you." Cashel backed down immediately.

"If you have one, I'll take them." Marigold spoke.

"Same for me." Luke followed.

"Okie."

Asher fished out two large books out of his inventory and handed it over to Luke and Marigold.

"If you're able to handle it, you'll come out with great gains." He spoke, trying to sound like a wise monk.

"Was that spatial magic?" Luke's eyes were shining like stars and his wings fluttered a little.

"Yeah… Somewhat."

"Hey, is it true that you have only space and time magic with a large amount of mana. It's a rumor I heard when I was walking around." Luke whisperd.

"Nah, I have all the elements and this thick skull too."

"Hey, that's a bad joke. If some from the royal family heard that, you'd be in trouble."

"I heard a similar reaction to you but I'm not lying."

"For real bro…" Luke said.

"For real…" Luke spoke again.

"We have Magic combat class next. I'll show you what I can do." Asher spoke with a smirk.

"Don't overdo it or mom'll kill you." Cashel spoke from behind.

"Yeah yeah. Thanks for the reminder, thick skull, I should be saying that to you instead."

———

After a few minutes, the magic combat students stood in a large field that seemed to stretch on for miles. Anyone could go wild here without fearing any repercussions except a certain two.

"Hey where's our teacher?" Cashel called out and as if to answer his call, a body flew straight down from the sky and hit the ground, forming a large crater.

It was a woman with a very long auburn hair wearing combat clothes that clung to her figure.

"Good day students! I am Victoria West and your magic combat teacher!"

"Victoria West, an elf from Baron West's household and she is truly exceptional at Magic combat and even better with weapons. A blue core mage! Age 24, single and not searching!" Luke began to mutter to himself.

"Let's start with a little test! All of you! Use your strongest spells on me with all of your strength. Don't worry, I'm strong." Victoria flashed a smile.

"Hey, Cashel, I don't think this is a good idea. All our power should be enough to wipe out an entire continent." Asher whispered nervously and this didn't go unnoticed by Luke.

Meanwhile, Marigold stepped forward and pointed her palm at Victoria.

"Blessed spirits of fire, laws of creation and destruction abide in thee, I call forth, [Origin Flame]

A yellow fire ball formed itself atop Marigold's palm and she ran forward and threw it.

~BOOOM!~

There was a large explosion with dust flying all about making a few students cough.

After the dust cleared, everyone could see properly. Victoria was still standing like she has at the start and Marigold came back with her fists clenched.

'She didn't think she could scratch a professor, could she?' Luke thought.

"Next."

Luke snapped back to reality and he saw Asher waking up to the instructor.

'Which element would he use?'
