"Maybe this was a bad idea," Ossa thought to himself, unable to move.
Cracks formed on his bony frame, healed, formed again, and healed.
"What should I do now," he mused as he could not move, the axe by his side.
"Am I going to lose again?"
"No, not this time."
"No, never again."
His eyes glowed in response to his determination.
"Think, how can I get out of this situation," he mused, trying to find a way out of his current predicament.
"Yeah, this should work," he thought as he got an idea.
He immediately dislocated his left arm, and slowly, it crept away from his main body unnoticed by the giant wasps.
"Mors, any weapon nearby?" he inquired.
[ Searching vicinity ]
[ No weapons found ]
[ Searching for items that can serve as weapons ]
[ Items found ]
[ Bill hook ]
[ Bill hook, located ten meters from the host, twelve meters below ground ]
"Thanks," Ossa said as he turned his head toward the direction of the system pointed out.
Twenty meters from him, near an elderberry shrub, was a dark green glow.
"Got it," he thought internally as his right arm crawled towards it, using its fingers to pull the whole arm. Most of the wasps were preoccupied with their attack on the main body and thus did not notice the conspicuous arm crawling in their territory.
To completely steer their attention from his right arm, he dislocated his left arm as well.
"Where is the axe?" He thought, still bombarded by the fury of bites and stings from the giant wasps.
"Found it." His left hand moved towards his right side where the axe was.
Noticing the crawling hand, the wasps directed their attention towards it but could not attack it, as they had swarmed Ossa, leaving no room for mobility for themselves and Ossa.
"Got it." He grabbed the axe, using his joint as a lever, the arm spun on the grassy ground, slowly building momentum.
Gaining enough momentum, he let go of it, throwing it towards his main body where most of the wasps were. The axe tore through wasp after wasp losing momentum as it flew. The momentary confusion and disorder the axe caused allowed Ossa to rise to his feet.
Unarmed, he rushed towards his left hand.
He was literally unarmed. Get it, no arm.
Standing on its palm, the left arm jumped, quickly attaching itself to Ossa's shoulders, where it rightfully belonged.
BUZZ !!! BUZZ!! BUZZ!!
The wasps rushed towards him after gaining their composure.
"Not this time," Ossa thought to himself as he ran in the opposite direction.
Buzz!! Buzz!!
They swiftly flew after him.
"Almost there," Ossa thought as he noticed his right hand, holding the billhook.
With a thud, Ossa fell as he was slammed by one of the wasps. Using the momentum of the fall, he rolled over, swiftly arriving beside his right arm, the billhook in hand.
"Wow, that's sharp," Ossa thought, surprised about the sharpness and seemingly unrusted edges of the billhook.
Slash!! Slash!!
Skillfully, he slashed at the oncoming wasps. The billhook was unable to cleave them in half, but it could penetrate their tough exoskeleton, coupled with its sharpness and Ossa's increasing strength.
"Too shallow," he thought as he couldn't cleave them in two.
BUZZ!! BUZZ!!
Despite their numbers, he was not overwhelmed. They all faced him, none by his side or behind him, all in front of the nest, seemingly protecting its contents.
Slash!! Slash!!
Swiftly, Ossa dispatched the wasps, getting closer to their nest. When they tried to swarm him, he would always run towards the forest, away from their nest, which they wanted to protect.
Using this strategy, Ossa continued to fight the wasps, the golden rays of the sun bathing the forest as it lay on the horizon, slowly descending.
They were Creatures that were flesh and blood and thus had to sleep but feared if they did, this abomination might come in and kill their queen.
Buzz!! Buzz!!
They ignored their instincts for sleep and continued to fight the abominable skeleton.
The immortal skeleton, who did not feel fatigued, nor needed food, was full of fighting spirit, slashing at the tired wasps.
With each slash, his technique increased, the billhook chirping as its durability decreased.
Notification sounded in the skeleton's mind but he was too immersed in his battle to hear it.
[ Killed 271 mid-tier normal giant wasps, 40 tier three normal giant wasps, and 3 tier one normal giant wasps ]
Ossa who could not hear the system notification continued to attack, the number of wasps was barely a handful as most of them had retrieved into the hive, the lot dead at the hands of Ossa.
" Where are they, " Ossa said internally, as he could not find any of the wasps.
[ You have killed all of them. The rest are in the nest, protecting their queen ]
"Guess, I should go in," Ossa said, as he had not had enough. He wanted strength, and to get that, he had to hunt, and hunt, and hunt again.
[ Stop for now, Bell will wake up soon ]
" Bel?! But isn't it too early... " He paused as he noticed the twilight slowly disappearing replaced by the starlit night sky.
" Huh, when ... " Ossa said as he looked at the night sky.
" I need to go to her before she wakes up " Ossa turned around, in his line of sight, hundreds of wasp corpses.
"Do I have time to absorb mana cores before she wakes up?" He inquired as he felt it would be a waste to leave all of the mana cores behind.
[Yeah, the amount of life force you've accumulated is more than needed for your evolution; it would take a while.]
"If so, why don't I go in?" he asked, perplexed as the system said Bel would be waking up soon but now said it would take a while to assimilate all the life force.
[Just absorb the cores and go to her, no more questions.]
The system said using Francesco's voice.
"Ok," Ossa responded, his tone monotone.
Seemingly in a daze, he busied himself, removing cores and swallowing them.
"Is that an undead?"
