Chapter 13 - GIANT WASP

Feeling guilty, she continued to stuff her face with meat.

"Sorry, I can't give you some... I promise I will next time," she said as she ate the last of the rabbit, leaving only the bones that she had knawed on, ripping off any meat that might have stuck to it.

"Ossa, I'm done, let's go," Bel got up and gestured for them to leave.

"Master Bel was really hungry, she ate all of it... She looked blissful as she ate, I wish I could also eat," Ossa said, as his childish mind wished to also enjoy the taste of food.

[For now, that is not possible, but as you grow stronger, you will one day be able to taste food]

The system responded to his thoughts, reassuring him of the better days to come.

"Ok, master, I will wait," he exclaimed, excited at the prospect of one day being able to eat.

"To get stronger, I need to kill more beasts... On to the next one," he thought as he took the lead, following his instincts.

"Wait up," Bel shouted as Ossa had left her behind.

They walked side by side, looking for a new game to hunt.

As they traversed the forest, luck smiled favorably on them.

Their random movement had brought them to the hive of giant wasps.

A mid-tier (tier 4) normal giant wasp that lived in groups. They had the appearance of normal wasps but were the size of a grown man. Despite their size, they were one of the fastest creatures in the outer regions of the Forbidden Forest.

Bel, like normal girls her age, was afraid of bugs. Upon noticing the giant nest, she shrieked and hid behind Ossa.

Ossa looked at the creatures, his eyes glittering with anticipation and excitement. He had inquired from the system, verifying they were normal magical creatures, which meant he could finish the quest given to him by the system.

The 6-feet creatures flew around the nest, unaware of the intruders.

Their nest, unlike the traditional wasp nest, was made of soil and fibers from trees and other plants they had chewed. The nest stood at an outstanding height of 200 feet and 300 feet wide, towering over most trees in the vicinity.

"Ossa, let's go... These bugs are dangerous, they are extremely poisonous and very fast, ...and I can't eat that, I hate bugs," Bel said, biting her nails in fright and disgust.

"Why is she behaving like that?" Ossa inquired internally, unable to empathize with Bel, as he was undead, a being who had lost his sense of fear.

[Host, Contractor is afraid]

[The wasps are mid-tier normal creatures and can pose harm to contractor]

[Get her to safety before you engage them in battle]

[If the contractor dies, the host will also die]

"Ah!!! Ok, I don't want that, how can I fulfill master's wish if I die... Let me get her to safety first," Ossa thought internally after hearing the warning from the system.

He turned towards Bel, who was hiding behind him.

"Master Bel, please get to safety," He said internally, trying to communicate with Bel.

"Huh, you want me to leave?" She said out loud, noticing the caring look in Ossa's eyes. "...No problem there." Without any hesitation, she rushed back, taking refuge in the trees where the shadow wolves hid.

"Good, she has left... Time to finish Master Francesco's quest," Ossa said, resolving himself for the battle.

Valiantly he walked towards the nest, every step making a clacking sound as his bones rubbed on each other.

BUZZ!!! BUZZ!!! BUZZ!!!

The wasps moved in and out of their nest, some carrying small creatures like the horned rabbit and mirrored lizard.

They flew around their nest, still unaware of the undead creature who stood at the boundary of their territory, sizing them up.

Ossa, without any plan of action, walked into their territory, their antennae twitched as they sensed the intruder.

BUZZ!!!

Those closest to Ossa rushed towards him, swiftly moving through the air.

The weak skeleton fell as he was slumped into by the fast-moving human-sized wasp.

"Huh, what happened?" Ossa thought as he found himself looking at the blue sky, the sun hidden by the towering nest.

[Host has fallen]

[Host is too weak to face the mid-tier wasp]

[Host needs a weapon]

[Scanning vicinity]

[Object found]

[Analysing]

[Rake]

[Analysing...]

[Host should be able to manage with the rake]

"Rake?! Where is it?" Ossa inquired, unbothered to get up as the wasps gathered above him, some trying to pierce him with their stingers.

But what is there to pierce? Ossa had no flesh, making their efforts in vain as the stingers brushed past his bones, hitting the ground he lay on.

[Rake, 12 feet from host, 10 centimeters underground, at host's right-hand side]

"Right hand... Which is my right... Ehm, left right... Ah yes, that's my right," Ossa thought hard as his cognition was that of a child, left and right a bit of a hassle to his current mind.

After figuring out his left and right, he turned his head towards the right.

A dark green hue glowed on the spot where the rake was buried, a glow only he could see.

"Is that it?" he inquired.

[Yes]

Getting his confirmation, he tried to get up but was immediately hit by a wasp, falling back to the ground.

Stubbornly, he tried to get back up again but was hit by the wasp, falling back on the ground.

He did this a couple of times but later gave up as his efforts bore no fruit.

"What do I do now," he mused.

He lay on the ground, the wasps biting and piercing his bones, which were surprisingly sturdy against their attacks. He was a 7th-tier normal skeleton summon, and its resilience was its only good quality.

Looking at the glowing spot, he noticed a regular-sized ladybug crawling on the grass.

"Crawling... If I crawl, they will not be able to hit me," he thought to himself, having a eureka moment from observing the ladybug.

Slowly, he turned his body, his rib cage facing the ground. The grass served as a glider, and he pushed himself forward, sometimes stopping as the stings of the wasps locked him in place.

Eventually, he reached his destination and dug his hand into the ground, bringing out a rusted rake.
