After a while of falling into what seemed like an endless, pitch-black pit, Miranda's body finally hit a hard surface with a loud thud.
She winced, tightening her previously shut eyes, as pain shot through her body due to the hard landing on her left side.
Pushing herself up, she rubbed her left upper arm with her right hand, dusting off the dirt which stuck to her skin, at the same time, soothing the pain.
Her eyes flew open and she quickly surveyed her environment. With knitted brows, she looked around.
It looked like she was standing inside a cave because of the stone walls and the opening that she was currently facing. But another thought came to her mind. There's a possibility it was a stone building because the walls were kind of smoother and the opening, wider and thinner in width than what a cave wall and opening should be like.
She didn't know what the time was but it was slightly dark inside where she was standing, but looked like early sunset outside, where she could see some plants and trees.
'Where am I?' She asked internally, scrutinizing the strange wall.
As if to answer her question, a loud noise echoed from behind her, startling her to the core.
Miranda turned around instantly, already nursing the idea that she was inside the home of a wild animal, only to come face to face with the most unexpected sight wielding the ability to make one become as frozen as ice.
A few meters away from her were what looked like three graves, two opened and the one in the middle completely sealed up.
There were two haggardly dressed men standing beside the opened ones, looking at her with expressions she couldn't fathom or process at that moment.
However, that was not the scariest part. The noise that had gotten her attention in the first place did not come from the two men. Rather it was coming from the sealed burial chamber. It was so loud it seemed whoever or whatever was inside was trying to get out.
The noise didn't seem to disturb the other two men. They just glued their attention on her.
Miranda knew she should move. She should run away now before she encountered something worse than her wildest imagination.
And she did take a step back only to freeze again when a fist burst through the sealed burial chamber, shattering the top seal.
Miranda didn't know why she wasn't running away at top speed yet. In her heart, she was already far from that place. But her body refused to move probably because she was too scared to turn her back against whatever she was witnessing.
The question of how she managed to get from her bedroom to this place was still weighing heavily in her mind. Could she be dreaming about this?
She watched in horror with stretched eyes as a man emerged from the burial chamber, his bright, red as burning coal eyes set on her.
He didn't look right, neither did he look left. He just fixed his horrifying gaze on her, and that had her heart doing double time, while an invincible nail pinned her to the spot.
Apart from his eyes, his clothes were torn, and had blood stains on them, just like the other two guys. But this one's hair was white, even though it was looking as lifeless as his skin at that moment, while the other two guys had black and brown.
Miranda only needed to blink for him to disappear from the spot where he stood and appear before her, towering over her.
Her heart skipped several beats in fear and she stopped breathing altogether while staring at those unbelievable, daunting eyes that she had only read about in books.
In another second, his hand had wrapped around her hair and her head was pushed to the side while two sharp fangs dug into the side of her neck.
An unrestricted scream rang out of Miranda's lips, but it didn't last.
The man, or beast as she already concluded he was, pulled his fangs and head away from her, donning a frown.
"I told you not to return. Why are you here?" He asked in a deep, velvety smooth voice while letting go of her hair. "Leave this place and don't come back." He added, turning away from her and walking back toward the burial chamber.
The other two men, hearing what he said, frowned but said nothing to counter his words. While the brown-haired one had his gaze fixed on the man that was returning to their side, the black haired one fixed his on Miranda, obvious worry etched on his features.
As if the spell that was cast on her snapped, Miranda's hand flew to her neck as she recovered from the initial shock. Before anyone could say Jack, she found her feet and ran as fast as she could away from the cave for dear life.
The outside of the cave was a forested area, but she didn't mind. Although it was growing increasingly dark, she just kept running in any direction she saw, just to get away from what she just experienced.
Could that guy be a vampire? Red eyes, fangs, breaking out of a sealed grave... She had read about vampires and extremely loved to meet one someday, but now that she met something similar to what she desired, it wasn't a good experience. It was one hell of a scary shit and she absolutely hates it. He didn't even think twice before biting her.
And what was that he said? He told her not to come back. Come back to where? And when did he tell her? Was he crazy? What the hell was going on? The questions continued popping into her head as she ran, never for once looking back, not even to know if she was being followed.
She had to find a way to get out of that place. Maybe if she finds a way out of the forest, she will get a taxi that will take her home. Or if this is a fucking dream, then she was ready to wake up already.
