Chapter 45 - Chapter 45 – Point of View

Several slim lighthouses lay before him, each one decorated in multiple rings of red and white.

He looked at them.

He was seeing them but he wasn't ready to take another journey into the unknown.

Damon needed a breather.

He heaved a deep sigh and pulled up the screen, into a larger size, in front of him using [Expand]. He looked at his profile again and checked his progress so far.

Disappointed, he could not even look at his profile for long. A burden of sadness fell on him and he rubbed his forehead out of frustration.

He had made so much progress since arriving in this world… or so he thought. Yet, his progress was not reflecting as much as he wanted on his character sheet.

After a few seconds, his face lit up and his eyes were glued back to the holographic screen.

'I haven't checked that out yet,' he thought to himself.

Following this sudden realisation, Damon further expanded on the [Skills] section of his character profile to check it out.

[Point of View]

—––

Damon arched his eyebrows.

'Point of view?'

Although he remembered after a short while, Damon had initially forgotten that Symhar gifted him something after clearing the challenge of the First Floor.

"Yeah! That's from that guardian," he recalled. "Let's see what it does."

He tapped on the [Point of View] skill to see the details.

Tap.

Nothing happened.

Tap.

Still nothing.

After several continuous taps on the skills and nothing happened, Damon sighed.

[Please proceed to a lighthouse]

"Hmm. Seems like I won't be able to do anything until I enter one of these lighthouses."

He looked around again.

"Maybe this is just the entrance of the 2nd Floor," he pointed out, having realised that he had not actually entered the floor but was merely in its periphery.

.

.

.

Several minutes later.

"It is bigger than it appeared from there."

Damon had walked up close to a lighthouse out of the many.

He looked up and down at it, still sceptical about entering but he had no choice.

If he didn't enter a lighthouse, he was not going to move forward and Damon did not enjoy the idea of standing in a green expanse under sunlight and doing nothing for a very long time.

He reluctantly opened the door and entered into the lighthouse.

He turned around and stood still, facing the expanse and absorbing the view in front of him for the last time as the doors of the entrance slowly closed.

An arrow appeared on the inside of the door that shone green and pointed upwards.

In a moment, Damon felt his body being lifted after the arrow disappeared.

"An elevator?" he wondered, not sure where he was being taken to.

Even if he knew, there was not much he could do about it.

He simply remained calm and waited patiently for his arrival at whatever destination the lift was set to arrive at.

It was a swift and calm ride and within seconds, he had arrived.

The doors of the lighthouse separated, creating a path for him in the middle. He stepped out of the elevator and into a grassy ground as the door shut behind him and vanished.

Damon was standing inside a forest, surrounded by so many trees that sunlight hardly penetrated through the shade they provided over him.

He looked confused, slowly turning around in circles and assessing his new surroundings. 'What is this place?'

Everywhere was cool and calm. Well, except for the occasional singing from the birds that hid in the trees.

Trees and flowers of different kinds were all over the place and gave the air a comfortable scent.

After he walked for about an hour, Damon stopped to rest.

It was at this time that it occurred to him that he had still not checked out his new skill.

POINT OF VIEW

[Description]

—––

Damon blinked uncontrollably as he read through the description of [Point of View]. This reaction was not out of surprise but from disbelief at what he was looking at.

'That's unbelievable!'

He blinked again as he looked at the screen. To confirm that he was seeing well enough, the player moved closer and even squinted his eyes to read better.

He just could not accept it.

At this time, he was dazed and confused that he did not care about any other thing.

However, there was only one way to find out if what the description said about [Point of view] was true or not.

Damning all consequences, Damon decided to put the skill to the test just to clear his doubts.

"Use skill…" he instructed Axon. "Point of view."
