Chapter 15 - Stalemate's Aftermath

The stalemate lasted for a very long time. Noah didn't even have the leisure time to track how long he had been fighting Leviathan.

At the beginning of the fight, he had been wearing a robe that was half-divine. Now, that robe of his had been blemished, sullied by the dark waters of the dark sea. The divinity within, weakened.

Still, Noah's situation had improved from before, with his shining light already occupying half of the dark sky. It could be said that his power now had already equaled that of a true lesser divinity.

Leviathan, who had been once so arrogant in front of this human, was already fearing for its life. Every time his body was exposed to the divine light, it burns it greatly. At this point, it couldn't even go near to attack him.

"Thou will see, Son of Lamech. There shall cometh a time when all of creation falls into oblivion! Once that happens, we who were birthed from Inexistence shall laugh at all of Existence!" Cackling, Leviathan pridefully laughed as it said such words of blasphemy.

Suddenly…

"Thou hast said enough, zealot of filth. Even the worms are uninterested in thy ramble." From the heavens where the divine light shines, a being with the radiance of the sun came down upon them. Without even letting the serpent retort, the angel whipped out a ten-meter long whip and lashed at Leviathan.

This time, the serpent seems to have no ability to resist as it fearfully dove back under the water, where no life above could see its miserable state. As it did, the dark skies that covered the seas were cleared up.

Looking at the sky with marvel, Noah knelt down and thanked, "I thank thee from punishing the blasphemous serpent, Heavenly Lord."

"Silence, mortal." The light in the sky retorted with a shush, "We are not the Heavenly Lord, but only His faithful servants and protectors of the universe. The filth hath said so much trash; such filthy mouth will never go unpunished."

"Thank you, fellow servants of God." In response to the beings' reminder, Noah rephrased himself and continued to thank the being above. Without responding, the being vanished into the clouds and the weather soon became clear.

Noah, having almost couldn't believe his victory over the beast, stared listless at the sky. Suddenly, he felt something odd on his body. Heaving the dirty linen away from his chest, a mysterious symbol of light seemed to have spontaneously appeared on the side where his heart is. Having no prior knowledge of the mark, Noah concluded that it was the gift of divinity to him since he had noticed that the power within his body seemed to have increased.

With that, he snapped out of his stupor, and Noah continues his travel back to his abode, where the Ark shall be made prepared for God's plan.

A week later, Noah's boat finally hit land. He then walked to the nearest town where he planned to acquire a horse to drag his boat with him.

He arrived at the Town of Gehenna, a small town under the jurisdiction of the City of Nadrul who worshiped the Demon Satian.

Satian is a demon that had been heavily going against Him and His actions, hating everything that He does. Even before the rebellion, Satian had already been punished by Him several times due to his several misconducts.

Noah put on his hood, hiding his face from the people of the town. He had no intention of saving these people from His wrath, knowing that they are one of the major contributors in the persecution of His believers. After acquiring a horse, he would immediately leave.

"Hath thou'st heard of what was happening to the North?" From behind him, a conversation started, "It's said that they art suffering from the Behemoth's rampage as we speak."

"Really?"

"Certainly. It is also why the Townmaster had been preparing to hold a sacrificial ceremony to appease the beast. They art preparing to sacrifice twenty children from the Rebels' Lineage."

"We could only hope that the beast be appeased." The other sighed.

"Doth thou hearest thyselves?!" In a fit of rage, Noah shouted at the conversing people with seething rage.

"Who art thou, stranger, to interupt our conversation?" One of the men raised their eyebrow and glared at him.

Noah clicked his tongue with exasperation. He couldn't believe that these human beings think that sacrificing children is better than going against the beast to end its tyranny once and for all! "Thy fates really are rightfully so. Yes! Rightfully so!" Noah then left them in anger, making the two people think that he scampered away in fright.

Hearing their laughs behind him, Noah now had an even stronger will and determination to purge these ruffians off the face of this world.

First, he went and investigated all around the town for the location of the children. After quite a while, he had gathered the information that they were held captive at the foot of the Sarjena Mountain, east of the town. He heard that by dusk, they would be dragged to the top and, as soon as they arrive, be sacrificed to "appease the beast".

With no time to waste, Noah stole a horse and began his journey to the east to save the children in peril.

Several minutes later, he arrived near the foot of the mountain. Alighting his horse, Noah, with his staff in hand, sneaked his way towards the mountain.

There were already quite a lot of people that have gathered to watch the event. As dusk creeps near, everyone had bated breaths, anticipating a good show to watch. Some were fearing for their lives while some others were only enjoying the thrill of having the thought that they would be killed.

Past those people were his target; hundreds of children imprisoned with cages and chains, their treatments even worse than animals.

Their eyes had already lost the luster that the youths should possess. Noah couldn't even surmise what happened to them before this.

"Wait for me, children. Soon, thy fates would be together with me and my God." With that thought, Noah prepared his plan for their escape.
