Chapter 42 - 42: What it means to die

𝗩𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗺𝗲 𝟮 𝗗𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝗚𝗮𝗽 𝗦𝗮𝗴𝗮!!! 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝟰2: What it means to die

"Hey what the hell are you doing?" Hex inquired with an arrogant expression on his face. Right before him, in his private toilet was his sister kneeling down with a silly smile on her face.

That wasn't what made Hex most angered. But what she held in her hand.

"My toothbrush!" Hex jumped foward to meet Chloe who had been utilizing his brush to scrub the inner sides of the toilet sit.

"What did I ever do to her to deserve such horrible treatment?"

Hex rescued his toothbrush from Chloe's hands. However, it was much too late for that.

His toothbrush had performed admirably as a toilet brush.

"Oh, sorry, bro. Are you angry?" Chloe put on an innocent expression as she asked her queries.

This made Hex fume even more.

"Don't you know the difference between a toilet brush and a toothbrush?" As Hex completed he recalled the day his sister arrived. He could not help but wonder when things started going this way.

"Sorry! This is the way I exert my revenge!!!" Chloe yelled rising up to glare at Hex.

'Even while standing she looks so short?'

Hex wrinkled his brow, puffing his cheeks and letting forth a breathy wail from his lungs. "What did I do now?"

Chloe clenched her teeth together. She loathed it when Hex puffed up his cheeks since it typically indicated that he did not want to hear anything she said.

"You scare Kyle every time, so I am here to scare your dental health!"

Hex shook his head, placing his hands in the pockets of his pajamas. "Before I throw you out of my room, could you please tell me when you started poisoning me?"

Chloe hinged a grin across her lips walking past Hex sluggishly, "I won't tell!"

'Shit! That explains why my toothpaste tastes like.... Damn.... This girl....'

SLAMMM!

Before Hex could respond again, he heard the forceful smash of his door, indicating Chloe's departure.

{Chloe encourages you to respect Kyle}

"That is not my concern; I dislike his appearance!" Hex turned around and exited the room.

{Phantom recommendation}

Hex paused his footing for a second. The notice occurred so abruptly that it could not have been the Phantom speaking.

'Recommendation....'

This was another confusing word to Hex. The Phantom had never displayed this scenario before, so he felt quite repelled by it.

'What do you....'

{You have been recommended}

{User of the Phantom}

{Recommended quest arriving}

Hex pushed up a puzzled look, his body rattled at the feeling he got from all the notifications that arrived.

{Quest recommendation}

{Conquerer of Evolution test is about to begin}

{User should prepare for entry}

Now hex felt a pressure he imposed on himself. An Entry, was he going somewhere.

Anything that came from the Phantom couldn't be safe.

Fwooom!

{Quest had arrived}

Hex's eyes ogled in shock as a violent gust of wind erupted in his room, hundreds of flickering lights accompanied with waves of black, swirling in the midst of his room.

Hex was able to identify this extraordinary occurrence quickly.

'A gap... It's opening in my home....'

Hex's body trembled violently. He had dreamed of days like this Before, an expectation of everyone that lived in the other dorms.

You would expect a gap to weild open in your room either now in the nearest future.

Still he didn't have to deal with this in the first timeline.

Fortunately, this was not the first timeline; in this existence, Hex was strong; he had the Phantom, which granted him incredible power.

If it was a gap, he would be able to clear it on his own, even without a group.

This would be an opportunity to improve his stats and level up. However this wasn't a usual gap, this was a Phantom generated gap.

As far as Hex knew anything that came from the Phantom as a test didn't hold any good tidings.

'Shit! The gap is finally taking colour!'

Hex began to tighten his fist as he glared at the small gap taking a ash reddish colour.

'Wait, this thing has three colours!'

Hex slowly examined the gap which possessed three variant colours. Red, ash and white.

He was unable to know the level of difficulty of this type.

'Could it be that this is a gap.... I am no match for?'

Hex gritted his teeth at this new dillema on his hands.

'A death gap.'

...

The mouth drying sight infront gotHex worked up. Normally, the rating of gaps mentioned nothing about these colors, and this was certainly not in his league.

"What the heck is this Phantom? The Phantom did not respond to his query. It was as though the Phantom wasn't operational.

'I can't go in, my sister would fucking kill me!'

Hex ground his teeth as he gingerly walked to the edge of his bed and picked up his phone.

He planned to call the association and report the matter as any civilian would do.

It pained him to do so, rather still, he couldn't venture into a surreal gap all on his own.

{Gap has been stabilized}

{User has 30 seconds left to enter the gap}

"I don't even get any of this information?" Hex placed the phone to his ear as he placed the call.

What the fuck? Is that thing counting?

Hex's full mind and sight were fixated on the notification.

{23... 19..... 17.... 14....}

Hex wrinkled up his face, expressing his discomfort at this notification.

"Hello, this is the Cursed Slayers association! How might we be of help?" A female voice muttered over the line.

"I need the assistance of...." After his eyes latched on the next Phantom Notification, he stopped speaking.

{0 seconds left}

{User has failed to enter the gap on time}

'I am not sure what is going on, but this gives me a horrible feeling.'

Hex had a strong feeling of gloom as he considered this situation.

{Penalty loaded}

{User thinks of this as a game}

{Penalty}

{User will die}

{Penalty initiated}
