Chapter 1 - Substitute Bride

Radella Amadeus Yori. She never thought she could marry a man who didn't even touch her. The beautiful wedding that had been her dream all along was now just a memory. Everything was ruined because she had to replace Jessica Yori married Dominic Toretto–the young CEO who was her sister's lover.

Radella doesn't know what made her sister decide to leave on the wedding day and humiliate both parents and the Yori family. But certainly, she condemned her sister's actions. Because Jessica was the cause of the destruction of dreams and the future.

The day when she should have been able to smile happily with the person she loved. Finally, it must end in grief because she is side by side with a man she has never known before. Radella did not know Dominic Toretto exactly. During this time, she lived and worked in another city. She only knew the man from the photo Jessica sent her.

And now, when they met for the first time, it was in front of the altar in the wedding dress that her sister was supposed to wear. She still remembers how her dad convinced her to replace Jessica, and how her mother was against it. But it happened anyway.

"Help us to save our family's pride and honor, Radella. Only you can do that. Daddy can't count on your sister anymore. She has disgraced our family without knowing what will happen in the future."

Radella's continued pleading made radella nod her head without hesitation in order to save both parents' honor and their pride.

"Thank you, Radella. I'm so sorry. Daddy had to involve you in this," he said, clasping Radella's fingers tightly.

"Honey, are you sure about this decision? The Toretto's family will definitely not accept the insults that our daughter has made," said Theana Yori--her mother.

"It was the Dominic family who asked me to marry our younger daughter to his son. They also don't want to get embarrassed in front of their colleagues. Never mind, it's better for you to prepare Radella for their wedding. Everything else is papa's business," Hans replied without hesitation.

"But, Hans darling. I'm just not sure if Radella ..."

"Mom, never mind. I'm fine. Daddy and mom can rest easy. I'm going to marry that man. Just prepare according to the original plan. I'm going to my room and rest first. In the afternoon I will go to the salon for a treatment," said Radella to her parents.

She got up from the sofa and left her parents and walked into the room and locked it. She didn't want to be disturbed by anyone at this time. She tried not to cry. She did not want to add to their burden with her helplessness. Right now, she just wanted to save the family's honor and put her feelings and love story with Theo Lazuardi aside.

"What should I tell him if he finds out I married my sister's fiancé?" she said softly.

Radella and Theo are in a long-distance relationship. Her lover's work as a sailor made them decide to undergo a long distance relationship with mutual trust and commitment to each other.

They have promised to formalize the relationship to a more serious level after Theo's return in a few months. But now, all those plans are falling apart because of her sister.

"I'm sorry Theo. I don't think I can fulfill our promise. My parents' honor is above all else, and I have to help them. I hope you understand one day," said Radella feeling sad.

She could no longer stem her tears. She cried and cursed her life which had always been a shield for her sister's actions.

Ever since she was a child, she had always been number two in their family. Her parents always prioritized her sister's interests over their own. They reasoned that Jessica's birth was a blessing for them after a long wait.

Jessica Yori was the queen of their family. Meanwhile, she was only a complement that was needed at certain times. She was very used to being a cameo for her sister. Even in matters of love, she now had to let go of her own happiness.

"Don't embarrass us later, Radella! Remember, you're just a replacement bride for your sister. So, don't expect yourself to take Jessica's place in Dominic's heart. One more thing. You have to let him go if your sister comes back. Be aware, you're just a replacement, not the lead."

She was silent when her own biological mother was still trying to intimidate her. In fact, she only wanted to save the family honor, not win Dominic's heart.

In her mother's mind, she had no meaning whatsoever. Even though Jessica was guilty in this case, still, in her mother's eyes, she didn't mean anything.

She was only number two, just like her real mom said. Not the lead, but a substitute who could be thrown out at any time if they were no longer needed. She was always wrong, and her sister was always right and the winner.

That's what was always instilled by the biological mother who somehow never liked her presence. In fact, she felt that she was not a biological child of the Sanjaya family.

"It is your duty as a child to save the family's honor. But, that doesn't mean you can charm Dominic. Jessica just needs more time to get back together with Dominic one day. So, you must know your limits."

"Mom, take it easy. I'm not what you think now. I'm not going to take his attention and love from him. I also have my pride," said Radella, leaving her mom alone.

Here is she now. Standing next to her father who held her fingers tightly as if asking for strength to his own daughter and then delivered her to Dominic Toretto who was waiting in front of the altar.

"Dad, take a breath and calm yourself. Nothing will happen. We face this day calmly. Smile, because this is your daughter's wedding," she glanced and smiled at her father.

"Thank you, Sweetie," answered Hans Yori and smiled back then strode confidently away.

Meanwhile, up ahead, she saw the figure of the man who did not even look at her. He was very haughty and cold. She did not know what was in that man's mind at the moment. Perhaps, he was organizing a plan to avenge the insults Jessica had made to his family and himself. Or maybe he didn't care about that.

"Oh my God, he's so handsome. Why did you choose to leave this man and run off with someone else?" Said her looking at that man.

Radella stared unblinkingly at the man who was staring lazily at her. She could see how unenthused he was when her dad loosened their grip and then handed her over to that man to promise before God. There was a discordant murmur as the vows were exchanged.

She knew that everyone would be confused to see her with Dominic, not her sister. Especially, when the priest mentioned her name instead of the actual name of the bride-to-be.Â
