Chapter 13 - Obtaining Weapon And Medicine In The School Building

When Ayame discovered that zombies had entered the school, she knew it was urgent to grab a weapon and leave the school. The school lacked non-perishable food and to survive in this world, Ayame knew that it was paramount to obtain weapons and food first before securing or building a base.

While Ayame passed by classroom after classroom in the school hallway, she had already stolen a school backpack from one of those classrooms. She wasn't caught due to those students being out of the classroom, likely from attending gym class.

Afterward, she headed to the baseball club room to steal a metal baseball bat.

Fortunately, she was fast enough that there weren't any other players in the baseball club room.

"Although I prefer fighting without any weapons since my martial arts are at a high level, it still doesn't hurt to have a backup weapon in case I fight against hoards of zombies. If possible, I should search for a police station to steal their guns but that's unrealistic considering some players might have already obtained the identity of a policeman and those NPCs are no different from real humans."

"And even if I obtain a gun, my marksmanship isn't as good as my martial arts. Sigh, if only brother was here. Brother's physical abilities are trash but he is still a capable marksman."

Lamenting at how only she was forced to participate in the death game but not with her brother, Ayame shook her head and didn't think too much about it.

After all, what's done was done.

There were only ten billion humans in Blue Star yet out of those ten billion, she was one of the chosen one thousand players brought into this realistic death game.

In Blue Star, there were only five major powerhouses. They were none other than the Phoenix Empire, Freedom Eagle Federation, Sakura Shogunate, European World Alliance, and the Dragon Empire.

The one thousand players were randomly chosen from the entire Blue Star and each of those five major powerhouses would have 200 players forced to participate in the death game.

In other words, Shiro Ayame who came from the Phoenix Kingdom was one of the two hundred players who were forced to participate in the Death Game. The chances of being picked were so low yet it just so happened she was one of two hundred lucky or unlucky ones.

Whether it was good luck or bad luck, Ayame could only determine until the end of the game. If she lost, then it was her bad luck but if she won, then it was her good luck.

Ayame wasn't that confident she could win and become the top three survivors but she decided to at least try her best.

After securing her weapon, Ayame headed to the school infirmary where medicines were stored there.

'Not only is food needed, medicines are valuable as well. Although they couldn't be used to cure the zombie virus, it is still useful for fevers and other illnesses.'

'Since this is a game, there should be some NPCs who need medicine and those NPCs might have useful items which I would need later on. Money is no longer useful in the zombie apocalypse and it's only reduced to useless paper. Then, of course, the world will return to bartering.'

'Whatever the reason is, anyone knows that food, medicine, and weapons are essential in the apocalypse. And with how dangerous the zombie waves are, establishing a permanent base is difficult to achieve.'

'Any buildings on the surface can be infiltrated by those waves of zombies and the only safe base is an underground base. But even underground bases suffer from insufficient food so even if I find one, I still have to acquire food from the surface.'

'I don't know how advanced in technology this world is but I shouldn't pull the cart before the horse. Focus more on completing the goals of the present and only plan for the future after I obtain the necessary items. I'll obtain the three essentials first before finding or establishing a base.'

Having that thought in mind, Ayame ran inside the school building until she arrived at the school infirmary.

She was lucky that the zombies hadn't infiltrated the school building yet so she hurriedly stashed some of the medicines in the school infirmary inside her backpack.

But when Ayame was about to leave the school infirmary, a male high school student blocked the door and gazed at her with lustful eyes.

"Tsk! If not for the game rules, I would love to bang a beauty like you. I thought I could enjoy this lawless zombie apocalypse world to my heart's content without the shackles of the real world's laws. But since I can't due to the rules imposed upon this game world, then hand over the metal bat as well as the medicines you stole!"

"If you don't, I will kill you! The rules don't prevent us from killing each other and as a player, you don't want to die, right?"

"A girl like you can't defeat a man like me. So hand over all your valuable belongings and I won't kill you."

The male high school student, whose real name was Tawagoto Sukamu, threatened to kill Ayame if she didn't comply with his demands.

Tawagoto Sukamu was speaking the sakura language but Ayame could understand it.

In the game lobby, the game had already asked the players to choose the language of their preference and Ayame had chosen the phoenix language. So even if other players spoke foreign languages, it would be automatically translated by the game to their preferred language.

Of course, even without the game's translations, Ayame could still understand and speak the sakura language since she and her brother came from both sakura and phoenix descent.

When Ayame heard Tawagoto Sukamu's threat, she didn't want to waste any time especially with the zombies already entering the school buildings. So, she responded to Sukamu's threat by throwing her metal bat at him.

Sukamu was taken aback by Ayame's decisive attack and he didn't expect her to retaliate. However, he was still fast enough to dodge the metal bat.

But when he dodged the metal bat, Ayame had already arrived in front of him and punched his neck, causing Sukamu to pass out.

Picking up the metal bat that she had thrown earlier, Ayame knew that killing Sukamu would waste her time to escape from this school so she no longer cared about him and immediately headed to the first floor of the school building.

However, when she arrived at the school staircase, a zombie pounced towards her and wrestled her!
