Xiang Ling took in a deep breath as she thought about what to do next. She didn't have the time to cry about the unfairness she was facing in the Mortal Realm. She first needed to save Wei Guang whose health seemed to be getting worse with every passing second.
Stretching her hand forward, she checked the temperature of his forehead and immediately cursed under her breath. While the man's hands and feet were freezing, his forehead was on fire. Not trying to panic, she turned her attention toward Fu Xiao and questioned, "Who else is in the manor right now?"
"Third and Fifth Master." Fu Xiao answered immediately.
Xiang Ling was silent for a minute before she spoke as calmly as possible - "Go and ask the Third Master to bring a Physician here immediately. Inform Fifth Master to head over here with some blankets. After that, bring a basin of cold water and a towel."
Fu Xiao first nodded her head in understanding but then stopped in her tracks and turned to look at Xiang Ling with an uneasy look on her face.
"What is it now?"
"My Lady, we... we don't have any money to call a physician..." Fu Xiao was struggling for her life as she kept giving one after another bad news to her lady. Despite the part of her forgetting some of her memories, her lady was still the same person who could lose her calm at any given moment. The last thing Fu Xiao wanted was to be punished by her lady in such bad weather.
"No money?" Xiang Ling stared at the girl in shock but it didn't last for that long as she soon recovered. After everything that she had learned about the previous owner of the body, this recent discovery was barely anything. "Did I waste all the money?" She asked Fu Xiao and waited to hear what the girl had to say.
Fu Xiao slowly nodded her head and replied, "All our money comes from Master and Madam, but ever since you started visiting those... brothels and gambling houses, they only gave us enough money to buy food and other necessities. But then..." She trailed off and didn't dare to continue which made Xiang Ling curious about what happened.
"Tell me what happened." She encouraged the scared girl to finish the story.
Fu Xiao looked hesitant but she ultimately revealed what Xiang Ling wanted to know. "The night before yesterday, you searched through the entire manor and took all the money that I hid in the kitchen. Now, I have nothing left." There were tears in her eyes as she finished.
Xiang Ling studied the girl for a moment and wondered why she was the only one who was still beside the previous owner of the body when everyone else left. Or was she under some sort of obligation or pressure? Whatever the reason was, Xiang Ling decided to find out about it later. At the moment, she needed to worry about Wei Guang.
"Do you think either of the Third or Fifth Master have money?" She asked Fu Xiao who looked a little surprised at first but then hurriedly answered, "They might have some. But will they help? The masters are not close with each other at all."
Xiang Ling thought about Fu Xiao's words and even she believed that it seemed impossible to get money from the Third Master considering his nature. But there was still the Fifth Master.
"Listen carefully, you go and bring more blankets to cover First Master. Then lit up a brazier here to fill the room with some warmth. After that, fetch a basin with cold water and put a wet cloth on his forehead. No need to panic. Stay calm and wait for my return. Alright?" Xiang Ling looked at the girl with expectation-filled eyes and slight relief washed over her when Fu Xiao finally nodded her head in understanding.
"Right! Where is Fifth Master's courtyard?" She asked after checking Wei Guang's temperature one more time.
"It's the first one on the left." Fu Xiao answered before she left to bring more blankets.
Though Xiang Ling was hesitant to use her powers on Wei Guang, she still cast a simple spell to fill the room with natural warmth. Once she was sure that the bedchamber wasn't cold because of the heavy rain, she headed out to find the Fifth Master.
Since she found no parasol, she got slightly wet while crossing the courtyards. Thankfully, she ran fast enough to not get completely drenched. She soon found the little courtyard and hurried inside. Though there was no lantern outside, the room was filled with dim light.
She knocked on the door and ran inside to hide from the rain as soon as the door opened. She was so busy brushing her wet hair and clothes that it took her a while to turn her attention toward the man standing behind her.
As Xiang Ling's eyes took in the man and his beauty, she once again found herself mesmerized. It seemed like the previous owner of the body carried some sort of divine luck, otherwise, it was highly questionable why each one of her husbands was better than the other in looks.
This one had long platinum hair, sharp amber eyes, rosy lips, sharp features, and jade-like skin. But as her eyes worked their way down his body, Xiang Ling noticed just how well-proportioned his body was.
While she was in the process of assessing the beauty of the Fifth Master, the man surprised her as he suddenly pulled open his dark purple robes and let them slide down his shoulders. As the clothes pooled around his feet, his entire body was on full display. But things went even crazier when the man suddenly kneeled in front of a very shocked Xiang Ling.
