"HOWL!" a loud howl rang near David and Tom, catching both of their attention.
"Elite Wolf?!" David quickly checked the details of the enemy,
[Level 17]
"David, we need to fall back; we will die if we confront it", Tom muttered, stepping back, but suddenly, he noticed a shadow run past him.
David rushed towards the wolf with only one thought in his mind. "Drop me a good piece of equipment, you meat-on-a-bone", as he jumped in the air, smacking the wolf on its head.
[ -10 hp ]
"Damnit. Does it have a special defence or something!?" David muttered as he stepped back, looking at the wolf, who was now mad at David for hitting him.
Elite and Boss monsters had a low probability of spawning with a random buff or skill, making creating strategies for these monsters challenging.
The wolf lunged at David, ready to pounce on him using its giant claws. David quickly launched a lesser lightning spell, hoping to trigger the 'stun' effect. Still, the wolf took the attack head-on and continued its pursuit of David without a halt.
"Shit!",
But before the Elite Wolf could reach David, Tom appeared before him, casting a spell, causing his sword to erupt with flames.
"Woah!" David looked at Tom, who leapt towards the wolf and executed a precise sword strike, dealing it a lot of damage.
[ -200 hp]
"So it's weak against magical attacks", David thought as he used up all his mana and launched a barrage of lightning strikes at the wolf.
[ Elite Wolf has been inflicted with Stun]
"Now's your chance!" David said to Tom, who lunged at the wolf, taking advantage of the Stun, and knocked its head off with a precise strike.
[ You have defeated a level 17 Aberrant Wolf (Elite). You have received 50 exp]
David quickly checked his inventory, hoping to see if he received any excellent equipment.

1) Increased Resistance to Physical Attacks
==========
"That's pretty good!" David thought, knowing that a mage needed Physical Resistance-type equipment.
"What did you get?" he asked Tom, who was flaunting a ring on his finger.
"It's a rare item! It increases Resistance to both Physical and Magical Attacks", Tom smiled.
David knew that Tom had a higher contribution and would probably receive a better artefact, but he was jealous of Tom nonetheless.
"Let me get my class quickly, then I will show you my real abilities." David grinned as he bid Tom goodbye to complete the quest the blacksmith had given and gain information about the Slime King to continue his legendary quest.
On his way, he thought of where to allocate the remaining stat points he received from levelling up to level 5. " I have 6 points. After the fight with the wolf, I think Strength and vitality might also be important."
He opened the system and looked at his overall stat points,
============
Stats:
HP: 100/100
Vitality:10
Strength:10
Agility:12
Mana:12
Stat Points: 6
Skill Points: 5
============
"hmmm", he thought for some more time before finally allocating two points each to Vitality and Strength, while the remaining two points to mana. He could feel that his body had become significantly stronger and checked that his total HP had increased to 120 as well.
"So I should focus on Mana majorly and divide the remaining points in the other stats, with priority on Agility", David thought.
He swung around the staff and realised his swings were way more precise and mighty now.
David finally reached in front of the blacksmith's store and entered it to find that the blacksmith was still working on some other piece of sword.
"I got what you wanted", David said as he took out 10 pieces of wolf hide he had obtained from his farming before.

[You have levelled up]
"phew, level 6 and level 7 are also nearly halfway done. I might be able to reach level 10 quickly at this rate", David thought.
"So, do you know where I can find Slime King?" he asked the blacksmith.
The blacksmith was silent, and David hoped that he would provide him with clues of some kind. At that moment, the blacksmith stopped working. As he looked at David, he said, "Near the south end of the town, there is a cave. You might be able to find one there if you are lucky."
"Thank you so much, sir!" David quickly bowed before he dashed out of the store.
He quickly ran across the Town to reach the south end but found nothing like a cave.
"A Slime King should be the same size as a teenager", David thought as he tried to find any opening which would be that big. He walked for some time and, taking another step, created a splash of water. He looked down and realised that a small stream of water was flowing on the ground.
"Interesting. The Lake is on the opposite end of the Town, so where is this water coming from?"
He silently followed the stream of water, trying to find its source.
He walked for some time and realised the water was coming from a small hole inside the stone wall. "Maybe the cave is behind this rock?" David thought. He had encountered countless ruins in his previous life and wasn't surprised to find them.
He took out his trusty staff and looked at it, "no, no, I might need you against the slime", he said, patting it. He put back the sword before punching the stone wall with all his Strength.
-crack-
-crack-
The stone wall started to crack as a cave emerged from behind the wall.
[ You have encountered a hidden piece! Rewarding 100 exp]
"Nice!" but suddenly, he looked at the system, realising it was time to log out.
"Damn you, University!" he grumbled as he logged out and took off the VR Headset, only to find out that Tom was already out, waiting for him.
