Hex stepped hurriedly into another narrow passage. He had left the scrawny man in awe.

Once his task was completed, he went in search of the guy he had to save before his mother.

"I do not remember much about the man I am after, but I vaguely remember where I met him during this apocalyptic event and his face."

Hex looked down into the alley, checking every nook and crevice; it was apparent. Even the dumb effects could not conceal the awful recollection he was experiencing.

'This was where I slipped on a banana peel and a bottle got shoved up my ass when I fell.....'

Uhmmf? Hex focused his gaze on a green, empty bottle that had once contained ale. 'You vile monster we meet again!'

Hex kicked the bottle, sending it flying into the air and colliding with the alley wall, breaking into tiny bits of glass.

Hex folded his hands into his pockets, this alley where he stood led to the past memory of the man that rescued him. His brother.

Hex does not waste any time in making his way out of the alley and into what he had almost completely forgotten.

Everything was there, more brilliant than he could recall. A massive tank and a horde of men with black pants and jackets with vintage markings on them.

One of the men, the eldest one in particular, who appeared to be in command, turned to Hex and looked blank.

Because of the numerous deep scars on his face, which contributed to his terrifying reputation, he seemed fearsome.

"A kid survived all this horror!" The man murmured to himself with a perplexed expression.

This was quite rare, since adults would be discovered lacking legs, arms, or both during an apocalypse, but this youngster had few injuries.

"Kid don't worry you're safe! The Outwood Kinghts are here!" The man spoke boldly about himself.

The comment startled Hex, as the Outwood Kinghts were widely known throughout the Outwood dorm.

The Outwood Knights were a squad employed to replace the Cursed Slayers due to their delayed arrival. They were just installed a few weeks ago and their tech were awesome to the villagers.

To believe they were before Hex now was a fantasy.

'This garbage team with their garbage tech and their stupid pride! Why are they blocking my way? They say they can protect me when it's the other way around?'

"Child!" The man yelled loudly to shake Hex out of his thoughts.

'Tch this rat is trying to know what I am thinking, didn't his mother teach him manners?'

"What can we do for you kid?" The man asked with a calming voice. He plainly believed Hex was a disturbed child who needed assistance.

"Give me a big gun!" Hex's comments caught the man off guard. A child requesting a gun was too upsetting.

'As a kid I dreamt of holding a gun but never did and I died without fufilling, what's wrong about kicking the list off my bucket.'

(Bucket list)

"Not in a thousand years kid," the man formed a sassy laughter.

"Stingy old prick!" Hex cussed blowing a raspberry.

The man chuckled again, pleased by Hex's audacious behavior.

"Do you know where I can find a yellow house and a man in your brigade?" Hex inquired, tearing his gaze away from the man in dissatisfaction.

'This old shack is even more sassy and dumber than I remembered him.'

"You're a faulty one, are you not?" The man ran his hand through his hair before turning back and looking at his troops, who were clearly paying attention to them as they spoke.

"Outwood knights!" He called out to his men who didn't hesitate to give him all attention.

"Who shall escort this child to the gates."

No one replied all keeping silent. They all wanted to battle and die a stupid, courageous death. This Hex could not properly grasp.

'Does everyone hate me that much?'

After a long period of reflection amid the audience, a man eventually responded to the cry, "That kid."

Everyone's focus moved to a man who dashed through the crowd to reach their commander.

He was a young man with short hair and a blond complexion.

He wore the same uniform as everyone else and carried a heavy load of weaponry to complete the look. "Captain he is my little brother."

The Captain's eyes widened in amazement as he could not believe the similarities in their appearance.

But if he insisted, there was no reason not to believe. "Take him and go before the cursed ones come."

"Wease!" Hex's eyes welled up with emotion and became damp on the sides.

This was the man he intended to rescue: his brother, who perished during the apocalypse, being devoured by a dragon.

Sure, they were not biological brothers growing up in the same orphanage.

Wease had joined the Outwood Kinghts while Hex got adopted but their connection never got bleak for once.

Hex dashed towards Wease, reaching out and fiercely hugging him. "I have missed you!" Hex buried his head into Wease's coat.

'I missed when I was a kid, with so much friends at the orphanage, this apocalypse made me loose all this things, but this time I will make sure to win..... Even if my fatigue reaches a billion I must keep fighting till I eventually fall! I must save Wease and mum.'

"Hex, let us go meet your mother," Wease said, breaking Hex's hug tenderly and holding him by the hand as if he were a kid.

"Wease, I missed you." Hex spoke but deep within he meant it differently. He felt compelled to battle for what he had lost! 'Wease and Mum are my top priorities; from now on, the actual endgame begins; I and the Phantom must win this.'

"Don't worry Hex, we will find your mother soon."
