[ Host is injured, using life force to heal host ]

" A skill ... Wow, it feels like I have had it my whole life," Ossa said as he could feel a familiar but yet unfamiliar knowledge inscribed in his soul

".... Eh wait, did you use all the life force of a mystic beast to heal me... Shouldn't some be left " He exclaimed, as he felt he was being cheated by the system.

[ Tch... ]

[ Sorry host, it seems it was a miscalculation on my part ]

[ Conver... ]

" Did you just snicker " Ossa inquired as he clearly heard the system snicker.

[ Host is interrupting me... ]

[ May I continue ]

" Yeah sorry, I might have heard incorrectly, please continue " Ossa apologized, as he believed the system of his master would not try to rip him off.

[ Host defense is weak ]

[ Converting remaining life force to defense ]

[ Host defense has increased ]

" Thanks, that's what I really needed... Please by how much has it increased " Ossa asked, as he did not feel much different.

[ System update is not complete, so I can not tell the host but I can assure you that host's defense has increased ]

" Really, but I don't feel any different " Ossa, said studying his body.

[ Sigh ]

[ You are fine ]

The system said changing its voice to that of Francesco.

" Ok," Ossa responded as Francesco's voice acted like a hypnotic sound that was able to control him.

" I need to look for more creatures to hunt, " Ossa said forgetting about his doubt about the system cheating him.

Deciding on his next move, he directed his attention to the dead moth, which had its brown setae burnt to a crisp.

" That looked like Bel's soul flame, did Master Bel save me " He said as he pulled the pitchfork out of the creature.

Like a sculpture made of ash, it crumbled, as its body had been burnt to ashes.

" That's really powerful " He exclaimed, impressed by the power of the soul flame.

" Well I need to get stronger too, for the sake of both masters "

" What's that " He said as he noticed a sphere of about 60cm in circumference. It radiated with an indigo hue.

[That's the mana core of a peak tier mystic creature irrespective of their species. ]

" Mana core, then that means there is mana in it... If that's the case, can I use my mana drain skill on it " He inquired.

[ Yes ]

" Sweet!! " He exclaimed, excited.

He quickly took the orb out of the ashes of the creature, bringing it to his mouth, he opened it and swallowed it.

The orb could be seen passing through his hollow neck but before getting to his rib cage, it disappeared.

" So what now " He inquired as he felt no different from before.

[ It has been added to your mana pool, increasing your rank from a peak tier normal magical creature to a tier one mystic creature ]

" Wow that's incredible, So does that mean I have become stronger? " He inquired, excitement vivid in his eyes.

[ Yes ]

" How, I don't feel much different "

[ Regeneration ]

" So I wouldn't need to use life force anymore, "

[ Yes ]

Mystic basic skeleton soldiers were extremely rare as unlike normal basic skeleton they rarely depended on their master's mana to heal.

" Wait, does that mean I can transfer the mana I absorb to Master Bel "

[ No, the skill is attached to your soul and your current contractor does not have control over your soul ]

" Oh, okay...I guess nothing can be done about that " Ossa grumbled as he wanted to evolve as fast as possible.

Providing mana to Bel would have made that possible.

"Mors, if this hypno moth has a mana core, does that mean all magical beasts have one " Ossa inquired. He was curious about it as he had killed a lot of wasps, if they all had cores, that meant he could increase his rank.

[ Yes ]

Hearing the system's answer, he quickly rushed towards the wasp's hive.

After a couple of minutes of running, he finally arrived at the giant nest of the wasps.

"They're still asleep," He thought as he did not perceive any sound.

He walked closer, and to his dismay the number of wasp corpses he was expecting had diminished.

" What happened here " He thought as he walked into the clearing where only two corpses lay.

[ There are a lot of creatures in the forest, what did you expect]

" You know, sometimes I sense ridicule in your tone," Ossa said, as he had noticed that the system sometimes dissed him. He even remembered the snicker it gave him.

[ Just your imagination ]

" Well, whatever... Now how do I ... " He paused as he could see a dark green light emanating from the wasp's abdomen.

" Is that where its core is, "

[ Yes, your skill allows you to locate the position of the core ]

" Great " He exclaimed as he rushed towards the dead wasp.

With all his strength, he plunged the pitchfork into its abdomen, ripping it open.

In it was an orb, glowing with a golden yellow hue.

" Is this really a core, it has a different color as to the first one " He inquired.

[ Yes, each tier has a different color ]

" Wow, good for them," He said uncaring of the colors of the cores and their corresponding tiers as the system always told him the rank of the creature.
